Maybe he had his head buried in the sand for that long. Gosh I knew that from my first Windows 95 machine but seriously I bought a PowerMac G5 and bought into Apples ecosystem. By no means am I saying I was right or I was wrong by doing so, it just suits my needs the best.
Head buried in sand, UNDER a rock, though. I mean, just looking at all the ads you see selling RAM, reviews of internal SSD’s… new tech being introduced constantly. Just visiting this forum you can’t help but read “I wish my Mac could be upgraded like PC’s”… that’s GOTTA make the average person at least a LITTLE curious?

I guess the only thing I can say is that I’m glad I never had it that bad to where I can be bombarded by tons of information on the internet, yet still be blissfully unaware of this non-Mac stuff.

Dump. Who writes such a super stupid, uncreative ad script? And which advertising department approves of its implementation? Intel has little sense for cool advertising, after a few seconds you see how this scam works. Really something from the stupid for the stupid.

Silly ad. Anyone that knows Apple should have been suspicious that Apple doesn't pull people into wood-paneled rooms to talk about new stuff, especially not without a billion NDA contracts.

And that guy that said, "I see games that don't play on my computer" basically figured it out. The only way that would have worked is if they were adding a WINE style layer to play PC games.

It is also interesting to think about some of their criticisms, which quite a few seem to be technical stuff that may be outside of their ken anyway. More RAM generally doesn't make one's computer run faster/smoother as is an all too common misconception. Being RAM starved to the point of a performance impact for a system usually has much more to do with sloppy software, or OS behaviors, or not removing apps/services when forgotten than more hardware being the real solution.

It is what you do with something that matters, not what it does internally to accomplish that; the UX goal is not that they want a RAM door on their computer for sake of a door, it is that they want the computer to not act/become RAM starved. Being able to throw in a slightly larger RAM stick is just one possible solution.

As a mobile developer, can’t create iOS and Android apps on a PC! Also loving my M1 , goodbye intel. Tradyhat.com

i do agree that a lot of android people go out of their way to s—t on apple, but when it comes to inferiority though — it's not like an android automatically means that it's cheap — some cost as much or even more than iphones. but that beef is definitely there.
I don't think it's about money as much as Apple's powerful, aspirational marketing. Many consumers still look at Apple's "budget" SE iPhone as better than much more expensive and technically superior Android phones. But you also have Apple's ecosystem to consider so once you buy into a cheaper iPhone, you're presumably also buying into iPads, iMacs, Watch and Apple's services too. That is seen as a commitment to an Apple lifestyle to both Apple fans and haters.

99.5% of Apple customers couldn’t care less who’s CPU is inside their Mac. (and 50% probably don’t even know what a CPU is).
Sorry but intel has really lost the plot.
Mac customers or "Apple customers", "Apple customers"= Latest iPhone and AirPods, And possibly an MBA. most people who buy an mbp of are of apple users know at least what a CPU is. and have very likely used an intel CPU.

Everyone knows that Apple's hardware sucks and is lagging behind. But people buy it because of the software.

sure, but what the problem to buy into that ecosystem if they want to be a part of it? as a bmw owner i don't talk trash about mercedes — i prefer bmw, which is why i own one.

I think most consumers are sufficiently savvy, at both ends of the spectrum (‘Mac’ and ‘PC’), to see this advert as the cherry picked biased BS that it so obviously is. But at the centre of the spectrum, you have the easily manipulated on either side, who may very well think this is real. This add is aimed partly at the easily manipulated ‘Mac’, but mostly at reassuring the easily manipulated ‘PC’ they made the ‘right choice’, keeping them as consumers.

Funny how the one thing intel contributes to these computers isn’t mentioned.

Every one of intel’s GoPC ads seems to say “PCs have a ton of advantages over Macs, none of which we had anything to do with.”
Yeah, that's because PCs that have advantages over Macs are running Ryzen

I know right! I'm just so dumb, dawg, I can't even read sometimes when I open websites??? Can you help? Thanks

Its like I'm living in a dream, this long, unending haze, I can't see a thing, I need a man, a man with clarity and purpose, to show me what is right

(the intention was to highlight and dramatize the euphoric feeling of shackles finally being removed and stepping out into the daylight after two decades of being without something, not actually seriously being unaware considering I follow freaking tech websites daily, but it's cool, I do understand the need to find something, anything to use as an angle of attack.. kinda like this Intel advert in fact. Aw yeah, he left himself open, I can call him dumb! Rock on)
Did I say you were dumb? I don’t think any of my posts mentioned that. These ads would like for you to believe that someone who knows enough to want to change their RAM manually don’t know that 3-in-1 laptops/tablets exist. I find that notion unlikely, but your post sounded JUST like the sentiments referred to in the ads… so, I figured, perhaps I’m wrong, perhaps there ARE folks like that in the world. However, as you were exaggerating for dramatic effect, we’re back to it being VERY unlikely that these folks are that myopically Apple-tized.

