Now that all features are complete, I hope they release a version that says:

Stability and performance fixes.

But this time for real, my iPad Air is barely usable thanks to iOS11 and I refuse to buy a new one just because Apple slowed it down with an iOS update.

Yeah well messages in the cloud isn't fully baked. I wipe my texts weekly and today when I used my Mac, it still had four threads that were deleted last night. But it did have my new ones I started today.

like many, wondering if airport express will be able to get in on the multiroom party??...otherwise these things are paperweights...i read that one beta worked for them..

Nope, it DID NOT work, but the AE showed up in the Home app when manually adding HomeKit devices, so it was believed at that time that the AE will get a last update to bring it up to date and introduce AirPlay 2. But, it was removed in subsequent betas and now, we are all waiting...I dont even know if AE (2012) can support Airplay 2 hardware-wise...

Apple has announced that iOS 11.4 will be publicly released today with long-awaited support for AirPlay 2 and Messages in iCloud.

iPad Air is 4 soc generations behind. In number crunching power, RAM capacity, IO bandwidth, etc. Apple isn't going sit still for you. They are a technology company moving forward. Not always on all facets, but their CPU/software team has been pushes the boundaries.

Be glad you still get software/security/and at least partial feature updates pushed down... it's better than any other technology widget vendor would provide.

I'm hoping that the iCloud web app will include messages as well. Being able to read and send messages from any computer's browser would be a welcome addition. I love the sync idea as well.

So we’re also getting iMessages in iCloud in addition to AirPlay 2. I wonder what features will be announced at WWDC next week that we’ll get in May 2019?

I’m not usually one to say something is pathetic but that’s rather pathetic. Maybe that’s why there are rumors about few new features in iOS 12—Apple just can’t deliver on time any more. If they set expectations properly this time, I’m fine with getting a major new feature with each 12.X update. The problem though, from a marketing perspective, is that packs a lot lesser punch with the trade off of perhaps smaller press coverage more frequently throughout the year.
