I don't see how this is any different from any other product launch apple has done. I've pre-ordered both the iPad, and ipad2, and both of them arrived on launch day. I'm in Australia by the way. I'm confident, regardless of what the order status says, I will receive the phone on Friday. This is how they operate.

I agree, as this is a preorder you will find that the dispatch will not be from the factory. Instead each country has been allocated a set amount which has been shipped. The total shipment amount would consist of a set number for apple stores, telco, and yes preorders. If you where early enough with your order and made it in the first batch then it should be distributed from within the country.....

This is what I believe anyway, at least I hope I am correct as I so want my new phone by the end of the week. :)

That's not been the case with previous Apple preorders, including iPhones, iPads and this year's Mac Mini.

Gold coast Australia..

I got my order acknowledgement for a white 32g at 8:06pm release day and it still says processing to be shipped by the 14th..lucky me !! But the IP4 dock I ordered in the same order was delivered yesterday and is sitting on my desk with my funky old IP4 sitting in it.. ;)

Good news..?

Just read this on another thread:

I had a quick flick through the UK iPhone 4 thread yesterday. This seemed to be the timeline. Remember, it was a Thursday launch, so everything should be a day later this time.

By Tuesday evening, nobody had any movement on their delivery status. However, if people logged in through the US site it was saying that it was being prepared for dispatch.

Tuesday night (in fact, the early hours of Wednesday): Items started being marked as dispatched, with delivery stated as by Thursday.

Wednesday morning: Some items started to be delivered.

Thursday: Almost all preorders delivered.

So, don't worry about delivery status not changing. For the iPhone 4, it was literally just a few hours between some items being marked as dispatched and orders starting to arrive.

If the status hasn't changed by Thursday morning then we may have a problem, not before. It is certainly no concern that they haven't changed yet.

Some Canadians have phoned and complained to Apple Customer Service, they said they will not ship until the 14th and they'll arrive the next week. Apple Customer Service was apologetic and gave them free bumpers and changed a fews shipping from standard to expedited but they still said that they wouldn't get them till next week.

I'm beginning to wonder if Apple didn't do this deception on purpose to boost Pre-sales numbers.

What deception. Apple hasn't deceived anyone. They never said people would get their phones by the 14th.

The sense of entitlement here is amazing.

The Canadian website clearly said orders would be shipped out by Friday, not, as it said on the American website, be delivered on Friday. There was no deception whatsoever.

You would think, having had to wait *five weeks* after the US for the iPhone 4, that the Canadians preorder customers wouldn't care about having to wait for the following Monday or Tuesday for the 4S. If not, well, you know where your nearest Apple store is.

Yes, I'd like my iPhone ASAP too, and I'm hoping it ships a little early and I get it on Friday, but I certainly didn't *expect* it to.

What Mr. C. said.

I know I'm impatient and really want my 4S to arrive on Friday - but when we ordered online the website clearly said 'Ships by 14th October' before we placed the order. It never said delivered by that date. There were no promises and there is no deception, just our eager anticipation making us impatient.

If they weren't going to ship them until the 14th why bother having people order them so far in advance.

Personally it's not a big deal, its a phone not a heart lung machine.

But its very obvious that vast majority of people even on this thread felt they were lead to believe that they would get them on launch day. They could have just had the International stores start selling them on Friday the 14th, but then they wouldn't have counted as record breaking pre-orders. Why would they choose the 14th as the ship by date, not the 15th or the 16th? They wanted people to think they were getting them on the 14th, now they probably hope that people that ordered one now go and stand in line and get a second one to boast sales numbers (because they wont correct the numbers when the previously order phones are returned).

They still might arrive who knows, its a phone, everyone will live. Friday would have been nice as it's my day off so id be there to get it.

Yes. Apple purposely mislead consumers into preordering so they'd go stand in line and buy a second one on Friday and boost the sales numbers.

