Just tried this and can confirm it's just hidden and not deleted. Downloads just fine (and instantly) in airplane mode. Suspect it's the same with other default apps?
They're all listed with no size on the app store so they're just hidden.

I can't remember where I read that they were planning on bringing many of these features to non-3D Touch enabled devices, which once could argue also sucks, a waste of effort working backwards ;)
Yeah true. It would be cool to have the default brightness as a setting though.

Two possibilities:

It simply hides the app icon... but the guts of it are still in the phone

or

The app itself is very tiny. It's basically a viewport to data that comes from the internet anyway... so there's not much of an app to download so it downloads fast.

Third possibility: the function does not work yet. Maybe Apple hasn’t bothered yet to upload the apps to the App Store. Developers don’t really need this function to work yet.

Some default apps are basically front ends for the system frameworks. Maps, for instance, would only need code for the active navigation interface, the rest is part of MapKit already and can be implemented by developers. Apple Music may be no different, as Apple introduced special Apple Music APIs. The rest would be, as you said, loaded on-demand. Ars Technica said that it would save about 150 MB if you delete all apps. That really is not that much, if you compare this to apps like Facebook.

Does anybody know what "found in messages"is? When viewing all photos on a message thread, there should be a way to go to where the photo is in the message thread.

Giving users more of an opportunity to control the look and feel of their personal iOS experience. Nice Apple. Seems like they're going all in on converting Android users to iOS. Deleting stock apps, Memories in the Photos app, individual app upgrades, etc. Pretty soon there's going to be little difference in the way each of the OS function. That's a good thing for people like me.
It's just making me switch to Android. Literally. And being very happy and excited about it.

Being able to delete default/built-in apps is a huge fail--this is a new low in the (brief) post-Jobs era. I've been a huge Apple fan since 1994 but I'm done.
Same here.

Done because you can delete default app? And then switch to Android where you can delete the default OS and replace by mod?
It's okay. People can switch to Android. Nothing bad will happen to them or you.

I'm pretty sure he means overall. Not that the ability to delete stock apps is making him done with Apple.

iOS 10 the emoticon update
If everything else is ignored.

Seems unless I'm missing something, Apple did not include Dark Mode like initially suspected. Furthermore, iMessage is not coming to Android, either. If someone knows more about this, feel free to chime in.
Rumors didn't turn out to be right...that's essentially why they are just rumors.

Fail? How/why?

Too much Hype
Too many Gimmicks
Just by/for some.

Sticking up for your beloved Apple? I've been there.

Apple has some nice ideas but clearly lacks good designers and a vision and can't even properly present the best things they have. Keynote was a mess of various and sometimes questionable features stuffed together. New iOS Control Center and Music app redesign is a mess too. Went from ugly to bad design. Poor Apple.

That's your opinion.

Having some issues/glitches deleting messages on an iPad Mini 3. Anyone else? Was really hoping to try this out on my iPhone this week but I may be better off waiting for beta 2.
