I wish they had a TV schedule grid for live / broadcast content by channel / app.... similar to what you get on a cable tv box. Obviously that wouldn't work as much for on demand content, but I didn't like their requirement to use Siri to find live streaming content.
this.

The live streaming channels you have access to with your provider subscription need to be shown somewhere along with what's currently streaming. I can never remember what apps offer live streams, and having to go into each app to see what's on or rummage through a generic tv guide to find the few channels you might get is a pita.

Pretty much everything that Apple announces or releases nowadays has me either shaking my head or leaves me having 0 interest. Granted I'm not a tech company expert so maybe Tim and his team are doing a great job leading the company into the future. But as a rabid tech fan who use to absolutely love almost all Apple products (at least the Steve Jobs 2.0 era products and beyond), I am just losing more and more interest in Apple while the competition seems to introduce more useful and cool technology. This TV app is just another example of how (IMHO) Apple is just not focusing on what people want.

Apple "We are more committed than ever to the Mac".... and we get a TV guide missing the two largest content companies Netflix and Amazon.... WTF?

I am a loyal Apple user but I'm not sure they are as committed as they say.

does anyone actually purchase tv and movies on iTunes? it seems insane to me with netflix and hulu and even less legit sites to be paying a premium for this stuff

Yes. I use discounted iTunes gift cards. Not all shows I watch are available on Hulu. Not is guaranteed to be on Netflix after the season.

Oooh, finally: "other people watched" in an own app. Game-changer!
How about one for music!
Or for books!

Or for "some people liked this rumour about Apple that might not be true at all but could be so great if they'd only focus on things that are more important than the iTunes store which is a bloated, incoherent program that amazon rips apart by search algorithms that actually work and tagged content that actually makes sense as compared to iTunes"

How about adding a dictionary which can deal with typos and misspelled words, how about making bluetooth more stable, how about adding functionality to Siri instead of sassy comments, how about focusing on things that may be more important for the users?

Apple does what is important to Apple these days: generating sales. Forget the users, the users are dumb. Thanks, we've come a long way to realize that.

Oht, and btw, how about "let's streamline Apple's customers into Apple's preferred music, video and tv", oh, I forget, that's what Apple Music is for...

I love Apple. I hate what it has become.

SurfaceRumors is this way.

In what way is this related to the Mac? Also how is it Apple's fault that Netflix and Amazon refuses to leave the comfort of their own apps?

I am not interested in anything other than Amazon and my own movie collection I ripped from my own DVDs.

I bought a lot of albums from iTunes, maybe for $10 to $20 each month for the last 10 years and even more on physicals CD for the last 30 years. But I have never ever bought a movie from iTunes since they are so expensive.

I'm also in that camp give me a grid.

To begin with I watch mostly sports. Then every once in a while a movie.

I found the presentation boring and totally uninteresting, but then , I would never bother somebody to tell them, I watched this movie, listened to this song, read this book etc.

Maybe in conversation, but not via an app.

Plus SIRI is so useless!

Now they give us a SIRI and PING experience. LOL

I feel like Apple is gearing up for an AppleMusic-like service for video.
[doublepost=1478548921][/doublepost]Also I wonder if when iOS 10.2 officially releases if the Videos app will die. It is still on my screen now but with the TV app I feel like Videos will be obsolete.

You're not getting first run movies in Netflix and Hulu. There's a reason the studios hold back their best stuff and only later let some, not all of it by any means, on those sites.

A large percentage of my viewing is on my Mac. Skipping that platform eliminates this as a viable option for me.

What do you mean? For shows you stream illegally? Maybe you can download the channel apps without having to sign up so it will let you see the shows schedule? which is what you want to do no? To let you know when a show you watch airs?

Why do I even read this forum? The comments here are just awful.

Macrumors is the worst for anti Apple crowd . For some reason, most of the detritus ends up here. I stop by periodically, usually when I am waiting in line, to keep the trolls semi-honest and because they are such easy sport. It's a little like fishing in a barrel but it keeps the fly casting sharp.
