I specifically said not just hide them. I'm aware of the ability to hide. I would like the ability to delete.
I appreciate it - I have a long list of deleted apps. However, this is about bookkeeping and avoiding customer relations issues down the road. This is a record of business transactions. Try telling your bank, “delete my old credit card statements.” And I guarantee you, if this feature existed, there would be irate/upset people insisting that Apple restore accidentally or maliciously deleted purchase history. “I bought that, I want it back!” Granted, probably every app you want to banish was free, but the same might not be true of someone else’s iTunes purchases.

This is why the hide option exists.

Deleting an app doesn't stop iOS from asking you later if I want to use it. Is there an option to forget that app? I tried it and didn't like it.

Apple iOS confuses Delete with Offloading. And why is Offloading under General? Shows need for a Settings : Apps and better organization.
Sort by: last used, last updated, size, uninstall, offload, version, etc.

Even Apo Store doesn't sort or organize what apps are installed, in my library, and meaningfully listed.

Putting Delete under Profile? Minor babystep to what is needed.

It’s minor QoL improvements like this that make me realize how inconvenient iOS has been for a long time. So long that I got comfortable with it.

I know I'm not saying nothing new here, but I do applaud the photo example.
Deleting Facebook is extremely liberating!
It's different from deleting your account. Even if you use FB a lot, the app is kinda useless, just the same as the website with added bloat and semi-spyware.

That's why you should always use a VPN of some sort. I have NordVPN proxy in my web-browser, and have always-on VPN on my Mac, iPhone and iPad. The VPN helps you being protected from man-in-the-middle attacks as well.
Arguably makes things worse because you now trust an additional entity with ALL of your web traffic, plus you've indicated to them that you have something to hide.

Thanks! I never noticed that.

Yes, velocityg4, I’m with you. Nobody else seems to get this on this thread.

While it’s more convenient to have an option to remove an app from your phone on the update screen, this is still wholly unsatisfactory for two reasons.

1. Many apps will only appear rarely if at all in the update list. It’s very haphazard way to manage.

2. You are only deleting them from your phone.

There should be a simple listing of ALL apps in your ACCOUNT with a column showing if it is installed on your phone. Then you should be able to delete them from your phone and permanently from your account. Better yet, there should be an edit that toggles radio buttons so that you can select and delete en masse.

That would be great. On Android I can take a quick look in Google Play. There are four columns Updates, Installed, Library and Beta. I can see which apps need to be updated. A list of all Apps currently installed. The Library is all apps not installed with a delete button to clear them completely out of my Library. Finally the Beta column lets me know which apps I'm beta testing.

I just picture the head of the App Store with piles of old software at home. Who's never thrown out a single AOL floppy disk. Because they can't conceive of the notion of permanently getting rid of software they never use.

This is such a huge innovation, I feel like Android phone sales are going to be in the 1% market share range this year. Unless Android copies this feature, but even then, most OEMs don't update their android versions for a while.

Ok?

Android has only had this for about 4 years by now.

PLUS why doesn't the App store have a back button?
When you're looking at a bunch of apps that do similar things it would be great to be able to go back.
Just today I was shopping for a soccer score app and there are several possibilities, having to retype the name of the previous app is very annoying.

iPhones, and Apple in general, seems to be made for people who have nothing but time on their hand.

This is great. There are times I see and update, and think "why do I even have that app?". Then I'm too lazy to locate the icon and delete it, haha.

So many small quality of life improvements in iOS 13 and BETA'1 is running better than any previous x.1 BETA'1 I've tested. Looking really good so far.
But now it's a 2 step situation to check updates my ocd i check and refresh every day now its made it harder to check for updates so not really better

Tip, use startpage.com, it's got Google results with all G-crap.

on DuckDuckGo the search results are a bit old, but usually fine for most things.

When I need fresh results I just add “!sp” in front of my DuckDuckGo search on DuckDuckGo and it takes me to Startpage with the same search. So it’s like having Google results on demand by typing only 3 more characters.

Tim Cook ordered his software engineers to come up with the following UI for a Facebook app deletion: :D

i seen u, all u do is complain. be happy for once. :)
anyway, clicking on the account pic will lead to updates section. i am fine with it. NOT a dealbreaker imo

I decided to delete my Facebook and Twitter profile all-together. I can't still view things on Facebook when it's required (some restaurants etc only have Facebook pages...) and I can still read Tweet's when needed.

Good riddance. Some family members wondered what was going on as I suddenly disappeared, but most have gotten used to having to use iMessage or Telegram to message me instead.

Trying to cut all my connections to Google as well, but that's a bit tougher. DuckDuckGo is just not as good as Google Search, and there is no way I can stop using my YouTube account... What I have done in-terms of YouTube is to create a dummy account with a nonsensical e-mail without any of my personal information associated with the account.

I use DDGO as well as the search eng.
I would recommend that you take a look at startPage search. It uses google at the back-end and forwards the results to your device. Works very well for me.
I also use smartVPN pro app from Disconnect. You will be surprised to see what goes on your device with this app installed. Ad services/apis from google all over the place making background calls.
I think I will start a seperate thread on this as this is not the right thread this content. I know.

Thanks for the tip, wasn't aware of the !sp search option.

There are a few issues with Disconnect, first, if you already have a VPN service like I do it's a double VPN, no need for it.
Second, they say they offer a Basic free package, this is bad advertising, it downloads the App and next asks you to pay for the premium.
Third, you have little...actually no control over what is actually blocked, a better option (On a Mac) is getting Little Snitch and or Gasmask.

What is really needed is a complete 2.0 reboot of the internet where we the users have control over our data, not the ones providing services.
Those involved with the actual launch of the internet as we know it now agrees/are agreeing with this, it's insanity that we can't control/have complete control over what we want/share or being tracked.

I am not sure if SmartVPN pro is a full VPN (ignoring the name of the app). It has secure DNS and it encrypts HTTP traffic but thats about as far as it goes.
Also, I would have thought having just a VPN wont block trackers which is what the smartVPN Pro offers i guess.

AFAIK the basic option doesn't include Secure DNS and HTTP. So the premium adds them on the top.

In addition to their predefined black lists you add your own urls/api calls for blocking. I have been doing this to the point that some apps have stopped working :D. So, I have everything maxed out for blocking accd. to their presets and on top i add my own.
I am still on 7 day free trial, and i think i will pay for 25e / year subscription which i think is reasonable for me.
