To be fair to Intel, the fact they're producing competitive CPUs (benchmarks show their next chip outperforms the latest Ryzen in single core performance) whilst still milking 14nm is pretty impressive. Imagine how their designs would perform on a better node!
"Their next chip" isn't available for sale, and only runs that fast using benchmarks created by Intel.

Intel, you should really _use_ a MacBook and have a look at the Touchpad. There is absolutely no need for a Touchscreen. Anyway, touch my MacBook screen and I slap your fingers. Hard.

PS. Ever heard of "gorilla arm"? Touchscreen is a feature that people stop using after a very short time.

I mean… I get the impression whoever made that campaign doesn't really understand what Photoshop is for? Who spends their day using Photoshop thinking "I wish flipping through thumbnails were easier"?

(I can see the argument either way. Swiping the image itself does feel more natural, but also, using a trackpad is more comfortable, and works quite well on Apple's trackpads. But… Photoshop? Do those people know what Photoshop is for?)

In my opinion, this strong reaction from Intel is a testament to how impressed people actually are with Apple Silicon. I say this as an owner of both an Intel & M1 Mac. Everything I don't like about my Intel MacBook Air is related in part or entirely to Intel - heat, noise, and comparatively poor graphics performance.

That's pure ignorance. Intel has been reporting record revenues and profits quarter after quarter. I guess Intel and Apple are both dying then.
It's not just what you are reporting today. It's your outlook for the future. Microsoft has just watched a demo by Apple: "How to build a more efficient laptop without using Intel". What Microsoft does can kill Intel. Not this year, not next year, but eventually.

First businesses will replace their boring old business computers with boring old ARM based business computers. Then households will replace their boring old internet browsing laptops with boring old ARM based internet browsing laptops. Then some games will be ported and run surprisingly fast. Then some low-end gamers will move, then mid-end, then high-end. And soon there's nothing left for Intel.

I couldn't stomach 10 minutes of that video, but from what I did manage to watch it seems to me that absolutely nothing Intel is submitting into evidence has anything at all to do with any of Intel's products. The architecture targeted by game developers, the features of operating systems or hardware implementation such as touch screens and port choices are all dependent on the makers of these products. Swap out the Intel hardware in the products for AMD hardware, and practically nobody would notice the difference.

These ads would make a little bit of sense coming from Microsoft or Acer, but not from Intel.

So I'm gonna need a little help to understand how iPads outsell ALL laptops combined... :p
I see what you mean, I worded it poorly. It’s outselling every laptop on the market, but that doesn’t mean that the iPad is selling more in total than ALL other laptops added together.

Like, if Lenovo sold 23 million computers altogether in 4Q and Apple sold 20 million iPads ONLY, then the iPad is outselling Lenovo’s laptops (unless they only sold like 3 million desktops). Then you look at HP, Dell, and Acer, they all sold a number of systems (laptops and desktops) that’s less than Apple’s 20 million iPads.

Desperation by Intel, a new fragrance.

Honestly I think Intel should be more worried about AMD eating their lunch than Apple, these ads feel so tone deaf.
Yep. AMD’s R9 is certainly eating Intel market share this compared to last year in the gaming PC space.

-----------> What's missing from Intels ads? <------------
They're still using bloated, outdated, power hungry, and slower technology.

It's funny how short-sighted they are about the big picture.

Pointing out that you can't use a touch-screen, mouse, and stylus without a PC? Really? Macs and iPads are merging platforms. You can run M1 Apps on iPads and iPad Apps on M1 Macs. Macs and MacBooks with touch screens are inevitable.

Macs aren't for scientists or gamers?

Macs are very popular among scientists and engineers.

I'm not a gamer, but does Intel realize just how many games there are in the iOS market... and they are now Mac compatible?

Was it desperate stuff by Apple when they did the same kind of ads targeting PCs? You're not even trying to be objective.
As has been pointed out before, one should only do direct comparison ads with larger competitors, not with much smaller ones. It legitimizes one’s competition.

what a stupid ad. It all does not matter if you do not want a PC. Simple as that. I would go as far as saying that people do not care if it is a "M1" or "Intel" computer let alone know what that even means. They are just looking for a MacBook. A friend of mine didn't even know his MacBook Pro had 16 GB of ram until he shared a unrelated screenshot with me the other day.

The fact that Rocket League is not on Apple systems right now has everything to do with Epic Games and nothing to do with actual technology.
I think they just went with a popular game that had “rocket” in it for the sentence. That and macs aren’t great for gaming.

Macs represented the minority at that time. Apple had to make people aware of their existence.

The first Apple Silicon Macs were released just a few months ago, Apple is still selling many intel Macs, there is no sign of M1 Mac overtaking PCs, and yet intel is already feeling insecure.

Agree on performance with 14nm, but let’s see how they do on battery life. M1 is on a whole different level.

I guess they can fall back on the good ole Apple hater handbook. Talk about high price, walled garden, stock price, slave labor, planned obsolescence, because they can't say anything bad about the actual product itself.

Intel probably assumed x86 code is so entrenched Apple Silicon was not going to be popular but as most computers sold these days are laptops and battery life and cool quiet running matters M1 is a game changer.

The fact that x86 software under Rosetta runs so well means the barrier to a switch is much lower and the more users on Apple Silicon the more native apps will appear which will run even better...

Ads came over as you should be using a Mac, like photoshop I’m using a Mac and I can just flick threw thumbnails with my thumb, with the awesome touchpad that macs have and the rocket thing makes one think of nasa you should be using a mac

Intel seem to spend more on marketing than development these days. AMD and Apple are bounding away from them, it’s like the late 90’s again.

The Apple Silicon architecture is a Best Fit for the MacBook Air.

Apple can go up a-little (various MacBook Pro models) & down-alittle (a lower-end MacBook Air model) from there, but NOT much in either direction.

Anything more than that is just Tim Cook's Smoke & Mirrors / Dog & Pony Show marketing.
And how do you know that? How do you know that the M1 architecture could not be significantly scaled up with higher core count, higher clock speed, higher voltage and thus achieve significantly faster performance?
