Why don’t you go back and look at the threads regarding bugs in iOS 15? Seriously. It’s the same thing every year: people making mountains out of mole hills (little visual glitches).

You’re being ridiculous staying on iOS 15. It had its own bugs that lasted the whole cycle (and into iOS 16) and you’re putting your data at risk by skipping all of the security updates that have been included in the (buggy) iOS 16 updates.

Update your phone. It’s not as bad as you’re perceiving.
Agreed! iOS 16.4 has been super solid for me all around. Getting great battery life and the phone is buttery smooth. Of course there are random visual glitches but they are infrequent and very minor, for me at least.

Seems unlikely they’re not be including said security fixes in iOS 16.
It's the other way around if anything, according to the security website the fixes from iOS 16 are often backported to 15 at a later date.

But what I was trying to say is that you're not getting any security patches if you stay on an older version than what your device supports, whether it's iOS 15 or 16.

Sorry I’m late. Anyhoo, I babied my 12 pro max and still managed to run it down to 86% in less than two years so now I can’t even be bothered to baby the 14 pro max. Only thing I do is put my phone right up to the A/C unit while charging at max wattage. And yes I fast charge every day through a wire. Maybe the 12 was a dud? Ha.

12 series battery is iconically bad. How do you think they made them so thin? My regular 12 absolutely sucked in both short and long-term life while my 13 mini demolishes it 🙌😹

Yeah them downgrading the batteries in every 12 model AND adding 5G support at the same time was just a recipe for disaster. Worst series ever! Not to mention the green tint and LCD black issues.

Yes I do need to start using a 5w charger, I think I found one just the other day too, I’ll have to find it.

I do have a MagSafe charger but I infrequently use it because I was fearful it would harm my battery, now I only use it when my phone is wet after a washing.

Wouldn’t buy one from Amazon either, I will find my old one somewhere around here!

It should be a user accessible setting to adjust how much wattage is used in charging. If I want to slow charge when I plug my phone in overnight for example I should be able to choose this.

Yes. Everyone.

Well, I am, and I like to think I speak for everyone. Apart from you.

😆

So after a deeper individual dive into notifications for each account, they were off. F knows why. Also optimised charging was on. 🙄

Would love to know why settings are changed FFS. Hands off my data Apple.

All sorted.

So, basically ... you turned off notifications, complained notifications were off, and turned them on again.

Glad we got that sorted.

You're so in the ecosystem you're sleep-configuring your devices!

DOWNGRADING: on a Mac, using the options key + IPSW file FAILED going from 16.5 beta 1 to 16.4... for me. Normally this hasn't been a problem, but considering the new beta "non profiles" set up now, might be interfering with that easy process - A restore got me back to 16.4 using the above method with the IPSW file.

TESTED: Updating and reinstalling the iOS using this method works fine. 👍🏼

This may be new, or I am just seeing it for the first time. I forgot to grab a screenshot though.

Wife texted me that we need to make enchiladas for an event tonight and asked me to "pick up the stuff on my way home from work."

Top of the message thread had a banner for a Siri reminder to "pick up the stuff." and had an add button to add to reminders.

Is this new in 16.5? Or had I never received a message that triggered it before?

There were many unresolved issues mentioned in the release notes of iOS 16.4 RC.
Do we expect them to have been resolved in this 16.5 beta 1.

I have VERY occasionally gotten one of those in earlier versions. But so rarely as to be totally unuseful.

Not new.
I suspect, based on the infrequency of these, that it requires specific words or phrase to trigger this.

I ignore the few I get.

Just an update on my Apple Watch 8 excessive battery drain—it started draining really fast starting in watchOS 9.4 beta 4 and persisted through 9.5 beta 1. I finally tried an unpair and re-pair yesterday and it seems to have solved the issue. FYI for anyone with a similar issue.

On 16.5 beta1. 8% battery was consumed to complete the update. It took less than 30 mins to complete the update.