Go back and read page 1. Most people are inquiring about the difference in wording between US and International orders and presuming that they WON'T have them on Friday until some idiot tells them they'll definitely have them by Friday.

There will be lots of people who will, haven't read any of these threads. I see you've been here since 2008 and have 4 post 3 of which are in this thread, you seem really interested i this topic.

What does my lack of postcount have to do with your ridiculous claim that a significant proportion of preorder customers are going to attempt to buy a second iPhone so they can have it 72 hours sooner?

Even if a significant 10% of international preorderers were stupid enough to line up for a second iPhone that they're unlikely to get their hands on, that'd be something like 50,000 additional phones. That's not going to make a dent in their first weekend sales.

Hey everyone, in Vancouver, Canada here. I just called the Apple Store (1-800-MY-APPLE), checked my order with the voice assist, then asked to talk to a person and the guy explicitly said I would be getting mine delivered on Friday.

I asked 'My order status says 'shipped by Oct. 14th', does that mean it'll be delivered on the 14th?'

He said yes.

I asked 'Are you sure?"

He said yes.

I asked 'Wait...I'm in Canada, does that mean I'm still getting it on the 14th?"

He said yes.

Typical strawman argument where in my post did I use the word "significant". I used "lots" which is very subjective it could mean 10, 100, 1000, 100 000.

According to the customer service people delivery could be Tuesday, Wednesday, which is more than 72 hours by the way, if your math escapes you.

And how does that really differ from what the wait now says on the web site 1-2 weeks. Why didn't say the wait was 1 week-2 weeks when the store opened. because its obviously going to be at least 7 days and probably 10 or more.

Good I hope thats the case.

In Ontario they operate out of Markham, however, from experience I've never received an iPhone from their Canadian warehouse (comes from the US). I've seen some incredible shipping speeds, it's completely possible for product to be shipped tomorrow from China for delivery on Friday. That said, I'm starting to think it's just not gonna happen.

I agree. The Markham site is for special purpose sales: wrong device sent from China so Markham provides, the proper replacement. I thought the Markham site also functions as a source for quick replacement of defective items. Could be wrong, however every new Mac, iPad, or IPhone has shipped super speedy from China.

Really hoping to get mine on Friday!!!

So you're now suggesting that Apple are "hoping people will buy a second one" to *insignificantly* "boost the sales numbers"? Yes. That sounds plausible. Apple are "deceiving" customers to make little to no difference to the sales numbers.

Instead of saying 2million in the first weekend they can issue a press release saying 2.05 million. Or 2.005 million. Yes, that'll make all the difference.

Please. The very implication that Apple want to boost sales numbers implies that it'd be somewhat significant.

And that's ridiculous.

Apple are going to sell out of their launch day allocation regardless.

Canada here.

Just ordered 5 minutes ago. 64 GB iPhone 4S White.

Order status says "Delivers Oct 25 - Nov 1."

still no chance for the order status to be changed.

planning to line up at apple store on friday instead.

canada...

We are always impatient for a new product. But the thing is when I was on the Australia Apple site and started my pre order, on the first two screens it did actually say Delivers By 14th. And then on the final page, it suddenly changed to Ships By 14th. And when I was making the order, I got so confused, and was annoyed that it suddenly changed!

I was just about to ask if you were in Sydney. Because that is Australia's man international docking place. So you would be most likely to get earlier, well because they don't then have to transfer the stock to another state. I'm in Adelaide and when I was tracking my MacBook, it took another day to transfer from Sydney to Adelaide. BUT I am still being positive about it all. There is still a chance. A small one. But we will see what happens.

Our phones will be checked in on the Cathay Pacific HKG-ADL flight that arrives Thursday, and be out for delivery Friday morning. Don't worry. :D They won't need to go to Sydney with all the others.

The only scheduled Cathay Pacific flight leaves at HKG at 11:35pm and arrives in ADL at 10:35am Thursday morning. How do you know they would be on this flight in?
