Hate to say it, but 16.1 Beta 5 feels like a real dog. Seeing some nasty Wifi and 5G+ data lags, some graphical delays from the native OS, plus some real data churn / lag when pulling up some more complex stuff (like route calculation on Maps / G Maps). Whatever they did from 16.0 to 16.1 (heck 16.1 Beta 1 to now), its balance has turned to crap.

Using an iPhone 12 PM - no problems when using 16.0.
Interesting and weird. Not really seen any complaints here like yours with beta 5. On the contrary most are seeing improvements over 16.0. Odd how different people have such different results with same hardware and OS versions. Happens all the time tho.

Yup, I’m also getting these phantom calls at random times, last night driving home my radio kept cutting out and I see my phone has randomly dialed something and then hangs up all on its own..🤨

I'm having pretty bad battery life on my 14PM. Only gets 8 hours SOT on this beta, hopefully RC improves it next week.

For you. I am not seeing any of these issues.

To be fair, my beta is running from consecutive "upgrade on tops" ever since iOS 14. Might be a sign I need to just do a full clean install on the next full release, but it's such a pain when you have so many settings and data on the phone as it is. Bleh.

There’s a reason I do that.

So many people come in here screaming that the sky is falling because some bug or other is affecting their phones and they assume it’s happening to everyone else too. You’ll notice that I tend not to do this if someone 𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘴 if others are being affected rather than pronounce that the software is crap and that apple QC is garbage and the like.

I cannot abide absolute statements. I would wager that fully 60%+ of problems people have (of the serious sort) are likely due to unusual setups they have. Not saying it’s their fault (and this is why doing this sort of beta testing is valuable to Apple and the general public). But t’s probably not Apple’s fault either.

Please tell us what steps you’ve taken to resolve?

• If you’ve reset network settings more than once.

• Couple of hard restarts

• Reinstalled the beta

Then I’d say after all that, your phones got a problem. But if you’ve just installed the beta from an OTA… you can’t expect to think everything will be rosey. Also, god knows what set up you’ve have running and apps installed, that could be kicking a host of issues up, because your on the beta!

You know what to do:

I have done the same since WAY back (at least Oct 2014 iPhone 6) but most likely since iPhone 4s (iOS 5) as best as I remember. Most likely can just restore using IPSW, which will overwrite the full OS, and your backup THEN perform "reset all settings". Or just try the reset all settings first. Much easier than a start over. Thats all I have ever had to do if I had issues (rarely) and installed betas since probably iOS 7. My cellular reset call time stats currently shows 10/11/14. 😂

Anyone Else seeing autocorrection work horrible in this Beta. Spanisch ans german, Never got so many wrong corrections as in this Beta.

Any way to delete the database and having it recreated?
Yes! On top of everything else, having tori or even correcting words, holding down the space bar and moving the cursor around is like wrestling a greased pig.

I’m glad to hear all of this. I thought I was just getting fat-fingered. Apple really needs to invest in the algorithms for their keyboard, both autocorrect and swiping.

PS: I see that you were hit by the “proper name” bug as I’m sure “having tori” is 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘺 not what you intended to type. Happens to me all the time. Very annoying.

Absolutely the same issues here with the UK dictionary. Completely and utterly bollocked. What the hell are they playing at? I have reported all of this stuff but they don’t even bother returning my calls anymore. And I mean calls when they agree to phone me at a particular time. It gets even worse when I am using customers names or business names. Like Siri, it gets worse every year in my experience.

Are we expecting tomorrow’s beta drop to be the RC? There’s not very much time until the actual launch, if we’re expecting it sometime in October
If new devices are expected to be announced that would most likely be running 16.1, I'd assume this week's release is still labeled as a "beta" and not an 'RC" due to there might still be some references to said devices in code that they don't want out in the wild. If devices are speculated to be announced next week, maybe even with a release/availability of NEXT Friday the 28th, I'd say we maybe get the RC next week and still yet another beta this week, probably tomorrow.

Well this is annoying, I redeemed 3 months of free Arcade through App Store. Now everytime when I open App Store I get this window, I havent figured out the way to get rid off it yet.

I reported this to Apple.

Same for me. I didn't redeem Arcade, though. I just cannot access the Arcade tab at all, no matter what. Same error.

Can someone please tell me a bit more specifically about the island outline? I’n considering just updating to the beta to try it myself and then downgrading back to 16.0.3 but that’s more work than I’d like to do.

What does the island look like when the island is not in use with a dark wallpaper?

Does the outline ever go away?

Here’s what I’m currently seeing while locked:

When I unlock with faceid and get to my (also dark) homescreen, the island is hidden because it’s in a part of my wallpaper that’s black. The way people are talking, it keeps a white outline even when it’s not being used?

My main concern is that when using my dark wallpaper, even when not using the island, it will have an outline similar to my screenshot. That will definitely annoy me and I’ll consider sticking with 16.0.3 just to avoid that.
