If it does that, it usually means you have some issues with your wifi router that makes it incompatible/wonky with AirPlay. Do you happen to have several different routers connected to each other, or something like that? Or any particular switches or other devices on your network?
Nope, just this guy.

As @jav6454 once said:

“DFU mode is like sandpaper to wood when it comes to eliminating software issues.

Got issues? This is the one I always recommend.”

My device is running smooth like butter after the process and i have no problem carry on doing dfu restore in future but ONLY one ☝️. 🫣🤭🫢
I DFU every year when the new iOS is released, and never seem to get any of the issues I read about on these forums (plus I do tethered updates throughout the year). I can DFU, set up as new, and install my apps in about an hour, while watching TV. I don’t get why people think it’s such a huge issue - definitely worth it for another year of trouble-free iPhone 😊

I tried a DFU for the first time a couple of days ago. I thought it was an easy process and I actually got the button combo correct on the first try. I was hoping it would fix my random data connection drop that's been plaguing me forever but it didn't. I think that issue is modem related because it seems to change either for the worse or for the better when the modems get updated. I wouldn't hesitate to do a DFU again if need be.

Small update, still very good performance overall on my 14PM, smooth animations, very few stutters
Still, the mic notification orange led sometimes shows in the corner instead of the island, keyboard haptic not working every time and no keyboard showing from now and then when swiping down from the home screen.
Battery pretty good, a little worse than 16.2 but given the performance increase.. I can cope with it.
Also, one issue they ll never resolve I think, is the frame dropping in 60fps videos on YouTube, have had that on all PM genereations I owned. (12,13,14)

Do you have to use iTunes to use DFU? I have a PC (not Mac) and haven’t used iTunes for a long while. I do my backups using iMazing. Thanks!

I followed directions from a YouTube vid and I just plugged into my 11 year old MacBook Pro. Was a super easy process. Sorry but don't have any idea if another method would work. If I do it again I'll do it the same way.
Lots of good info on YouTube, maybe take a look.

Those cable modems often have wonky wifi in my experience, though. Did you try restarting it?
It’s a new setup. I tore everything down and started from scratch. I saw a huge increase in data speeds across the board but the HomePods always gotta be ****s about it.

It’d be one thing if they just didn’t work; that would indicate an anomaly in the setup that I could find and correct. This is more like “work now and then but suck the good majority of the time”.

As someone who worked in-store on iPhones, DFU's are not harmful but are the most extreme method of troubleshooting and solving issues. I do personally think it's nice to do it once a while if you've been using the same hardware for sometime through a few iOS versions.

If your phone fails through a DFU restore, there was generally a pre-existing hardware issue waiting to come up.

Are you saying I should DFU restore my iPhone to resolve an Airplay issue between my HomePod and Apple TV?

Is it a bug that my iPhone was bricked trying to update connected to my Mac Pro; and I had to move over to my laptop to restore it? Both Macs are also on the latest macOS before doing this.

Apple better hope I do not need to head to an Apple Store -- because they will get an earful.

I’ve experienced a couple of app crashes within the past 12 hours—interestingly both were system apps. Firstly Apple Music crashed last night (shortly before I restarted my phone) and then the Clock app this morning when attempting to access the timer shortcut in Control Center. Not a great sign.

Can I get a few folks to check/try this out….

I have WiFi Calling turned on.
Twice this weekend I am on a call (5G) and when I walk back to the house (walking the barker) and it connects to WiFi it drops the call. The other party says it just goes silent.

13-series modem firmware is indeed a bit iffy on this version. I’ve had some weirdness on my 13 mini as well, particularly when switching on the data connection in order to place a call (since I usually have my phone in airplane mode when away from wifi). Hopefully tomorrow our phones’ networking issues will be rectified :)

Using Siri to translate something like “How do you say ‘Good morning in German’” fails and she just spins.
