Makes you wonder if it is indeed the same build, or did they change something between the GM and today's release. Because looking at my phone, which was running the GM, I'm apparently on iOS 10.0.1, which I never explicitly updated to.
The GM is indeed 10.0.1, same build that people are getting today.

That's why I'm flabbergasted as to how they could foul this up.

My 6S is currently stuck on the connect to iTunes screen and I won't be home to my computer for another 6 hours or so. UGH WHYYYY

I just installed iOS 10 on my iPad. What an ugly update. Apple's UI just keeps getting more atrocious and stale. They didn't even bother to update the Podcast app to the Music app's new design. Unbelievable. As usual, much of the design is off and doesn't match the elements of other Apple apps. I won't even mention Messages. Ugh.

And why is the Music text so huge??? Why???

Just bricked my device, but plugging it into iTunes has now given me an option to "Update" it and it is currently downloading 10.0.1 which I assume was JUST pushed out.

Hmmm I never heard of anyone running the Dev preview having these issues. It's either an iOS 9.x → 10 issue or Apple is sending out corrupt updates because of the excess load on the servers (that should get caught when it verifies the update integrity but who knows).

Additionally, you should be wiping and restoring the device unless you absolutely cannot for some reason. OTA will fail at some point if you keep doing it because system files are bound to corrupt over time. Now is a great time to wipe, because it will give you extra OS stability and even free up space on your phone.

This is the dialog that mentions the 10.0.1 release.

Had the problem with iPhone SE. Updated to the latest iTunes version (Mac 12.5.1.21), and the strange thing is that it's downloading iOS 10.0.1(!) now. I hope that it contains a fix for this problem :)

10.0.1 is actually the first public version of 10.0 (so, same as you already had. Sorry.)

WTF Apple - this really sucks. Also stick it into iTunes and it starts downloading 3 x iOS 10!!!! Come guys, your not doing great work anymore, you just plainly suck!

WTF is going on with Apple's quality control in their software? Ever since iOS 7, it has really gone down the toilet (7.0 was a disaster on iPads). You'd think with the public beta program, things would go more smoothly. But the iOS 9.3 launch was also plagued by bugs. Sad to see things slide so badly in the last few years.

EXACTLY !!!!

All these months of testing and Time Cook bragging on stage, and they still screw it up, my iPhone6S is now broken, cannot restore, screen is black, even iTunes does not recognise it.

AppleInsider has spoken with Apple regarding the matter and was told that support personnel were already looking into the problem. We were told that the problem may be related to a timed-out download as a result of ISP issues in conjunction with Apple software distribution system loads.

there you go... probably not a software issue.

This is a massive fail no matter what the reason is - CDN, editing the GM release etc. there should be procedures and contingencies in place however every year it's getting worse and worse.

Bricked on iPhone 3GS.

Seriously, zero pleasure seeing this. Questions raised, why does this continue to happen with every iOS release?

It's a goddamn miracle you've kept it alive for such a long time

Another one bites the dust!

My 6s update failed miserably too. Using my iTunes on my MacBook to restore the update...here's hoping! 3/4th done...

SUCCESS! The software restore update worked on my MacBook. Hope it does for you guys too!!

how long does the update-after-bricking-and connecting to iTunes take? the initial download took a long, long time. Is this "update" download expected to be just as lengthy? mine's been working 20 minutes or so, maybe premature for me to worry. or not... ?

Okay has anyone seen this one yet?

Update to IOS 10 was successful. However, the "you need to agree to the news terms and conditions" thing in the iTunes store appears to present an infinite loop: I agree to the Ts and Cs, it says it's going to continue the iTunes store app update, but then gives me the "you need to agree to the new terms and conditions" message again. Lather rinse repeat.

How exactly are you updating a 3GS to iOS 10 unless you've jailbroken it? 3GS updates stopped at iOS 6 didn't they?
