Funny how many ideas are from Android, you know the OS everyone thinks is horrible.

Actually most of the things in the article are strait from Android.
When Android P was presented a few weeks ago by Google a lot of users(including many users on this forum) only concentrated on the idea that it's a copy of iOS, Google doesn't have ideas any more and so on.
Now we see a big wish list for iOS 12 that is full of features that already exist on Android. Yeah it's quite a funny situation.

Fun to see so many feature requests for things I have absolutely no use for. I do have some of my own of course. Interesting to see how so many people use their smartphones in so many different ways. Very hard to design for, which makes this an interesting comparison between the mess that is the Android UI/UX and the iPhone's.

Ummm wondering how the state of ios notifications hasn't warranted a mention here? Not like everything's hunky-dory in that part of the world? It is 2018 and we still can't group notifications ?

Exactly!!!
I prefer the Android notification approach.
And I would like to see this implementation in IOS 12

My personal wish list every year includes multiple users support on the iPad, but I'm not holding my breath to it.
I think it is time to improve notification, at least give the ability to group them by app.
Dark mode would be ok, but I'm afraid we'll have to wait until the majority of devices will have OLED (including iPads) so I guess we'll have it in 2019.

As for minor changes I'd say battery percentage on the status bar for iPhone X, a new volume indicator, maybe similar to the one you can find in control center. Speaking of CC I'd like it to be more customisable, maybe like the spring board where you can place app icons freely on the screen.

nice wishlist, I only want to comment on "Camera controls in the Camera app".
I truly don't think this will ever happen. I feel it's against apple main focus. they are simple wants you to take "better pictures", on AUTO setting. I feel they are fully support this vision. just like all the options that they hide and take away from the user. they believe they will make a better call.

What I want doesn't feel like it'd be much work or difficult to implement but sure it won't happen.
If it just had these three then I'd be happy.
• Dark mode
• Long press for Wi-Fi Off in Control Center
• More customisable buttons, so you can assign things like the long volume presses for next/prev track like you could do with the Activator jailbreak mod

How they haven't added a dark mode when it's so clear so many people would like it is beyond belief.

please for the love of god, get rid of this atrocious volume HUD... Please

I still can’t believe they haven’t fixed this already:eek:

I just want the best performance and battery life. I am okay with zero features and design changes.

How about forcing the camera into landscape before it can take a photo or video so we can finally rid the internet of those horrible bars on either side of the shot? People are clearly never going to grow intelligent enough to figure that out on their own, so I think it's time we force it upon them for the good of the world.

XMPP (Jabber) support in the Messages app, like it is on macOS. While at it, add support for "Message Archive Management" to both platforms too.

My main concern with the current OS is the photos iCloud storage system. I wish I could manage that manually, deciding myself how much space on my device should be dedicated to locally stored photos without the system storing in the cloud every last photo I take/save, needing to re-download just to review them.
On my iPad Pro, with smaller storage, I need to keep the icloud library enabled and it’s quite annoying, while on my iPhone with 128 GB of storage I can still manage to keep all my library stored locally, even though the system keeps notifying for “not enough storage for the whole library” while I still have over 40 GB free..

I am hoping iOS 11 was a stop gap measure in design, given how iPhone X was suppose to be released this year and they push this forward.

The iOS 11 design, from inconsistent spacing, colouring, placement and fonts are even worst then iOS 7. In terms of design as a whole it is possibly the worst OS design released by Apple. I hope iOS 12 to rectify that.

If not, I could wait another year, please take one year off to fix bugs and performance.

Just un-ruin my iPhone 6 please. The best performance for this hardware was on iOS 10, the worst on iOS 11.

Apple in the last several years has been like a sieve. Things get released weeks or months ahead. This WWDC I have not heard anything. So, either a) Apple have stopped the leaks, or b) there is nothing of note being announced. My money is on the later, sadly.

Agree. There are plenty of camera apps to chose from if you want to have access to advanced settings. Whatever can be achieved by installing a third party app shouldn't be the main focus of iOS.

So MR readers put dark mode on most desired features but they are totally OK of the notification chaos iOS has since forever ? That alone explains a lot.

Windows phones have had Continuim for a few years. Fairly productive in a pinch

Just reading through the wishes of the users. It does blow me away iPhones are so severely lacking such features.

Ios definitely needs extra steps Android users don't have to take to do the same thing. Lol how people explain on this thread with Bluetooth. I just pull down action center, toggle on or off or long press to go to bt.
How do you send high quality videos to people with iPhones (aka a lot of people)? Email them?

Bringing up your bookmarks on Android’s Chrome requires multiple presses compared to one tap on Safari.

Airplay works awesome. Miracast or any other Android streamer I’ve tried is dog poo.

Each OS has its design flaws. Additionally, Android has endless amounts of phones running different variants software. You can’t just claim “Android works great and has everything!”, the reality is each Android phone is unique. Speed and ease of use vary from phone to phone.

The same way an iphone user would do it if he wanted to send high quality videos to people with Android phones: using 3rd party apps like Dropbox, Google Drive, Photos, Files GO, Wetransfer and so on.
It's not brain science.

LoL
You only need to tap on the 3 dots in the top right corner and select Bookmarks. It's very simple.

Really? My experience is the opposite. Android, especially youtube streaming works great with any SmartTV I've tried. Not to mention Chrome Cast which also works great.

Endless amounts of phones with different software variants? It's obvious you are trying to exaggerate but that's stretching it to far. Also the features presented in the article are available on the vast majority of Android phones anyway.

LoL you are obviously ignoring the fact that the guy was talking about the features presented in the article. Yeah they generally work great on Android and have been working like thta for years.

I’m able to use iMessage in most scenarios. Sending a video to my gf’s mom using Google Drive? Get out of here. Speaking of being late to the party....https://m.androidcentral.com/android-messages-googles-best-chance-compete-imessage

Tap the three dots and then tap bookmarks. More touches!

I’m not talking about YouTube streaming. Miracast is a mirror of your phone. Meant to use the word mirroring, not streaming. Streaming works fine from my Android. Mirroring is the problem.

Chromecast? Another pile of poo. Returned 15 minutes after plugging it in. Worst product I’ve used in a while. I’ve owned every major streaming platform.

I’m not ignoring anything. He said Android has “speed and ease of use” implying the iPhone isn’t easy to use, nor fast. Not going to waste my time with “Android warriors”. I have owned two Android phones, one was purchased this year and still own it. Don’t need to continue spouting opposing opinions about the platform. Moving along....

HomeKit improvements, Siri improvements, grouped notifications, dark mode, and an always on display with complications like the Apple Watch. This is all I need from iOS.

Along with the Music app upgrades, I'd love for them to do what another music service did (I think Dash Radio) where you can easily switch between the explicit and clean versions of a song or playlist while it's playing. Right now the entire entire Apple Music ecosystem is a mess in regards to this. Even if I specifically go and find a clean version on Apple Music and add it to a playlist I get the explicit version in my playlist. If I then go into settings and restrictions and turn off explicit, instead of replacing the songs, they disappear or grey out. I love listening to the original (explicit) versions of songs when it's just me in the car, but the clean versions when the kids are with me. To have a toggle would be a game changer.
