Fingers crossed. I ordered the latest MacBook air on release day and it arrived the next day (or the day after) shipped from a local distribution centre. With the more compact size of the UK (compared to the US), it makes sense to ship them to one point and then split them when they get here I suppose.

Ordered mine as soon as the store came up and still got the "Processing" status too.

Yeah I think they've changed how their store works from last year because I was able to track my original iPad from Shenzhen to my city. I think I'll wait until Wednesday/Thursday to start worrying :p

Same here, I was refreshing every two seconds and soon as it went up I was going through the store and had it ordered within a minute or two and received my confirmation email within half an hour.

All international orders will change to "preparing to ship" on Thursday, and "shipped" Friday - when they'll also be delivered.

Just have a little faith.

I hope so :) Everyone's getting a bit stressed out. Relaaaax

me too.

Germany, ordered a 64GB black directly after site start, still processing "ships by 14th October".

Last year, I ordered an I4 to my UK address at 16th June. It was sent at 1st July from China with TNT Express. It arrived at 5th of July.

Hi everyone, have just gotten off the phone with Apple Support. They have confirmed that all iPhone 4S' will only be posted on Friday with an expected delivery date of Monday/Tuesday next week.

I asked why their American customers were getting preferential treatment as numerous reports have confirmed that US customers are receiving shipment confirmation and was advised that they are unable to comment on the release schedule for other countries.

The agent further confirmed that their head office have confirmed that the information he gave me is accurate.

Not sure about customers outside of the UK, but for us Brits the party is over.

Seriously pissed off right now, I ordered within the first 5 minutes of the site being up. Why on earth should we be treated with less respect and urgency than their American customers?

Am seriously considering the cancellation of my order and the move to Android over this.

Yep looks like Americans get the special treatment...again. I'm considering just going to the store on Friday now.

thats rubbish man we waited soo long for it we were one of the first to order, its called pre order for a reason i really am considering cancellation of the iphone and saving my 500 quid after this... it's horrendous!!! not happy at all!

I'm actually  but at least I'm guaranteed one. I don't think I'm up to standing about like a snowman outside the Apple store on Friday morning. It's freezing here these days. No thank you. I'm sure waiting another couple days won't hurt.

So assuming it left China on 27th Sept and was delivered to me on 4th Oct thats delivery 7 days after dispatch.

If ours don't come by Friday I may have to join the line at my local Apple Store and return the shipped one when it arrives.

I think the 7 day estimate is probably inaccurate, my MBA shipped from China to me (in UK) in less than 4 days. But I think it's well within your right to pick up a phone at your local Apple store if you don't get your phone on Friday.

My MacBook took 3 days to get from China to Sydney! Unless they had different shipment methods. I'm assuming our precious iPhones will be travelling by air then? I hope I see "Preparing for Shipment" tomorrow, but at the same time I don't want to be disappointed. Imagine spending the whole weekend waiting for delivery, when everyone is already playing with theirs bought directly from the telcos... I just want to test out Siri so badly!

I think 3-4 days from China sounds about right.

I'm starting to think that Apple aren't going to let us track the iPhones from China this year. I think they are going to ship all the iPhones to their distribution warehouses in the countries where they are being delivered before we see any change on the website. I'm guessing they won't get there until tomorrow or Thursday. Once they get there they will be send out with next day delivery for delivery on Thursday/Friday.

That could work, assuming the couriers can cope with volume. I am sure some shipments will sneak through on Thursday deliveries and some may crawl out on Saturday. I put my work address for delivery so if it comes on Saturday, I'll have to wait until Monday to pick up!

Yep looks like Americans get the special treatment...again. I'm considering just going to the store on Friday now.

Well, it's probably not a very 'nice' thing to do but I can't disagree with you! For instance there are people that sold their phones on ebay or recycled and are waiting without phones! What's the point of pre-ordering if you don't get your hands on your purchase until days after it hits the shops! Now if you live miles away from an apple store, I can understand the logic. But I work 5 mins walk away from an apple store and I am not spending the weekend without a phone! I am picking one up on Friday. If they have stock that is! But here's hoping I will be positively surprised and get my phone delivered by TNT on Friday morning :apple:

My one is also still processing - got it about 2 mins after pre-orders started. I find it hard to believe that it'll only ship on the 14th as it does say - ships by the 14th so I guess it has to ship before that?

This is also the point of pre-orders..... it worked fine for the iphone 4 - can't see why it wouldn't work for the iphone 4s - either way I'll call them today or tomorrow to find out - maybe I'll get a different story....

just got of the phone with apple, was told that it will ship ON the 14th - but it won't ship from China or where ever they ship it from, it'll ship from the UK. The lady told me I might even get it on Friday since I live near the depot.

hi i dont know if you will be able to help me much but its worth a try...im in bolton northwest? do you think il get mine on friday? thanks pal

Well good luck to you mate, but I doubt it. I can't think of a single courier company that will pick up an assignment from a company on Friday and then deliver on the same day.

I wonder if you can email Tim Cook directly like people used to do to Steve.

I was told the depot is near London, I'd say everyone who ordered early, should get it by Monday the latest

Hope is not lost

I chatted with a rep today with Apple, and when asked about pre-orders, this is the reply - enjoy :) I've bolded her replies.

I ordered from the UK :)

You are chatting with Angela, an Apple Expert
Hi, my name is Angela. Welcome to Apple!
Good afternoon. Thank you for your Chat. How can I help you today?
Hello, I have a question about my order for the iPhone 4S
Order Number: XXX
No problem!
How can I help you?
What is the expected ship date? I am aware of what the system is saying, but I would like to know what Head Office are saying.
Have you used the online self service link to track your order?
Yes, I am confused. It says it has been Dispatched
But it also says, ships by Oct 14
Fantastic!
Did you preorder last Friday?
Sure did!
Brilliant.
The phones will be sent out on a first ordered first delivered basis - with the first phones being delivered on October 14th.

AWESOME!
So they'll be shipped before October 14, and then Delivered for launch day?
That's right.

just called the Apple support in Germany. It was a honest man ;)

They do not have detailed information about the start of shipment. It can be delivered at 14th, but it also can also start at 14th. The only thing he said was, that a number of devices are in stock in Prague and delivered from CZ, but the rest will be delivered from China.

That is the first honest and true statement! They don´t know it.
Al this is arranged by people much higher than the boys and girls in the call-center.

I'm not sure what the deal was in the UK but when the original iPhone was released, Australia waited at least six months before an iPhone came out, so I think we should just count ourselves lucky that there's the possibility that we only have to wait until next week to get our iPhone 4S as opposed to even the end of the month, which is when other countries have to wait until it is released!

Apple is a US company. I think they are well within their rights to launch on a US-only basis and could have probably appeased a lot of Americans discontent over being shafted from a Friday 14 October dispatch to a 1-2 week wait which is what happened to a lot of people who weren't able to pre-order fast enough.

As much as it sucks, and I am in the same boat as everyone else, we are just going to have to sit it out over the weekend and be rational and calm about this.

Would Steve have wanted us to be so upset? No. He would not.

PS. Let's just cast out mind to the starving people in the world who probably don't even know what an iPhone is.

The end.

I think the only thing that annoys me is the influx of bad infomation coming from apple online clerks/phone CSRs

I have taken the day off work on friday to await delivery and if it comes next week I will miss the delivery!

I ordered a couple of minutes after pre order starts! so I should be getting this ON friday!
