was really looking forward to having the iphone in my hands on friday, but it might come next week
bad times.
I don't see how this is any different from any other product launch apple has done. I've pre-ordered both the iPad, and ipad2, and both of them arrived on launch day. I'm in Australia by the way. I'm confident, regardless of what the order status says, I will receive the phone on Friday. This is how they operate.
I agree, as this is a preorder you will find that the dispatch will not be from the factory. Instead each country has been allocated a set amount which has been shipped. The total shipment amount would consist of a set number for apple stores, telco, and yes preorders. If you where early enough with your order and made it in the first batch then it should be distributed from within the country.....
This is what I believe anyway, at least I hope I am correct as I so want my new phone by the end of the week.![]()
Some Canadians have phoned and complained to Apple Customer Service, they said they will not ship until the 14th and they'll arrive the next week. Apple Customer Service was apologetic and gave them free bumpers and changed a fews shipping from standard to expedited but they still said that they wouldn't get them till next week.
I'm beginning to wonder if Apple didn't do this deception on purpose to boost Pre-sales numbers.
What deception. Apple hasn't deceived anyone. They never said people would get their phones by the 14th.
Go back and read page 1. Most people are inquiring about the difference in wording between US and International orders and presuming that they WON'T have them on Friday until some idiot tells them they'll definitely have them by Friday. But its very obvious that vast majority of people even on this thread felt they were lead to believe that they would get them on launch day.
Yes. Apple purposely mislead consumers into preordering so they'd go stand in line and buy a second one on Friday and boost the sales numbers.![]()
What does my lack of postcount have to do with your ridiculous claim that a significant proportion of preorder customers are going to attempt to buy a second iPhone so they can have it 72 hours sooner?
Hey everyone, in Vancouver, Canada here. I just called the Apple Store (1-800-MY-APPLE), checked my order with the voice assist, then asked to talk to a person and the guy explicitly said I would be getting mine delivered on Friday.
I asked 'My order status says 'shipped by Oct. 14th', does that mean it'll be delivered on the 14th?'
He said yes.
I asked 'Are you sure?"
He said yes.
I asked 'Wait...I'm in Canada, does that mean I'm still getting it on the 14th?"
He said yes.
In Ontario they operate out of Markham, however, from experience I've never received an iPhone from their Canadian warehouse (comes from the US). I've seen some incredible shipping speeds, it's completely possible for product to be shipped tomorrow from China for delivery on Friday. That said, I'm starting to think it's just not gonna happen.
So you're now suggesting that Apple are "hoping people will buy a second one" to *insignificantly* "boost the sales numbers"? Yes. That sounds plausible. Apple are "deceiving" customers to make little to no difference to the sales numbers.Typical strawman argument where in my post did I use the word "significant". I used "lots" which is very subjective it could mean 10, 100, 1000, 100 000.
What Mr. C. said.
I know I'm impatient and really want my 4S to arrive on Friday - but when we ordered online the website clearly said 'Ships by 14th October' before we placed the order. It never said delivered by that date. There were no promises and there is no deception, just our eager anticipation making us impatient.

I was just about to ask if you were in Sydney. Because that is Australia's man international docking place. So you would be most likely to get earlier, well because they don't then have to transfer the stock to another state. I'm in Adelaide and when I was tracking my MacBook, it took another day to transfer from Sydney to Adelaide. BUT I am still being positive about it all. There is still a chance. A small one. But we will see what happens.

Our phones will be checked in on the Cathay Pacific HKG-ADL flight that arrives Thursday, and be out for delivery Friday morning. Don't worry. They won't need to go to Sydney with all the others.
