I got this in 1978 and it worked perfectly and still works perfectly...

Hell even the c64 calculates better than iOS :p

Wish they'd "fix" more than just calculator, remove all the animation input blocking throughout
I would guess this is whats taking so long... it’s not a calculator bug per se, it’s a bug in the OS code. When they fix the underlying issue, it will solve this type of input blocking issue in a variety of different places, not just calculator.

Fixing this should have been a higher priority

It bothers me that people are making this a "thing".
If you type 1+2+3 it will give you 6. EVERY SINGLE TIME.
If you on the other hand type it faster that the app can recognize the taps, then it produces another result which is understandable. Come on people, hardly a bug, more like a usability flaw, which im sure Apple will fix.

When people complain about such stupid things it takes away from actual worthwhile complaints.

Well - this ain't no iOS 11 specific bug. The same thing happens in iOS 9.3.5! iPhone 6 Plus. I just checked it out. If you go fast enough you'll get 24. If you try again you'll get 6 from then on out. If you quit the app & launch it again and add the numbers fast (again). You'll get 24. Ha!

There is a millennial joke in here some where.. I agree with common core math but the hole iOS 11 seems like it is not ready for release.. i have an iPhone 6s and it seems like i have an original iphone with how long different things take to load..

If you quickly press the clear button repeatedly after the addition you get all the animations on the plus button.

This is intentional, because the [C] (Clear) button simply undoes the previous addition, leaving the calculator in [+] mode and ready for the next number. All calculators behave this way.

Try it...

[1] ... [+] ... [1] ... [C]

Pressing the [C] backs up one step.

I’ll try with the iPhone X, maybe the operator buttons acts and move with my face, like in a recent past the volume button of iTunes was changing while iPhone was moving

Funny - I bought a couple "new old stock" C64's for $100 each 10 years ago, and saved a C64 monitor from the trash and stuffed it in the garage.

I just looked on eBay at C64 computer and monitor prices...

I just brought the monitor into the house and will clean it up this weekend (works great still)....

Umm yeah, it’s a bug. The app not being able to recognize taps fast enough is a bug.

I agree it’s not the biggest of bugs, but there’s no point in trying to minimize it. Big or small, it’s still a bug.

If I type 1+2+3, it does not give me 6. And I don’t type that fast.

Maybe you forgot the /s, or you thought your sarcasm came through on its own?

So it’s a bug that Apple is aware of and is fixing. But let’s make it a front page story because clicks.

Meanwhile the Pixel 2XL has major display issues including burn-in
https://www.theverge.com/2017/10/24/16519530/google-pixel-2xl-screen-issues-deep-and-unfixable

and the Pixel 2 has high pitched whine and clicking noises.
https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/201...sue-a-high-pitched-whine-and-clicking-noises/

Well, if they were aware since beta, I would say that fixing one of the most basic operations (1+2+3) on one of the most used apps is kinda a priority.

I had not seen before that there was a calculator in OS 11. Ok, so I decided to give it a try, and to see if i could reproduce the bug.

Unfortunately, it returns 12, not 24 (yes, I am not kidding, 12, and I tried 5 times with the same result). So disappointed I do not get 24 as everybody else... snif... can we not all have the same bug then ?

A calculator app is supposed to be a high school level project. Yet apple cannot get it right. This is extremely embarrassing.

And absolutely indicative of the current state of Apple and its management. IMO as long as they hit the marketing deadline it does not really matter if anything works correctly, because Apple believes that because it is an Apple product people will buy it anyway.

Don’t worry. Only winners are those who get 42.
