Damn, my iPhone has taken quite a hit in the battery department with the location always being on.

Edit: it's only day 1 after updating, but I'm at 25% where I'd usually be around 40%
2 days in and my battery life is still horrible. iPhone 13 mini, about 3 hours SOT. Used to get about 6 hours. Oh well, that teach me to use my phone less and do more things IRL now.

Sheesh, after updating, it seems like every single app has run away with background activity, even after a reboot and several hours elapsed for “optimization.”

Background App Refresh is off of course.
Here’s what mine did after I updated and plugged in. It’s mostly 6-7 minutes of mail and a min of weather and and min of photos. Hope this goes away tonight when I plug in! There was zero background overnight on 16.1.2. I only updated because my watch auto updated and was showing the weather for Cupertino instead of syncing with my phone. So I thought updating my phone would fix this and it eventually did after a force restart on the watch and a reboot of the phone.

I’ve had that happen for a long time now. A lot of apps will run in the background when plugged in even if background refresh is off. Any app with always location permission can run at any time.

The Alexa app is an egregious example of this. It uses 5% of my daily battery and I never run it. I’d disable always location, but I need it to turn off phone service when I’m not home.

Revert to 16.1.2 before window closes (restore and hold option -> point to ipsw for your device can get from ipsw.me) and restore from a 16.1.2 backup

How long has this been here? There’s an option to open the link directly in the app instead of as a new tab in Safari so long as the app is installed

Finally took the plunge and upgraded my devices, iPhone 13 Pro and iPad Pro 11" (2020), to 16.2 from 15.7.1. So far everything has been really smooth. I've had no issues with WiFi and my battery life seems to be the same as it was. I'm loving all the new features, especially being able to edit text messages.

Hi all, anyone else have contacts that you bulk imported from vCard/spreadsheets to see if a bug I have is replicated? I imported about 250+ work contacts a couple of years ago. 16.2 update has created an issue where a text string now appears in the Contact card immediately following the mobile number (but only the contacts I mass imported). Screenshot:

Numbers still dial out correctly but incoming calls are not being recognised as a saved Contact. By the time I realised the glitch the changes had synced with iCloud and across all my other devices. I have logged a ticket with Apple but no fix yet. Manually editing the card and deleting the text fixes the issue but don't plan on repeating that 250+ times....!

Annoying bug that shows 0% battery for my AirPods case when it has 100%

THANK YOU, yes same here! I updated to 16.2 a few days ago.
Plopped the AirPods in tonight and...same! I thought it was a bad cable, swapped...same problem. Tried a new charger, nope. Reset the Airpods, it connected - which DID show a % on the case briefly. But back to 0%

Seems like the Pods are charging, I had 100% when I took them out. 😒

dang thats ridiculous! ^
Was looking up online for bugs, issues. I saw this -"posted 11 hours ago"
https://www.dealntech.com/ios-16-2-bug-airpods-case-shows-0-battery-even-charge/

"If you’re facing the 0% Battery problem, your best bet is to take your AirPods to an authorized service centre. Provided they’re under warranty or Apple Care, the technicians should help you. You can also give your feedback to Apple; if enough people do, the problem might get fixed in the following security patch. We will update you if and when any fixes present themselves."

Nah, not heading to the Apple Store now or appointments. This HAS to be a bug that an update can fix. Charging the pods now, I get the orange light on the case showing it's doing that. Just the icon on phone and iPad shows basically a dead case...which is NOT the case (no pun intended LOL)

Its like it's the case is not communicating with the newly updated device(s)

While charging does the display turn off completely even if you have AOD ON ?
On ios 16.0.1 was working fine

Newly introduced UI bug: in messages if you tap on a photo in the chat thread to make it full screen, then tap done to go back to the chat thread the input bar no floats about 1/4 way up from the bottom of the screen instead of being docked at the bottom

Anyone having issues with wifi disconnecting on the 16.2 RC?

The wifi symbol would still be visible but nothing would load eg. App Store and YouTube. Once I turn off wifi and connect to mobile data everything would load again.

This kept happening today multiple times. Never happened til I installed the RC.

I am now seeing this bug too. Getting random Wi-Fi drops disconnecting. Even reset network settings. Rebooted. Wasn’t happening in other prior beta’s.

Is this a new bug with 16.2? The time isn’t moved when a live activity is on dynamic island.

Same here. Also reset network connections, updated via IPSW, etc. oh well good thing I have good 5G 😵‍💫
Edit: oops, thought I was in the 16.3 b1 thread. Didn’t disconnect for me on 16.2 release. But now randomly disconnecting on 16.3 b1…..

Decided to jump off the beta train before the holidays. This started the other night at home. Which, I thought was odd. Then out in public where there’s free Wi-Fi and I’ve been before. Noticed it wasn’t automatically connected. Tried connecting and it kept spinning and no symbol at the top. Eventually, it did connect. Also, now keeping an eye on it. Just weird.

If you choose blur for the homescreen bubbles wallpaper, it will just black out background