I'm confused, those are Intel computers? /s

We are Intel, we make such inferior chips we do a commercial to help sell computers that are not Apple. 57,000 games can be played on a PC. Apple has that many crappy games in their eco system. :)

Intel makes chips. Apple makes an ecosystem and the devices to make it work. Does Intel really think they compare?

Falsehoods:
1. not ALL Intel based laptops can upgrade the RAM after purchase !
2. 57000+ games ... are they including crap like chess or solitaire? seriously?
3. critical part : macOS users, lifetime macOS ONLY users will have a huge learning curve working in Windows. not to mention critical shortcuts like moving amongst open windows in a single application only, universal search that includes document search that does NOT continue to grow RAM endlessly: windows.edb file anyone?! known issue! (just search for this; I've seen regularly 150GB on just this file making Windows workstations useless)

4. Dual 4K TouchScreen Displays:
yeah LMAO ... and now your wrists suffer carpal tunnel or you cannot USE this as a proper laptop it's not a desktop in a laptop form factor. Meaning its NOT a laptop. It ways close to 8lbs - a brick by today's standards and has a massively huge (and at 3lbs) power adapter! No.

PS: Apple do NOT include Ethernet on power adapter for 14/16" MBPs ... it's dumb, increases the size and cumbersome as a proper portable computing device. Much small to use a dongle or better include a small expandable port for when needed (heck even HP, Lenovo and Dell don't do this on their top line laptops, workstations are different).

MS Teams - bloated communications that does NOT even allow cross communication/1-way communication with Skype for Business (hello Microsoft did you forget this?!) BUT allows your status to be updated 1 way to Skype?

When you have too many balls bouncin around not know what the other is doing eventually they'll collide and yeah if you're thinking of genitalia in software it's JUST as gross when software fails miserably!

If a windows PC didn't run windows then sure I'd give it a whirl. I use a Mac for OSX. No matter what the hardware is, it runs windows which is a deal breaker for me.

I have an M1 MacBook Air, waiting for the new MBP. Couldn't be more pleased with the power and efficiency of this machine, and Big Sur as it has matured.

that would actually be useful for business travel - and could probably be constructed without a lot of overhead
(given that there isn't that big a difference between an M1 MacBook and iPad).

At home I might prefer a dedicated iPad - but for business travel and integrated into a laptop - I would love this.

and they could charge a serious premium that people would pay. Like you mentioned, both run the M1 now, so it seems very possible. Just put all of the guts in the display/iPad portion.

They’re not wrong in that fanboy-ism will cause consumers, and especially a subset of Apple customers, to dismiss other brands out of sheer loyalty or perceived superiority of their ecosystem. But c’mon, Intel, this is a bad look for you.
Agree with your first sentence but honestly I think showing how dumb fanboy-ism is, being the sole reason you make a purchase decision, is good marketing/advertising. It's kind of the only hope to be able to penetrate these mature locked in markets at this point.

It's ok to be a fan of a brands products but I think people owe it to themselves to do some research because there could be a better product for them.

I like this ad because it is a great reminder of what we should be able to do with such high priced devices and machines. I have a MacBook that feels severely handicapped and can only use it for browsing and coding. YouTube and twitch videos are causing my fans to go nuts while using big sur.
Please tell me it's an M1 Mac and that you didn't just make this comment about an INTEL Mac...

Wait, were YOU like the people in this ad that, ONLY with the purchase of a new PC, did you realize things like adding a second SSD, more RAM, changing the battery were possible and has been possible on PC’s all this time? I’ve been using Macs and have liked them for awhile, but I’ve always known about PC’s and have helped folks upgrade theirs (wading through different memory options can be challenging for the uninitiated).
I thought the breakthrough was upgradable notebooks?

It’s so fake. Smells of desperation. And fear of what the M2 will look like (and even more what Apple will put in the next-gen Mac Pro).
