I guess this is where they start to offer features to prop up the iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max over the iPhone 15. Sad.

Really how hard would it be to use a newer WiFi chip on all the iPhone 15 models?

Curious what one would be doing on an iPhone that needs the speed afforded by WIFI 6E over WIFI 6? I have Gigabit internet at home with WIFI6 and my iPhone 13 PM can't even use all the bandwidth.

If we've learned anything following the M2 Pro/Max chip saga, these types of leaks aren't to be trusted like they were in the past.

Its also such a tiny detail that it doesn't really matter. Wifi 6 or 6E, most users won't have fast enough internet to have it make sense.
It makes a big difference for people who work from home. Not so much for phones, but when copying large amounts of data from computer to computer or backing things up to local storage, it can be a big difference.
Just imagine if they do this after switching to in-house chips, and presumably saving those precious pennies...

Then they'll really have no excuse.
In house chips are probably why they are doing it. With an early batch, they can probably only make a few of the new chips. They go into the premium products. The chips from other vendors go into the not so premium products.
ppl obsessing over 1200mpbs download when their isp only gives me 100mbps
Some people have home networks and need to move a lot of data around. For much of that, we can use hard connections, but you never know when you want to transfer some very large files from a laptop and you don't want to take the time to disconnect devices from the router.

They're getting really desperate over in Cupertino. Which feature is going to be a pro exclusive next? 6G? Bluetooth 6?
And what features will be exclusive to the Ultra? Periscope lens? Dual front camera? Titanium frame? Apple tries to do everything to edge people to buy the more/most expensive model they offer.

Wifi is faster than your internet connection and 5ghz 1gbps local is already plenty fast. I don’t see the point. It’s a phone not a desktop m

* Consumers/Operators will have to purchase a Mesh 6E network base station for this feature to be recognized at their home or third party networks offering WiFi services.

Whatever. Good Wifi 6E routers are still expensive anyways. I’m still sitting here waiting patiently for Apple to relaunch the Airport. No one asked for a HomePod. We want a router instead!

Lol. Apple is losing its grip. Trying to make the pro the only, but really normal people will just try other similar priced cheaper phones like pixel and flip. It’s not like iPhone is giving you much these days to command the price.. and I’m the person that upgraded most years. Imagine normal people value proposition

I haven’t cared about WiFi speed on iPhones in several years. At this point they seem to be relatively minor improvements.

The lives of 100 MacRumors members who are power users will probably end… But the vast majority of iPhone consumers won’t give two emoji poos.

Apple wants to have the consumers purchase only the Pro models. Apple seriously needs to consider moving the regular dollar iPhone lineup in the Spring event. Save the Fall event just for the Pro models exclusively.
If their trend of making the regular iPhone use last year’s Pro hardware continues I wouldn’t be surprised to see this happen someday.

Just looking at the purported iPhone 15 Pro technical schematic in question. It indicates there are 10 separate antennas. Wow, that seems like a lot! I know nothing about antenna technology. Is anyone else surprised?
That diagram really is amazing.

No worries, by the time WiFi6E propagates widely, it will trickle down to Apple’s non-Pro devices too.

6E is outdated as its being released because Wi-Fi 7 is going to replace it very soon. Wi-Fi 6E is the shortest lived variant so far from what I remember, its short lived tech because the 6E signals cant get past a puff of steam from your your kettle, its not needed on an iPhone, Wi-Fi 6 is fine with WPA3 AES (and thats been hacked so many times its embarrassing) unless you want a line sight iPhone, but hey look no interference, oh and no signal! Yes I have a 6E router and I cant wait for Wi-Fi 7 which should be along in 2024, and loads of draft routers coming this year probably that wont work with the final draft as usual.

Also the Wi-Fi alliance want it ratified much quicker than 6E was. Wi-Fi 6 using 5Ghz but at 80 MHz is fine for a phone or a tablet not 160 MHz which leaves just two channels open at 160 Mhz so oh how your neighbours love you if you stomp on them using 160 Mhz and yourself in the process as your network has collisions like its in orbit being hit with debris every few seconds like the James Webb telescope. Even iPhones at present cant use 160 Mhz, not sure about iPads with 6E but I can imagine with the caveats on those most stick to 5Ghz at 80 Mhz anyway. 6E is short lived sort distanced due to the spectrum in many countries they have enabled it on, so its great for VR in the same room as the router but beside that most new devices are happy using Wi-Fi 6 with MU-MIMO.

I don't get why people want their phones to operate as fast as a desktop when at least for for myself its the most horrible way to use the internet, give me an iPad any day and let phones be phones and you know do phone things with them, like dare I say call people!

This is very interesting information from a technical point of view. But I feel uncomfortable with the way it was obtained. Maybe not necessary for MacRumors to go this path. Staying with simple "Kuo" rumours should be fine too.

It's sad apple has to CUT (cheap) features to make the PRO stand out... instead they could be adding features that are PRO only...

I mean the non PRO still costs 1000EUR. It's not like you are paying nothing

Documents that he has obtained also confirm that the iPhone 15 Pro models will feature faster 3nm A17 chips and solid-state volume and power buttons. The iPhone 15 models will continue to use A16 chips, as previously rumored, and will not feature the redesigned volume buttons.
Nothing new to see here....
