You can customise the order of the icons by changing the order in the settings app, I don't know why that wasn't mentioned in the article...

yes and no... You can only custom the bottom rows. I only use one row, but there are currently toggles that would create 4.5 rows total

Same question regarding WiFi. I've seen this complaint more than any other WRT control center. There are even a few jailbreak tweaks that do this. If they haven't done this it's a clear indication that they intentionally didn't and I'd really like them to explain why not. Is it a considered a security issue? Do they not have the ability to deal with credential entry in the notification center context?
Because iOS 12 needs new features.

You know what I want? I want an AirPods button. I don't want to open the music control, and then tap the little icon, and then find my AirPod among the list of accessories. I just want to click a button, it finds my AirPods, disconnects them from whatever they're connected to, and connects. No fuss.

I also want this button on my Mac. Even better would be if I could set my AirPod to auto connect to my iPhone when I'm out of range of my Mac. I leave my desk during lunch to go for a 20-30 minute walk/run, and twice to get up and walk around the building to get some movement in, and it would be nice if it just paired to my iPhone when out of BT range and continued what I was listening to on my iPhone, or learned that I always open Overcast after connecting and pick up my podcast where I left off. I'm always having to fiddle with connecting my AirPods several times per day.

Didn't Apple buy this popular app that was about automated tasks? I bet in the future you'll get to put your own task automatization shortcuts in the control center!

Unlike some I'm quite happy with it. It could look nicer, but then I feel that way about iOS in general. I think the separation of the different pieces does look a bit cluttered, but it's also functionally probably a bit better.

A step in the right direction, now just make more attractive shoes!

I agree. Complaints of function over form are weak. If the thing doesn't work, its game over. If you want pretty but doesn't do much, turn off most of the toggles.

I wonder if that's a security thing? Since you can use CC while the phone is locked, perhaps Apple doesn't want to add that feature because then anyone could easily switch you to a nefarious network while you aren't looking.

Then they can do it like Android...you want to change the network via toggle, then the phone needs to be unlocked first. Problem solved.

Unless there's some shortcut already that I don't know about, I would LOVE it if they made it possible to add iTunes EQ settings to the Control Panel. Hate digging for that under Settings/Music.

They better not force this update on us. If it prompts me every day to install this crap then I'm out.

The prompts are super annoying. I refuse to update some of my devices for fear of them slowing down with updates. Wish the prompts could be turned off!

This! I use AirPods between multiple devices and this feels like it's adding more steps.

Not to mention, unless something was recently playing, or already playing, the AirPlay icon isn't even visible to choose the AirPlay destination / AirPods. I don't want to have to start the audio and then choose the destination.

Instead of complaining here at macrumors, why don't you send the feedback tfrom Apple directly?
Surely being vocal enough will get them to change.
You mean like they added upgrade pricing to the App Store? I'm all fine with people reporting bugs or feature requests to Apple but not filing radars or feedback to complain about aesthetics.

What, you don't think Steve would approve? /s
Amazing how for so long people complained about the lack of customization now they start adding it and you get another set of people complaining about that.

You know what, Apple will never perfect this control center design (on the iPhone at least) without fixing one glaring long time annoyance - activating it when the onscreen keyboard is visible. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't as the swipe up gesture is mistaken for various key taps (which then don't actually register!). Terrible UX feedback.

Try it in the Notes App. Of course, if you attentively practice it long enough, you can succeed every time. The real test is when you're not practicing (like on Spring Board where the response is 100% accurate).

It must have something to do with the introduction of the control center long after the keyboard control's existence (always anchored at the bottom) since day one.

There's a difference between "customize" and clusterf--k. It looks exactly like something an intern would crap out in a day, not a polished UI from Apple.

Why would you not upgrade? Seems madness not to. It's hardly a major change.

Better to have it on one page than on separate pages.

Customization or no, could you see Jobs excited by such clutter? Well, excited in a good way? (not that it's Jobs' company any more, being dead and all, but it just struck me as the antithesis of everything he aimed for)

If someone had showed him this before his death, that exchange would probably have made it into one of the Jobs movies.

Are you serious? This update is madness... Not to mention the loads of people who hate the prompts already

Then it could keep scrolling up in a coherent way or something else. I like the separate pages, but I'm not stuck on that idea. This idea is terrible.

Each to their own. Update is fine to me and nothing groundbreaking of the iPhone at least. Much rather have the ability to add toggles in control center than what we have in IOS 10

You really toggle things that much? Mostly I use CC for the Music widget, followed by Airplay and the Calculator. This music widget is a huge step backwards if it's just that little square. You know how few song titles are 8 characters or less? lol Plus currently there is a nice long bar for position in the track and at the bottom an additional way to access airplay from that page, so I rarely see the other 1st page of the current CC.
