Well it seems this is the most recent joke “advertising” from intel marketing team. Intel makes CPU and NUC, I don’t remember them making tablets or laptops or even an OS. Windows on the other hand makes an OS and hardware. Am I missing something.
Is it a gimmick to include a touch screen on a laptop, dunno maybe some apps may benefit and I know some elderly people get confused between iPad and Mac by touching the screen but it’s an initial mistake that is corrected no harm done just one of those oops moments. Most of my laptop converting tablet friends usually use the keyboard and mouse and initially showed me the touchscreen capabilities but in daily use they hardly use it as only a few elements provide an advantage.
Upgrading RAM, that would be nice but since I have owned laptops and desktops for over 25+ years I have only done this a few times on my iMac and Pismo MacBook Pro, then again at that stage of my life I was on a financial budget. Now I usually get what I believe will fit my requirements for 3-5 years or just upgrade the entire machine with a trade-in.
No mention of upgrading storage, did I miss something intel. Would be nice again but I have cloud storage and external drives including a NAS. I usually do the same with storage as I do RAM.
OS I much prefer Mac, gaming is on my Nvidia Shield, then again there is cloud gaming but I prefer the Shield experience.
Tablet I have both an iOS and Android, prefer iOS as its more polished but with iPadOS 15 it’s not looking like it’s getting much attention from Apple.
Most of these OEMs will not support their hardware past 1-2 year, three if you are lucky. Warranty and repair yeah forget it. I know people who have had MacBookPro for close to a decade with no problems and macOS updates along the way.
I guess the saying “you get what you pay for” holds true in my anecdotal experience.
M1 MBA upgraded from a 2017 intel MBA, the M1 is by far my favourite laptop of them all.
