It’s pathetic. No new buttons and wifi for the 2023 iPhone unless you buy the ridiculously priced one. I hope they go broke.Nothing new to see here....

Multiple rumors have suggested that the next-generation iPhone 15 models will adopt the Wi-Fi 6E standard that Apple has already introduced in the iPad Pro and MacBook Pro, and now a leaked document appears to confirm Apple's plans.

I'm more than happy to be the beta tester. I'll report back to the forums in September.so it looks like the ‘Pro’ iPhones are going to be the hardware guinea pigs from now on. Fine by me. First adopters pay the price by being hardware beta testers. Better to wait a generation to get a more refined product
All cloud services scan files for CSAM.You know what else has Wifi6E? Google Pixel6a for $450 which runs GrapheneOS that does not scan your iCloud files like Apple Does!
But it seems to be an "artificial" gap for $$$$. I love Apple, but things like RAM and storage upgrades generally seem unfairly/overpriced across all their devices. Oh, what the heck do I know, "Take My Money" Apple. The gap between the pro and regular models continues to increase
So once 100 million iPhone 15 Pro phones are using 6Ghz and every other home has a 6E router using 6Ghz, is it still a less used frequency range or does it become congested also? Then what? It’s not just about speed. 6Ghz is a less used frequency range, so it’s less likely to suffer interference. Having 6Ghz available as well as the other frequencies guarantees a more stable and reliable connection.
Doesn’t make sense though, from an iOS release standpoint. If you release iOS in the spring, then it’s lost its “Shiny new” factor with the Pro phones. And if you don’t, you lose the benefit of any new features included with non-pro (e.g. Satellite communications, crash detection on iPhone 14).Apple wants to have the consumers purchase only the Pro models. Apple seriously needs to consider moving the regular dollar iPhone lineup in the Spring event. Save the Fall event just for the Pro models exclusively.
Yeah, I just read up on it, crazy speeds, it will definitely kill ethernet at this rate, and it will undoubtedly give 5G some competition. Many people told me by the time Apple adopts Wi-Fi 6E. Wi-Fi 7 will be out in the market. 😇
It's unlikely that any wireless technology is going to surpass (or "kill") Ethernet any time soon when it comes to latency and sustained, consistent throughput. Also, while walls and other barriers will attenuate wireless signals, cables can be made to go through them when it comes to optimally interconnecting nodes.Yeah, I just read up on it, crazy speeds, it will definitely kill ethernet at this rate, and it will undoubtedly give 5G some competition.
HomePod doesn't need anything more than basic WiFi. just streaming musinc, it doesn't need that bandwidth.Unsurprising as the new HomePod features just Wi-Fi 4. Maybe iPhone 15 (non-pro) will feature up to Wi-Fi 5.
pnnies/phone is lot for Apple as they sell a lot of them.Just imagine if they do this after switching to in-house chips, and presumably saving those precious pennies...
Then they'll really have no excuse.
that was Steve Job's philosophy. Is it just me or does the existence of the “Pro” model backfire for other people, too?
Its high price tag makes it completely uninteresting. And it’s existence makes the other iPhone lame by comparison and absolutely not worth getting.
So you end up just not buying an iPhone at all.
IDK, I don’t feel that way about the Mac lineup. I was fine with it when it was just a Plus and regular iPhone. But the “Pro” iPhones really rub me the wrong way. They just make the entire iPhone brand seem icky.
Agree, WiFi 5 GHz in my phone is soo slow, i need ethernet port on my phone to stream 8K movies now. It’s pathetic. No new buttons and wifi for the 2023 iPhone unless you buy the ridiculously priced one. I hope they go broke.
As an average user (when it comes to the phones), I don't care about paying a premium for all of the camera updates. Instead, I'm looking for the newly released features to be in a phone I buy. When I see that they "differentiate" their lineup by making the iPhone 14 practically the same as the 13, then I just tell myself to wait yet another year to buy a phone that has the majority of features I'm interested in (especially as concerns OS UI functions, connectivity, and speed). Why is everyone so upset??
They need to differentiate between the regular and pro models. And this is a perfect example of something they can justify to limit to the pro model.
I’m a pro user and even I don’t care that much about wifi 6e. Let alone average users.
That's not the point at all though. It's including it on the 15 Pros but not the 15s that's rubbing people the wrong way, it's bean counting at its finest.99% of the people complaining here won't even notice any difference if i hand them a phone with WiFi 6/7.
Absolutely not true. I yearly upgrade not only for the camera, but especially for the modems. The signal quality improves substantially with each modem upgrade, especially with the 5G modems (the current iPhone 14 modem is the Qualcomm X65). The upcoming X70 modem, to appear next week in the Samsung S23 and in the iPhone 15 has even much better performance both with better signal reach and with lower power use.Agreed, I refuse to pay that much for a phone, and now that they seem to be increasingly nerfing the non-pro iPhones I'm feeling like I'll just be upgrading much less frequently. Reality is progress has slowed so much you aren't really missing much with a 2-3 generation old iPhone these days anyway.
The gap between the pro and regular models continues to increase
