Since this started happening, it's been an ongoing joke with my girlfriend and I:

*14 seconds have passed since the message last appeared*
"Hey, OMG, take a look at this. Did you know there's a new iOS update available!?"

Hopefully everyone is using Feedback Assistant to report it.
Feedback Assistant doesn’t do anything for those of you using the beta version via the developer program. It’s only for public beta testers. Developers are instructed to use the bug report tool they have access to for this purpose, if attempting to sign into the Feedback app.

iPhone and iPad users who have installed the current iOS 12 beta are being plagued with a continual popup that suggests a new iOS update is available when it's not.

Affected users are seeing the following message: "A new iOS update is now available. Please update from the iOS 12 beta." The problem is users receiving this message are running the most recent version of iOS and there is no additional software to update to.

Beta testers have been seeing this popup since the latest beta was released on August 27, but over the course of the last day, the popups have become much more frequent.

Many users are now seeing the popup every time an iPhone or iPad running the beta is unlocked or Notification Center is dismissed, and it is a popup that must be manually dismissed each and every time before an iOS device can be accessed.

Developer Guilherme Rambo has suggested that an error in the latest update causes the iOS beta to think that its expiration date is imminent, leading to the popup problem.

Complaints on Twitter and the MacRumors forums are picking up from users who are frustrated with having to continually dismiss the popup, and it's not clear when a fix will be available.

... This is a beta. If you play, you take your chances. This is the least significant side effect I can imagine.
This is the ”least” side effect you could imagine?

Are you kidding?

I’ve been around beta testing software for more than 25 years and I have never ever experienced any beta software that expired 24 hours after being released to testers.

Also, any serious developer informs their testers in advance of when the software expires so they can take proper actions or reconsider installing.

Count me in as a beta user seeing this message every time I unlock the phone. I did of course uploaded info to the Feedback app. But what gets me, does apple use different phones than the public - why wouldn't they have noticed this issue before sending out an update?

I think this may be one of the funniest threads I’ve ever read on MR. :D

I’m sure it will be fixed. Maybe even before iOS is out of beta, you never know.

It's been happening with the last 2 public beta builds for me, at least it's not as bad as the black screen glitches were.

I deleted the beta profile, restarted my phone, installed the beta profile, restarted my phone and I have a new download available.

There's a very large difference between finding a bug annoying and "omg apple sux wtf is wrongg with their quality?!!!?"

If this is a very noticeable bug the interferes with all of their beta testers, there's nothing wrong with pointing it out.

Also, I've been beta testing stuff for nearly 20 years.
