When I take my Pro's gen1 out of the case the case disappears completely and I just get each airpod charge level in the two circles.. I'm curious, is this a feature of the Pro's gen2 to show case charge all the time while connected?same here.. when airpods are out of the case; it's showing %0 then back in the case, it's accurate percentage.

Question is, how would all these features work if location was NOT on almost constantly? The new widgets and such would have to know location to actually work correctly. Also most are also saying these are not really affecting battery so it seems if folks want to make use of these features, then it needs to be on. Otherwise turn off location services totally.
Anyone else’s location constantly being used by system services (motion calibration & distance + find my iPhone) and weather?
Same here
Me too. Compass Calibration, Find My iPhone, Location-Based Alerts, Motion Calibration & Distance and Significant Locations.
That’s been occurring both on my iPad Pro as well as my 14 Pro Max with 16.2 betas and now the release version. Fortunately there has been no battery impact. Battery life has been outstanding on both devices.
Damn, my iPhone has taken quite a hit in the battery department with the location always being on.
Edit: it's only day 1 after updating, but I'm at 25% where I'd usually be around 40%
I would always wait a few days before worrying about the battery after an update. You never know what background tasks need to run after an update.
Excuse me, I only replied to say I had the same problem.Yeah, which is why I mentioned it was day 1. Hopefully it fixes itself.
For those of my brethren who've been on the 16.2 beta train, how's the battery been for you?
After all that, the solution for me was to turn off "Find My Network' (Settings, User, Find My, Find My iPhone). Maybe re-start your iPhone and wait for the arrow to disappear. Defo worked for me.Damn, my iPhone has taken quite a hit in the battery department with the location always being on.

anyone else having this glitch? my dynamic island will occasionally overlap my cellular bar
Same here. I had zero background activity at all over night on 16.1.2, but now with 16.2 I have Find My always on background. Do you have the same issue? Here’s what mine did after I updated and plugged in. It’s mostly 6-7 minutes of mail and a min of weather and and min of photos. Hope this goes away tonight when I plug in! There was zero background overnight on 16.1.2. I only updated because my watch auto updated and was showing the weather for Cupertino instead of syncing with my phone. So I thought updating my phone would fix this and it eventually did after a force restart on the watch and a reboot of the phone.

Someone had the same issue but a different concept.Yup.
Glad to see others having this problem, it's very annoying but hopefully an easy fix on the next upgrade!same here.. when airpods are out of the case; it's showing %0 then back in the case, it's accurate percentage.

That weird overnight usage disappeared after that first night. I think it was just a glitch from the install. Yes I always have find my using some background usage through out the day. I suspect that everyone who has find my turned on will have that same background usage and there is nothing we can do about it. It’s just there by design and I’ve learned to not obsess over it because my battery life is awesome on my 14 pro so there is no need to worry.Same here. *February))I'd suspect we could get iOS 16.2.1 possibly first week of January, unless Apple plans on fixing the AOD and Dynamic Island bugs quickly.
If I go in to Apple wallpapers and choose one background, I must do a new lockscreen. Cant change only home screen background. Need to completely do a new lock and home screen template. Really annoying.I changed over to using the wallpaper settings to achieve a similar result
