Is apple telling us to remove facebook?

I noticed that Apple has Facebook's WhatApp is integrated with Apple's Contacts app but Telegram is not.
ie I have WhatsApp installed (unfortunately) and the WhatsApp icon shows up in the contact info for that person, but Telegram doesn't show up, even for those people that have accounts. I have Contact access 'off' for both Telegram and WhatsApp.
Strange that WhatsApp is getting thru to the Contacts app but Telegram is not.
Facebook, it seems, is forcing their way into the Contacts even though you have Contacts access turned off.

On the offchance you’re being serious ... iOS 13 is in beta after WWDC and won’t be released until September.

I actually was serious. Thank you for this clarification. It wasn’t immediately obvious from the article (unless I didn’t read it carefully enough) and I didn’t watch that WWDC presentation.

Thanks, pal.

delete facebook? apple must be making their own social network! and you pay for it with your apple credit card, it's perfect!

A much-needed feature for me. It's not the first time I've wanted to just delete some app that was updated since I realized I've never used it.

Moving the updates to the profile is a horrible move. Arcade should either be under the games tab, or in a separate app.

Even though it doesn't bother me all that much, I do agree that it's not the best idea and that merging the "Games" and "Arcade" tabs into one (with a little bit of a focus with the Apple Arcade games) would be better.

I knew iOS 13 was going to be huge. And for the first time Apple has delivered.

Killer feature! How could we live without it, I can’t get my head ad around it :(

That's what we call a QOL (quality of life) update. For sure some devs are going to complain, but at this stage, are their apps really used?

Now one feature that has been requested for a long time is the "delete cache" of specific apps. Some of them already allow to do it, as far as I know, but it should be a system-wide, mandatory feature for all apps approved by the AppStore.
Because you know, apps like Facebook or Messenger take a lot of space after a while. At the moment you can delete the app while keeping your cached info, so when you download it again it's working as usual. Why can't the opposite be true? Sometimes I want to keep using the app, but not its 500 MB use. Let's start fresh again.

Wait, how do you keep the data when you remove the app?

That's why you should always use a VPN of some sort. I have NordVPN proxy in my web-browser, and have always-on VPN on my Mac, iPhone and iPad. The VPN helps you being protected from man-in-the-middle attacks as well.
But instead, the VPN provider got all your activities.

In iOS 13 and iPadOS, Apple has added a new way to delete apps from your device right from the App Store.

When you're updating apps on your phone, or viewing apps that were recently updated, you can swipe left on any app in the list to bring up a "Delete" option.

Tapping on delete brings up the standard app deletion interface, where you can confirm the app's deletion or select the cancel option.

The option to delete apps right from the App Store is a convenient way to get rid of unwanted apps as soon as you see them, without the need to leave the App Store, hunt down the app's icon, and remove it that way as was necessary in prior versions of iOS.

Apple has moved the app update interface in iOS 12 to make room for Apple Arcade. The new Apple Arcade tab replaces the prior Update tab to provide easy access to the upcoming gaming service.

You can now access app updates by tapping on your profile picture at the top of the App Store and scrolling down to the Pending Updates section, which also houses a list of recent updates.

That's good, we always needed an Uninstaller built into the OS. Whenever I delete apps I have to go to delete the support files and preferences in the system folders. Wish this could be automatic. I used to use App Zapper.

They need to add the ability to permanently delete apps from your app store account. Not just hide them. There's too much junk you try, hate and will never use again. Also free apps for financial institutions or service providers you no longer use. It's always made me weary of what apps I even try. Since I can't just permanently remove them.

I recall reading once that you can call them to get something removed. That is way to convoluted.

You actually can, it’s a bit hidden. Go to the App Store —> Updates —> Click on your account (your picture in the upper right corner) —> Purchases and swipe over the app you want to hide.

I am so sorry, I updated my original post, this is not possible :/ Apple should really address this.

No worries, thanks for the reply.

I just turn on Private Browsing and continue viewing articles.

I only thought about this just a few days ago, thank you for the answering this though, much appreciated.

Try https://startpage.com -- it's private Google search.

Good advice, I too gave him this advice, sadly you can't make it the default search engine on iOS.

Funny how people are happy to become a function to delete apps.
Ever thought of housekeeping thru your ios screens and delete some stuff?

I specifically said not just hide them. I'm aware of the ability to hide. I would like the ability to delete.

Good feature... although, I prefer not to install Apps in first place unless I really see a benefit in it. Most Apps are simply not worth installing. Just use the webinterface if you need once a year...

That's far from the truth... A VPN may only provide added security if you use foreign WiFi or if the VPN provider has a firewall feature that you can tweak to your needs.
I use VPN on my iPhone and iPad for exactly that purpose. When connecting to WiFi that isn't mine.
Although, I connect home to my Mac Mini that runs an L2TP IPsec server: https://jonsview.com/how-to-setup-os-x-10-9-as-a-l2tp-vpn-server-without-apples-server-app
You will need some intermediate network knowledge to make it work, but if you have a static IPv4 (or defacto static such as on most cable modem) and a Mac at home that's the almost free way to go (almost because a running server will always affect your electricity bill). Speed will be limited to your upload speed at home.

This won't take you to the folder but you can find what folder it is in by doing a spotlight search for the app name. The folder name shows up on the right.

Thanks! I never noticed that.

Yes, velocityg4, I’m with you. Nobody else seems to get this on this thread.

While it’s more convenient to have an option to remove an app from your phone on the update screen, this is still wholly unsatisfactory for two reasons.

1. Many apps will only appear rarely if at all in the update list. It’s very haphazard way to manage.

2. You are only deleting them from your phone.

There should be a simple listing of ALL apps in your ACCOUNT with a column showing if it is installed on your phone. Then you should be able to delete them from your phone and permanently from your account. Better yet, there should be an edit that toggles radio buttons so that you can select and delete en masse.
