Where to start?! Easy ones would be:

Most of these were what I thought you would say. I remember when I had Android people made a big deal about the widgets, you can have 5 screens with all of these widgets. I don't think I ever used one of them in the 5 years I had those phones. To each his own. Enjoy.

my phone never told me there was an update. so maybe that's why!
My iPad tells me there is no update and that "Your software is up to date" (iOS 11.4.1).

I understand why they are scattering the notifications, but going to Settings > General > Software Update is supposed to show you the update.

So far on the IphoneX it is brilliant, my geekbench4 score is faster, my phone feels snappier. I love being able to swipe close apps instead of hold for the stupid X, that was a real boneheaded move. This is more the IOS that should have shipped with the X.

Apple's newest operating system, iOS 12, is installed on just over 10 percent of devices 48 hours after it launched according to data collected by analytics company Mixpanel. The data suggests customers are adopting iOS 12 at a slower rate than iOS 11 and iOS 10.

Last year, iOS 11 was installed on 10 percent of devices just 24 hours after launching, and in 2016, iOS 10 was installed on 14.45 percent of devices within 24 hours.

Customers may be reluctant to adopt a new operating system after all of the bugs and issues that were seen with iOS 11 software updates, but Apple made an effort to focus on the underlying code of iOS 12 and thus far, the update has been stable.

iOS 12 is an update that brings significant speed and performance improvements to older devices, so most customers installing the software should see notable speed improvements over iOS 11 after updating.

On the iPhone 6 Plus, for example, apps launch up to 40 percent faster, while the keyboard can appear up to 50 percent faster. Opening the camera on the Lock screen to take a photo can be done 70 percent faster.

Apple has made animations smoother and more responsive across the operating system, so accessing Control Center, scrolling in apps, or swiping up when multitasking feels more fluid.

iOS 12 also includes optimizations for when the operating system is under load. Apps launch up to twice as fast under a heavy load, as does the Share Sheet.

With iOS 12 installed on 10 percent of devices, iOS 11 adoption has dipped to 82 percent and will continue to fall as more people adopt iOS 12. Installation could jump this weekend as some people wait until they have a free block of time to complete a major software update.

iOS 12 is a free download that's available for the iPhone 5s and later, iPad mini 2 and later, and the 6th-generation iPod touch. In addition to noticeable and useful speed and performance improvements, the update introduces Screen Time for monitoring device usage, Memoji and new Animoji, ARKit 2.0, and a new Shortcuts app for creating customized automations. I’ve been trying to update my iPad Pro for the past 48 hours, but to no avail. The update notice will not populate no matter what I do - reset network settings, restarting device, soft reset...

That's because Android updates aren't directly pushed out by Google to handsets like iOS updates are by Apple, but rather by handset manufacturers and carriers who are slow to roll them out due to different hardware configurations.

But you already knew that so your post is at best trolling.

Oh did we hurt your android feelings with facts?

People remember what happened last time they updated to a new OS, which was the initially very buggy and slow iOS 11. The fact that iOS 12 is so much better is more likely to improve update speeds once (if) word of mouth starts spreading.

I'm waiting to hear from someone who installed this on an iPhone 5s as IOS 11 was a complete disaster for mine that I'm still aggravated and wish I could go back to IOS 10. :(

Using my spare 5S with iOS 12 to reply .. As I said in other topic, native apps performance is above the expectations for a device this old. Damn, this thing was released with iOS 7!

After 2 days of testing, the only thing I noticed is stuttering when scrolling through my notes in the Notes app and in the settings app.

The rest is going fine.. Safari performance is really good, and invoking 1Password to enter credentials is considerably fast.

IMHO, you should try it, specially because Apple is still signing 11.4.1 in case you decide to roll back.

To note 10% is based on Mixpanel analaytics not based on the actual total number of iPhone users since only Apple knows that. But in regards to why it's less this year by one day, I imagine because last year it was on all the news networks, where is this year the new networks have focused on the major hurricane and the supreme court nomination so I imagine a lot of people are not even aware of the new iOS. None of my non technical friends new. But iOS will be prompting users after to upgrade and then expect to roll out quickly.

All my devices earlier devices are much quicker especially my iPad Mini 2 and iPhone 7.

I use only 3 widgets, but most are kind of gimmicky. Glad we like our devices. That's what counts in the end!

Also glad there's solid competition now.

Android installs can barely hit 10% a year after launch.
on the other side many people are literally forced to install. I disabled upgrade notification on 11.4. and that pos still tried couple of times some nasty tricks - downloaded update without consent and just informed me that update will be installed next day / evening / whatever displaying just a super tiny text where u could postpone (basically refuse) installation. I can imagine that many “regular” people even didn’t notice that they don’t need to upgrade. I hate these dirty tricks - there should be a clear option to refuse without ANY subsequent attempts. This is the way how apple get these “great” numbers

Idk about that because Apple got caught with its pants down just last year. Gotta engineer new subtler ways for planned obsolescence. Would be naive to consider if Apple gave that up. Same for any company. Apple isn't the only company to do that. Samsung withheld software updates until their newer Galaxies released in the past.

But to be fair, iOS 12 is a huge step up in terms of reliability. Problem is that we paid with progress that could've happened with iOS 12 that will be pushed back to iOS 13 or later.
A leopard doesn’t change its spots. I’ll bet they put a slow down time bomb into the silicon.

That must be what happened. The dirty tricks Apple played on unsuspecting folks.

So Tim Cook is "trolling" every time he compares iOS and Android update adoption rates?

What iPad Pro? My 10.5 had no issues at all

Updated right at release date a few minutes after it officially went live. Decent update, although I'm bummed they didn't do any more noticeable changes in terms of customization. Heck I would have been happy if I was able to just put more than 4 icons in the dock!
