Wow, Intel is really worried about their future. ARM seems to be the future of chips and Intel might become a company of the past. It also makes me wonder what Apple has up its sleeve for the next iteration of Apple Silicon. What does Intel know that we don’t? Is Apple about to leapfrog Intel? I guess we’ll see.

Ninety percent of the world's PCs run Intel and Windows. That isn't going to change any time soon. Apple Silicon is a blip.

Businesses around the world rely on Intel based virtualized servers running on things like vmware and Intel. That isn't going away either.

While I like the concept of Mx (running iPad apps on Macs is fascinating to me), the world isn't going to suddenly run to Macs on Mx's.

Are they kidding, 'what are you missing?' 'touchscreen' 'touchscreen' 'touchscreen'. Not a second that I thought about that.
Guess I'm oldschool.
I do not get why so many people seem to think a lack of a touch screen is a deal breaker for a laptop or desktop PC. I don't like using a touch screen to interact with my iPad TBH, mostly because after a little while the screen is covered in fingerprints.

I can't imagine that the ergonomics of operating a touch screen in a typical "sitting at a desk in front of a monitor" scenario can be great for you either. Gives me RSI just thinking about it.

Comeback? Intel never left, they’re still the market leader.

Then why is Intel trying so hard to appeal to Mac users and their 7% market share?

Smells like desperation. :p

Look... I'm a Windows guy. Always have been. My primary computer is a beefy custom-built Intel desktop.

But my next desktop will be built with AMD Ryzen inside. Sorry Intel.

And my next laptop will be an M1 Macbook Air. I've already been using iPhones and iPads for decades so I want to dip a toe into the Mac world. Battery life on M1 machines makes it great for a portable computer. No Intel there either.

But I'm just one man. I'm not gonna affect Intel. Like the comment above says... Intel isn't going away anytime soon. So again... why does Intel seem so desperate lately?

These ads are cringe.

Now you see what you did wrong here Intel? You've failed on a psychology level at the first hurdle.

If your argument is that Apple fans react with sensation when they think they are using Apple products, then the reaction these people are giving are genuinely because they believe they are using a new Apple product. Not because of the device being a PC powered by Intel.

Why is Intel taking credit for all of those machines?

My challenge to Intel: imagine how much more impressive those designs will be when Intel processors are substituted out for modern, efficient, high performance, heterogenous processors.

Apple isn't the threat, you goons, Arm is. Or RISC-V, or whatever modern system design someone decides to put into a dual touch screen, interchangeable part, origami, game playing machine you don't design or build.

My work laptop has all of this, but it annoys me because it gets hot and loud with seemingly no real load at all. (thanks Intel)
I never use it in "Tablet mode" because the programs i use are not really made for it and the OS isn't really either.

My M1 Air is sitting on my lap right now and staying cool and quiet.
MacOS in it's current form wouldn't be great as a tablet either.

Did anyone catch the 9:41 Easter egg (and jab) right at the beginning. Looks soooooo petty and bitter. LOOOOL

I’m sure Apple is very happy about this MS campaign. Intel owns a vast majority of the desktop and laptop market, and they are so threatened that they need to specifically create FUD around Apple. I’m sure the Apple Silicon department is like yes team we are making a dent! Secondly, I’m sure Apple is really happy that MS is burning money on a pretty cringey campaign. I’m not saying their talking points are invalid, but the presentation is not good. Let’s see if Apple responds.

Intel looking like the awkward kid who decides to try to be fashionable and turns up in school in clothes from a decade ago.
There's even a sprinkle of bitterness in this line of marketing against Apple.

Honestly, I worked for a while in film when I was younger. Many of these "social experiments" are done in a manner to tell a predetermined narrative. For example, they probably filmed several if not hundreds of people, and only show the ones that fit the narrative. This percentage of people could be anything: 80%, 50%, 1% or even less but by presenting it in this way they are attempting to give the impression that "everyone" is this way. The fact that they don't release the number of people tested, and tout that, suggests to me that it's a lower percentage.

The real problem I see is its insulting to the people they are trying to recruit. They really are basically telling them they are mindless drones who are too stupid to realize what is going on. Doesn't really make me want to switch to that company if you ask me.

Good point... it's probably targeted more towards existing PC/Intel users to make them feel a little cooler... "Look how silly and sheep-like the Apple crowd is", all while totally missing the mark and failing to be cool.

Ooh wow Intel that is like watching a bad reality / gameshow. Looks so fake / staged.

But I suppose that could happen to non tech people how live in a bubble?

Anyway I could make the same statement I make about Android phones… it folds yeah nice perhaps but it still runs Android. Same thing here only replace Android by Windows ;)

For sure and it would have been a terrible commercial to show every single person asking for a Mac. It's advertising so it will say what they want it to say. I do wonder, as someone pointed out, why do they care? Apple is not anywhere near the market share. Shouldn't they be concerned about AMD not Apple? m I'm failing to see what their problem is, other than they are crying like upset teens.

I buy Mac Book Pro for two reasons:

1) They look better
2) The ecosystem

It's never been about the hardware, the keyboard has been awful.

The software to some degree, a unix operating system without the Linux hassle.

hello there, i’m european,
i would like to know the reference you are making about chevy.
thanks.
ps. the intel ad its just embarrassing.
bye
"Chevy" is just the shorthand word for the Chevrolet company that was perceived as among the best automobile makers many years ago. Today (and for quite some time) it has been overtaken by Japanese and European makers. The comparison to Intel is similar in the eyes of the original poster, likely supported by many of the posters in this thread.

I do not want a touch screen. I do not want a foldable laptop/tablet combo. I don’t really care about gaming. But I would take upgradable hardware.

so I guess 1/4 for me….

I’m not an idiot. I know about windows PC’s. I don’t want them because they are crap and I’m speaking from first hand experience. I started using a Mac in 2015 and I won’t go back to windows. I’m on my second Mac. My first MacBook is 6.5 years old and I’ve had 0 problems with it. I still have it and it works really well. I couldn’t even make it past 6 months with any windows laptop/PC before I started experiencing hardware and software failures and by the end of 2 years they had had multiple hardwear repairs and needed to be replaced due to a combination of hardware and software issues.
