Well. I admit, that the current volume indicator is bad. But if we are so far that updating a volume indicator is one of the biggest expectations/features of a major iOS Update, this is very sad.

White text on a dark background is more difficult to read and more strain on the eyes. It’s a fact. Any optometrist can tell you that.
Dark mode is nothing but a “thing” some people think is “cool”.
Want dark mode? Use inverse in settings.

Well then you don’t have to use it. Some people want it. The inverse setting looks pretty terrible.

Well if rumors are correct and the 2019 iPhones come with OLED display panels then EVERYONE is going to want Dark Mode. Considering that OLED provides true black then Dark Mode is going to look fantastic. The contrast between the colored icons/text against the blackness .... well colours will TRULY pop.
Besides, blackened pixels on OLED panels use no power, therefore iPhone battery life will be much much better.
I mean why light up areas of the display that no one really needs to look at only to have it drain power.

Dark Mode coupled with OLED is just the smartest thing!!

Because dark mode looks like garbage.

I'll gladly give up a bit of battery life to not have to look at dark mode.

Why are they adding dark mode? No one wants it And no one will use it if it comes out.. what a waste of billions of dollars to develop it
What an ignorant way of thinking. You realize thats your OPINION right? And that everyone has a different one, right?

Ok, and how about a native white point slider?

If you suggest Color Filters as an appropriate substitute, I will cut you.

Time for me to speculate a bit,. Could this be a sign of oled screens on all models as oled uses no power on black pixels this could be the drop tha made apple decide to go for dark mode so the tagline could be look at ouer new oled screens and combined with ower new dar mode your batery will last longer!

My optometrist wanted to sell me yellow lenses because my white screen was ruining my eyes, and suggested using apps with dark colors and dimming the screen... I'm getting some mixed messages here.

To be fair though, the smart invert colors thing is pretty dope. I honestly haven't been missing an OS level dark mode thanks to that thing.

I love dark mode, but I don't like dark modes that are just white text on a pure black background. Hoping it's more along the lines of a Twitter dark mode, but that doesn't bring the power savings that everyone so desperately craves...

Can't wait for the new volume indicator. Boy that's the most important update in the last 5 versions. Can't say enough about it. Well, okay, I guess that's enough. Too much really....

I wonder if we'll see mouse support for iPad.
Never going to happen for the simple reason you wouldn't have to be forced to purchase a Macbook as well for the tasks that required a mouse. Same reason they wont put MacOS on a touch screen tablet because they arent willing to give up the people who would not buy an iPad as a companion to the MacBook.

An option to turn off this nagging "You are not connected to the internet" (Can't recall the exact wording) notification would be my pick.

Why oh why do I need that notification when I can see the Wifi/cellular Icons showing just that.

If only everyone was as smart

We won’t

There are a lot of things that a lot of people said would never happen that ended up happening.

Mouse support won't come to the iPad unless Apple needs to do something to boost sales in the face of strong competition. Apple was "never" going to come out with a 7" iPad, but strong competition from 7" Android tablets forced Apple to respond. Apple was "never" going to produce a phablet, but strong competition from Android phablets forced Apple to respond.

Android tablets are all but dead. Chrome OS tablets are not quite out to the general public, and are potentially the next serious threat to the iPad. Should Chrome OS tablets take off, expect Apple to add support for mice to iOS.

All sounds great. I’m also hoping that they stop making incoming calls and Siri take up the entire screen...it’s annoying on iPhone but it’s INSANE on iPad.

But is the spilt screen for ipads and not iPhones?

You're joking right?

Everybody wants it!!

A useless feature that sucks up battery with a risk of burn-in? Sign me up!
Seeing your notifications is useless? And it uses 2% of your battery per day.. And burn in never happens with always on display

Maybe do some research

You might be right but it's really sad it has to come to that for Apple to give such an abvious quality of life feature.

What happened to the redesigned home screen that was supposed to land in iOS 12 but was pushed back to iOS 13?

One thing I'd love in iOS 13 is for incoming phone calls to go to a drop-down notification if you're using the device. There's absolutely no reason for it to completely take over your screen anymore.
This would be great. There's absolutely no reason for most people to make phone calls either, and yet I still get them. *anger intensifies*

Its a nice feature that just allows you to glance over at your phone and see any info you want without having to pick it up or without needing to activate the screen. Android phones have had it for years, Is actually a useful feature IMO (When I had a Note 7 for the few weeks before the recall, I really grew to love it)

I think this is why most people have smart watches. I think it's more convenient to just check my wrist than to dig my phone out of my pocket. Might also be why you don't see the enthusiasts pleading for it anymore—most of them on the Apple side have Apple Watch.

Am I the only one in here so far that’s commenting hoping to see more Siri improvements? Siri has to be one of my favorite features to use on the iPhone, even though it’s not perfect, this is one area that hopefully Apple addresses since they recruited John Giannandrea over a year ago from Google.

TBH I think it's because most of us have given up on Siri, lol.

Sorry but I don't get it. LCD displays use less power with a static screen but with LEDs you're always powering the display. AOD would be more practical with an LCD, where you could dim the backlight to save power. Not the same with LED. And moving the display around a few pixels won't prevent areas of burn-in.

You're have it flipped. LCDs have an always on backlight across the entire display, while OLED/mLED only powers individual pixels.

All welcome changes, but the one I'd be really happy with would be Multiple Users Support on the iPad...
Sharing my iPad with a 9 and 5 year-old, I'll be forced to buy a separate one for the adults, which I suspect is why they've never added the feature...

I doubt this will ever happen. Maybe as a profile configuration for K-12, which actually might already exist in some form now that I think about it. I used to want this too, but it was for sharing with my wife. Now that I actually have kids, there's no way it would work because there would be too many people using iPads in the evening. Also there's no way I would let my kids handle my nice iPad. My daughter has an old iPad Mini 2 that we let her use for a little bit each evening after she does chores and it's in a very thick foam case with a handle.

So this is kinda awkward but the iPhone has had OLED since the iPhone X in 2017.

Sounds like an opinion you're trying to force on other people. Personally I prefer dark mode and use mostly apps that support dark mode, such as Overcast, Calcbot, Lightroom, Weather Underground, Apollo, YouTube, Things, Coda, Tweetbot, etc. I also use it on my Mac. Why? Because the bright white light gives me headaches when I'm using devices and I have to be on my devices all day for work. Dark mode is great for me and I haven't noticed any changes to my vision prescription. For me it helps me get more work done. For you it strains your eyes. Everyone is different. The sooner you learn this, the easier your life will be.

Not only is the volume HUD in the way but they actually managed to break it in 12.2!
I have to press the volume up/down on my headphones 3 times before the line suddenly jumps to the correct place.

Full usage of the USB C port and file system is a must at this point.
