I believe you need Bluetooth 5.0 like the S8, but I might be wrong.
I believe that you might need additional hardware for connecting multiple Bluetooth speakers, not necessarily Bluetooth 5.0. But airplay uses Wi-Fi to play, and its being done in iTunes.

I want iMessages to be unbundled from the iCloud "backup" section and be allowed to sync separately. This way, when purchasing a new product or restoring a device and setting it up as new, you don't have to lose your iMessages. Along with this, adding an iMessage app to iCloud.com makes sense as well.

I want control over my status bar at the top. Why does it have to say "T-Mobile Wi-Fi"? That takes up so much space with my other icons. I also don't need the alarm icon. I have an alarm set every single day. It's pointless. I also never turn off Bluetooth because I have an Apple Watch and use AirPods all day at work. The only thing I can really control is the battery percentage, which I actually like having. The icons get so cramped that the internet spinner has to relocate, lol. I'd like to remove some of those and have a complication there, such as a weather icon, or unread text or email count.

I'd also like the default video player in iOS to have tap or gesture controls like YouTube, where you can double tap on either side of the video to skip forward and back 10 seconds. I accidentally try to do this all the time. It's so natural and convenient. They also don't cover up the volume on the screen, which is nice.

I agree with a lot of this article and it was a really good roundup. But I feel like Apple is becoming a company that does this just because they've always done them that way and not because they're a better design solution. And that is very dangerous. For instance, Google's volume adjustment gets out of the way in YouTube. But Apple is stuck using something that made sense on the Mac from ages ago because they're more concerned about unified design than what's good for the user. I've had to rewind more times than I can count from the volume covering up something important on the display. I know this isn't everything but I think this one thing embodies where Apple has generally gone off course and is an easy to understand problem.

Default app choice, icon animations, and widgets. Apple might get some more of my money.

edit: multi-user choice on tablets. even though I don't see me buying another tablet, multi-user is something that should be a no brainer. consumer perspective not business perspective.

Multi user is interesting, it might cost Apple money because a family might buy only one iPad to share with everyone. But then the family might decide they don't like sharing, then buy more. Or might only buy just one. I'm sure Apple has done user testing or some kind analysis, and already made a decision based on what they think will make the most money.

Everything mentioned here is pretty basic. And we still don't have it on iOS.
I would just add one pretty small and pretty basic thing also: SPEED DIAL

Dumb phones from late 90's had this option. Every other phone except iPhone has this. Well, only reason I still use iPhone is because of mac integration. But every day I find it hard to justify purchasing an iPhone just for that reason alone.

iOS is pretty lacking behind Android in options, so much so that it isn't even funny anymore.

They have speed dial, just 3d touch the phone app. Way faster than opening the app, going to the key pad and holding a number. Even opening the app and going to favorites is faster than "speed dial"

Yeah, that's why I went back to add the bit about consumer perspective. I'm sure Apple wants everyone to buy their own iPad. Since this was about our wishlist, I figured that would be the perspective I would talk about. From a business perspective, it seems like the iPad is losing it's appeal based on the declining sales numbers. I would think anything to make iPad more attractive is a win at this point.

I know they're referring to a File Manager. I mean, nobody has explained why we need a traditional File Manager on our phones, but I do know what they mean.

I could easily come up with a solution where we get all of the benefits of the File Manager without the downsides.
Because ios covers ipads, too. I wish Apple or Readdle would buy the FileBrowser app. It works but isn't easy to move files around or make files openable in multiple apps - ie pdf on my pc made available to pdf expert.

On my iphone, for the life of me I can't get a true whitelist for my contacts. I want only those on my contacts to ring. Doesn't work for anyone as non contact numbers still ring thru. At least let me have a silent ring that I don't have to create myself so only certain numbers ring and everyone else silently rings.

How's about Apple gives up on making a Messages app, and allows 3rd party messaging apps in the App Store so someone can bring back biteSMS and we can have a proper messaging app.

The same solution that could work for the iPhone would work for the iPad.

I want to see "baby mode" where if you start a kids' app it takes touch-Id press to exit, otherwise the app keeps running. It would keep apps from being shut down by little kids when you give them your iPhone to use a specific app.

What comes immediately to my mind is the Tags system currently in MacOS. With an API that allows developers to view/access OS level tags. That way all the files could stay in their respective App Document folders, but still be viewable/workable in a more organized context.

Allowing users to self-organize "project" folders to collected related items scattered across several apps.

Yep I used to use Guided Access while working with elementary age kids (5-10 years, not just babies). It's still part of my Triple Tap home button shortcut. You can even use Guided Access to add touch blockers on select parts of the screen.

Not joking and I don't have this bug.

I have replicated this behaviour on numerous iOS devices. Just now has tried iPhone 6s, iPhone 7 Plus and iPad Pro 9,7. Same thing everywhere. All are on iOS 10.3.2.

Please forward a screenshot where it is visible that iPhone language is set to English, but in the preferred language list on top is any language other then English.

I have replicated this issue on all the iOS devices I have tried with AppleID registered in Germany and Russia (multiple devices from several friends).

This isn’t a bug, it is intended behaviour and well-documented. The list indicates which languages you accept in apps and on websites in case your first choice is not available. What you want is proper multilingual support in iOS.

- So you go to Language & Setting -> iPhone Language and set it to English (the way I prefer to run whatever OS I am using; many multilingual users I know have exactly the same preference).
- Below you have "Preferred Language Order" list, with the following description: "Apps and websites will use the first language in this list that they support". Clear and precise description. And thats exactly the behaviour I want: to have the phone language in English, but to have all the apps that support the local language of the country I visit to be in that language.

Right now - if I move Russian or German to the top of the list and press done there is a message "Russian/German will be used as the iPhone language". It does not say that "from now on, apps and websites that support Russian/German will use this language"... Not at all.

I have not seen a Russian or German app that would not support English. That means - all of them default to English or you need to change iPhone/iPad language. Thats it. The feature is fundamentally broken and I do not see how it is not.

Moreover, I believe iOS already has proper multilingual support (let me know what would you like to see added to the list):

1) you can choose interface language to pretty much whatever one you want
2) you can type in whatever language you want (which can be different of course from the interface language selected)
3) (bingo) you can even have one interface language set, but an app be fully in other language. This however is only true if app developers add an option in app setting that allow the user to select the language the app is using. Most apps however don't have such setting.

You come to Russia and Yandex would probably be on the top of your list all things navigation, taxi service etc., however - all of its apps default to interface language (if it is English all of them are in English, if it is Russian - all of them are in Russian). If only "Preffered Language Order" would really work as it says in description, I could have iPhone language set to English, but many of the localised apps be in Russian, without weird use of two languages in them, crazy pronunciation of local names etc. etc.

You are welcome to point me to a well-documented description of this feature. So far the only one I found is located below the preferred language list ("Apps and websites will use the first language in this list that they support").

You should try "Hey Siri! Call ___". I think it's speedy enough.

I know this is probably the least of everyone's wants, but I would really like to see more backgrounds the old iOS had really nice ones and this one I feel like it's been forgotten. I'd really like to see new sounds too oh! And maybe change the text bubble color like in iMessages. It's small but it would be a fun change
