Anyone else’s location constantly being used by system services (motion calibration & distance + find my iPhone) and weather?

Still seeing an issue with Sleep Focus correctly activating on Apple Watch when using Siri.

If I activate it from Control Center both the Phone and Watch go into screen-off mode, as well as showing the sleep icon.

If I use Siri to activate the Focus the visual cues appear on the Watch, but it doesn't change from the current watch face to the "night" face.

Me too. Compass Calibration, Find My iPhone, Location-Based Alerts, Motion Calibration & Distance and Significant Locations.
That’s been occurring both on my iPad Pro as well as my 14 Pro Max with 16.2 betas and now the release version. Fortunately there has been no battery impact. Battery life has been outstanding on both devices.

Damn, my iPhone has taken quite a hit in the battery department with the location always being on.

Edit: it's only day 1 after updating, but I'm at 25% where I'd usually be around 40%

I would always wait a few days before worrying about the battery after an update. You never know what background tasks need to run after an update.

Yeah, which is why I mentioned it was day 1. Hopefully it fixes itself.

For those of my brethren who've been on the 16.2 beta train, how's the battery been for you?

Question is, how would all these features work if location was NOT on almost constantly? The new widgets and such would have to know location to actually work correctly. Also most are also saying these are not really affecting battery so it seems if folks want to make use of these features, then it needs to be on. Otherwise turn off location services totally.

Anyone else seeing battery drain from the Health App. Since the update, despite only 1 or 2 mins screen on time, it’s apparently accounting 60% plus of my battery. But only after I open it in any given day. So weird.

I may have pinpointed a very annoying FaceID lag issue that plagued my device since 16.2 beta, I believe it’s isolated to 14 p and pm only, it appears this may have something to do with Dynamic island, am working with an Apple support at the moment hoping for a solution soon.

I have attached 2 videos showing the lag, I am using a 3rd party app for the demonstration for security purposes but this can also be duplicated via Settings -> password for those who have iCloud keychain turned on, 14 PM on 16.2 public release, 16.1.2 does not have this issue

1st vid, with nothing inside dynamic island, you can see the lag / unresponsive scroll

2nd vid, now with Apple music occupying the dynamic island (or any app will do), no lag or much less apparent

Same for me. It works properly with telegram/WhatsApp but with password I have the same lag.

14 pro > lag
14 pro max > lag
13 pro > no lag
13 mini > no lag
12 > no lag

Probably it’s a bu.. new feature 😅 of the 14 pro models

Any evidence on this point?

Since updated to 16.2 we have noticed the call list showing merged/joint calls. These calls didn’t happen. Is there a way to repair this.

Man, everything is sluggish! I’ve reset network settings, multiple restarts, cleared history, etc. I’ve got a 14 Pro. It’s been a very frustrating experience.

Still struggling with CarPlay since 16.0
Dropping connection to car randomly and it appears sometimes when switching cell towers. It actually causes the head unit on the car to turn off or close the app.

Also on my lock screen, the weather widget is no longer working. Either says "unavailable" or its just grayed-out lines.

Any evidence on this point?
if you have a 14P or PM, try the 2 scenarios I suggested in the vid ('with' then 'w/o' activity in the Dynamic island), instead of using a 3rd party app, try Settings -> Passwords, the lag is very apparent, at least for my 14PM

I have the same behaviour. Really weird. I'm wondering why with some device it works properly and with others it don't.
