Yeah scrwed up my bonjour... lemme try firewire

Edit: Has to mess w/ it a bit but my firewire works...

I'm about to install it. I'm actually happy about temperature rises, makes it run longer on battery because the fans don't spin so fast. And if you want to use your Macbook (Pro) on your lap, I highly recommend SMCFanConrtol (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/23049). It's basically a slider where you can set your fan speed up (not down) to a constant speed. 2500 rpm is just perfect for my taste to use the Macbook on my lap, and you can't really hear the fans (the hard drive covers it well). So if you have concerns about heat, use this piece of software and raise the lowest fan speed (1500 rpm on Macbooks).

wake from sleep issues!? wtf?!

this sux, i have a PowerMac G5 Dual 1.8GHz and i have wake from sleep issues in the last 2 months or so...

it's really pissin me off cuz i thought it was some of the peripherals i had plugged in but ive had nothing hooked up to it and it still has issues. grrrrrr

Apple fix the PowerMac wake from sleep issues tooooo *waves fist in air*

ahhhhhhh

*sigh* :(

anyone have the same issue!?

None of the 3 see my iPods...
and my Wife's PC doesn't see my G-Drive now!!!

IT KILLED MY G-DRIVE!? HOW????

EDIT: Nevermind that one... the G-Drive is okay..

But All 3 Mac's 1394 ports are dead! They all worded before the Macbook was updated!

Haven't noticed a temperature change but wouldn't care either way.

Is it just me or does is scrolling smoother on a MacBook now? It wasn't bad before, but it seems more fluid now.

Rolling back the firmware

It appears many should unplug all their firewire devices before applying this update. The last firmware update on my MP kind of made my audio off most of the time. When I play anything it seems that one side is louder than the other then when I raise the volume the treble sounds too high pitched. Sounds somewhat better when the speakers are plugged into the headphone jack. Anyone else having sound inaccuracies on MP? I'm hoping the new firmware fixes things.

For those wanting to rollback here's the link of Apple's instructions....

I can confirm it fixes this issue.

23" + X1900XT works fine with bootup ... i get the whole windows install... just partition problems now... i hate you bootcamp

Yeah me too. No more black screen hang up issues, but then I get disk errors and such after even having intial problems with the partioning tool using the Boot Camp Assistant.

Grrr...

Maybe not. I had an external firewire hard drive plugged in when I did the update. I also had a f/w hub with 2 other f/w hard drives plugged into that. However, the only thing that was powered on during the update was the hub itself. So maybe it's ok to have the drives plugged in, just don't have them running. But then again, that's just a guess...
Good luck to those who are having problems.

I believe my problem was caused by the Target Mode on my Macbook.

I had just put my Macbook Pro in Target mode, and dumped my MP3's to it from my Mac Pro.

When I plugged in my Macbook to the Mac Pro, the macbook wasn't detected... Then I tried it with the Macbook Pro...

Now, none of the 3 work.

did the update on my intel mini, so far so good. haven't lost anything yet.

things open a little faster but not by much.

glad to heard the xp install with the black screen was fixed. never could get my 27" to work with install.

Actually, you can not...

"Note: This CD cannot be used to return an Intel-based Macintosh computer's firmware to a previous version if a successful update has already been performed."

I should of caught that. Thanks for letting everyone know about that. I don't remember seeing this many people post issue after a firmware update. I will try mine later on.

I just tested my Mac's ability to sleep. It was REALLY slow the first time but it worked. It never had any sleep issues before.

is it just me, or the update gave a semi-long loud beep at the part when i says to press and hold downt eh power button until power indicator flashes repeadily.???

My Macbook is now 10 degrees C warmer, and I can really feel the difference. A subtle whine is coming from the top left side of the computer as well. I can't see how this would be an upgrade to anything when everything was better before the update.

Same here Toeknee, for my C2D Macbook.

Software update doesn't show this Firmware update as well. Perhaps it's for the CD Macbooks?

My C2D MBPro has the following firmware:

Boot ROM Version: MBP22.00A5.B00

Guess it is not needed afterall.

My computer doesn't shut down like it's supposed to... It'll end up on a blank screen with an idle HD (the screen will dim, then brighten with input and everything)... long story short, I have to force-shutdown every time, but apparently with no ill-effects because I do so near the end of the shutdown cycle... idk

Anyway, I can't get the update to install. I get the flashing light, the gross noise, and two startup chimes, but no firmware updating. It simple restarts and prompts me to update firmware from the start. Help?

P.S. 15" Macbook Pro and logging out first doesn't help the no shutdown issue

oh found something interested.

after the upgrade my harddrive gained about 1.5-2.0 gb in free space.

wondering what got deleted.????????

mac mini 1.66

If you re-booted after the firmware update, it was virtual memory space.

Just installed the update (20" CD iMac) I didnt unplug anything (idiot) but my external Lacie firewire disk didnt start up when I turned the computer back on (as it usually does). So im not sure if it ignores it during the update?

anyway, scared the hell outta me when it booted back to osx and the mouse was moving around the screen extremely slow and jittery  (wireless MM). Rebooted and all seems ok....for now...

Those of you with MBs or MBPs with heat issues - get Fan Control Pref Pane.

It works, I have a RavA MBP2Ghz that runs cool to the touch, even when maxxed out running BOINC.

No problems here with the update - beeped instead of flashing lights, then a progress bar, reboot and a dialog box after startup that said the firmware was successfully updated.
