I wish CarPlay could work without a head unit. Just get in car, plug in iPhone to charge and press CarPlay. Put iPhone in landscape orientation and have at it

Had a simplified version of it for years. Bluetooth connection to car speakers, as well ability to make handsfree calls and talk to Siri using handsfree, pretty seamless between the 3 including Apple Maps navigation. All I have to do it put Iphone in the cradle hooked to the rearview mirror and start the car. The cradle provides wireless charging too. Would love to figure a way to use steering wheel controls to rewind/skip audio recordings. Perhaps there is 3rd party bluetooth control pad?

Hopefully Album Art will be visible on CarPlay and not just a Blur background..

I totally agree. The functionality for CarPlay is excellent, but the user interface is just embarrassing for Apple. The album art would be great and who needs gigantic previous, next and pause buttons?

Mark my words. They'll find a reason to only permit iPhone 7 and newer to upgrade. Everyone else will have to buy new phones if they want the cool, new features.

Why would they have kept the 5s supported for an extra year than expected with ios 12 just to cut support for the 6s two years early?

This post is very out of touch with the reality of how apple treats old devices/obscelesence

How long have we been asking for dark mode??? Apple telling us the whole time, "You can't have it".

We'll it's going to take a lot more than dark mode Tim Cook to fix the mess you created.

Haha, this honestly cracks me up. I really couldn’t care less about anything that is coming....except for the iOS home screen redesign. That is seriously the only thing I am looking forward too. And also, looking forward to more multitasking features for the iPad as well.

“I don’t care about any of the three things. Except the one thing. And the second thing.”

The highly anticipated dark mode is coming to iOS after debuting on macOS. I can’t wait for the beta!

I respect that different people have different needs, and don’t begrudge you your desired features.

But i’ve never understood the point of dark mode, never used it on macOS, and just don’t get the point.

I’m just happy everyone will finally stop whining about it so we can move on to real problems like multi-user support, etc.

I use it on my MacBook Pro since my Air doesn’t have Mojave. Dark mode is one of those things that after trying it you won’t go back.

Oh yeah, iOS reaaaaally will be set apart from Android with a "cool dark mode". Who needs Siri integrated with other services like Spotify or an email client that renders emails with a decent font size, or Animoji's integrated in WhatsApp or a smarter and keyboard with adjustable key sizes, or a alarm clock integrated with a 3rd party music service or a reasonable aperture after more than 12 closed versions of IOS. Truly the salvation of apple, advertise dark mode as a "major" or "significant" improvement. Wow, what an innovative company. Now I see why the Chinese companies are being sued by youknowwho.

Nobody said dark mode will be the only improvement or new feature. Somebody posts something like this before every major iOS release. “Just new emoji?! Just new Animoji?! Just Live Photo’s?!” There are always lots of other changes.

Sounds promising, but a lot will happen between now and June and Apple isn’t as nimble as they used to be. I’m just used to them falling behind and features get pushed back another year. I just hope that’s not the case this year since it was rumored that some of these things were pushed back from last year so they will hopefully be mature designs that solve real problems and increase productivity. There are lots of little quirks with iOS that makes even things like editing a site in WordPress challenging such as crappy text selection controls that are really finicky at grabbing something or drag and dropping files over. I’ve tried doing the more simple but busywork parts of my job on the iPad Pro and it’s possible but more time consuming and painful. Nothing about it is fun except that I’m kicked back with my iPad. I have the opposite experience when I’m editing photos in Lightroom or something on my iPad. It’s a joy. I wish it was more friendly for web development and file management.

I'll bet $20 that it's not pure black.

You may be right, but if it isn't pure black you'd miss the advantage of power consumption.
Anyway I have an Xs and tried dark mode on the reader functionality in Safari. I think it looks great but at night I find it painful to my eyes, even more than a white background. I know using the phone in the dark is a bad idea and I tend not to do it, but still I'm not convinced dark mode works in all scenario.
It is great however to have a choice, so I hope dark mode will be available as an option, just like they did on the Mac. You select one and you're done, and you can change your mind at any time.
