Hmm, I just looked at my CC and see the toggle for wi-fi. What do you mean?

I don't read Reddit, so I don't know anything about the "thousands" of complaints about iOS 11. I installed it on my 7 and my wife's 6. No problems. Or am I missing something?

you dont read macrumors much either :)

It's been reported/discussed many times here, the CC toggles dont actually turn off bluetooth or wifi anymore...:)

Just fill your iDevices up with 1gb files until you have 9.9gb of free space. That stops the automatic download. I use Golden Ears and throw 30 WAV files on my phone via iTunes. Then delete an album when I need more space. Works really well !
I have a 128GB 7. That would be crazy to manage space that way. Guess it works. Insane.

Given that iOS changed to nag you daily to update, and yet fewer and fewer people choose to install updates, that should be a wake up message to Apple.

Instead, expect future versions of iOS to reserve storage space on your device, to be sure the OS update can be downloaded on every device. There's still a few people with so many photos and videos filling up their phones that they don't get to appreciate the nagging update popups.

While it's nice to see such a good adoption rate, it's weird to see all the app updates to add zero new features other than "bug fixes" and "iOS 11 compatibility." Where are the new features, or aren't there any?

Or, Apple could be the user-friendly company they used to be, and now can only claim to be, and allow people to run the software of their choice on the devices they own.

Instead, they use underhanded methods like that deceptive "Later" button and subsequent dialog with the fine print "Remind me later" to fool people into updating. It's just plain atrocious UX and disrespectful no matter who designed it.

Yeah I got two notifications to install iOS 11.0.3. Each time I delete it and it redownloads using up my metered wifi bandwidth.
You can prevent this by installing an Apple TV beta profile on your iPhone/iPad. The phone will look at the TV beta updates available, decide it can't download any of them, and stop. Google it.

Amazing the number of negative comments in this thread from people who have not installed iOS 11. How would you know if it’s good or bad if you haven’t installed it? It’s working great for me. In fact I found that things are a little bit snappier.

I think iOS 11 is the Windows Vista of Apple nobody wants it everybody just wants to downgrade, so those statistics are forced statistics, Apple should still be signing iOS 10 and that percentage should go down in an instant
To be fair, in the early days of iOS 10 some made references to it being the Windows Vista of iOS, and prior to that in the early days of iOS 9 some made those statements, and prior to that some made those statements in the early days of iOS 8, etc.

Better than my Android device that's still on an August security patch and no set target date for the new Oreo OS that's already available from Google.
Should have bought a Pixel or Nexus then. I'm still rocking a Nexus 6P and have the latest OS and updates.

I LOVE the way Apple makes easy to remember and interact with elements much harder to do. I used to swipe up and be able to figure everything out and memorize the locations, now I have to swipe up and figure out what bars do what.

The positive spin ... 55% of iDevices using IOS11
The negative spin ... 45% of IOS users still waiting for serious bug fixe

I remain in the 45% camp o_O
There are many iPhone 5 and 5C users in that group as well. Unlike any previous iPhones where they were gasping on their last supported iOS version, the 5/5C hold their own on iOS 10. So people doesn’t feel they need to upgrade to a newer phone right away.

It would be more interesting to see the breakdown by device.

Maybe someone at app,e should think about this fast os adoption and ensure the releases are more stable with less battery drain. Some of the bugs and design flaws in iOS are nothing short of embarrassing.

I love Apple. But the company is so worrisome nowadays.
You can delay release indefinitely to make sure it’s perfect (and it will never be since to err is human), or you can release a good enough form and then commit in supporting it with bug fixes. We have to accept that most companies opted for the later. Heck, even game consoles where the hardware is fixed still experience bugs.

iOS 11 is not the smoothest release, that I agree with. But it’s not as bad as iOS8 imo. Even OS X experienced growing pains on their .0 releases. At least we can know for sure that we will get patches from Apple, unlike the Android camp.

Still happily one of the 40%
Won’t be for long since Apple patches the critical WiFi WPA vulnerability on iOS 11.1. You will definitely want to update to that on your supported devices.

I will begrudgingly upgrade once they release the KRACK fix update for iOS.
This is why they didn't do an hot-fix just for KRACK and it 's going to be included in a major update like 11.1
They want to have 99% of users on 11 iOS

I keep wondering if the lower adoption rate is due to Apple dropping 32 bit devices.

I believe you, but how old is your device? The problem is that old devices are not well tested on the new IOS, and I don't see reasons for trading stability for a handful of features.

I had to upgrade because I got myself the new Apple Watch. watchOS 4 is not compatible with iOS 10 and now my poor old 6 is dying. It’s completely unresponsive on low battery. On full battery the apps take a 2 seconds to show up. Starts at blank and then shows up. Apps are stuck in auto rotate mode. Battery life is completely gone compared to 10. I charge it twice in a day compared to once. The list goes on and on.

I love the Apple Watch but now my phone is a piece of garbage.

The fact you (think) you “see the toggle for wifi” demonstrates part of the problem.

They used the exact same symbol/button for wifi and bluetooth as always, right? So naturally it turns them on and off as always, right? Nope, wrong.

Now it just disconnects, because that is what they think is a better idea now. But regardless of whether one agrees or not, there is no option to have the buttons behave like before, and to actually turn bluetooth or wifi off you have to go to settings, like before Control Centre existed at all. It’s irritating if, like me, you basically only use wifi at home and like to turn it off when leaving the house. There are others who prefer the new behaviour, which is fine, but there should be an option to revert to then old behaviour IMHO.

When the wifi or bluetooth (or cellular radio for that matter) are now actually off they have a line through the relevant symbol in CC. Pressing the button then will turn them on. If you want to turn them off again (individually; airplane mode will turn them all off at once of course), you have to go to settings.

IOS 11 is a joke. On my iPhone 6 plus, it turned down the volume really bad. So, I could not hear anything out of my phone. Then, the phone was really lazy when I pressed the Home button, and the screen turned on slowly. And then, the applications took a long time to open. They would just pop up a white screen for a few seconds, and then the content would appear on the screen. This was done intentionally by Apple. I do use their product, but I hope they either stop being so rude and incompetent, or better yet, they disappear as a company all together.

It’s going okay now on my iPad mini 4 and IPhone 7 Plus. The battery seems back to normal, at least.
