I am on iOS 16 beta on an iPhone 13 with an eSIM and I‘ve read the comments that iOS 16 Beta could be more buggy.

If I were to restore back to 15.5 would the eSIM survive or would I have to get a new QR code?

are you able to see what kind of distance from your mac you can go, i know we can probably use handoff but just a question

Both iPhone and Mac are on the newest beta and I can’t get it to work

Well I don’t know the answer to your question about the ESIM, but the reports in this thread so far about iOS 16 seem to undercut the pre-WWDC “warnings” about buginess. Unless tot are experiencing something specifically, I’d stay put.

Just noticed a Privacy notification you can tap to get more information at the top of the Control Center. It only appears after you have used something privacy related, such an app accessing your location.

That’s not how it’s designed.

Any update involves an integrity check to make sure the right file has been downloaded from Apple’s servers and as Craig responded, there’ll be a cryptographic signature check to ensure everything went well.
OTA is done using small files that’ll either be added or replaced as a whole and not by individual lines of code.

I’m still not totally convinced that IPSW is a better way to update for two reasons.
1. There’s no way to OTA a second time in case of an issue.
2. No one’s tested OTA vs IPSW on two identical devices with similar setup and posted their results.

1. You could down grade to 15.5 and then update again to 16 B1 over OTA and see if you can replicate that bug again. Is a potential way to get that OTA update again.

2. This is my goal one day. To have two identical phones with set ups. One I’d update via OTA and one only IPSW files… then theres no room for any discrepancy.

Potentially getting my old XR back from mum, which would then mean I could buy a cheap 2nd hand one to do exactly this.

Keep us posted when you get a chance to test out scenario #2.

I’m still on the beta cycle for 15.6. Skipping the 16 till public release as I’m getting tired of setting up all the cards in Apple Pay every time I had to reset.

I randomly can’t download new apps from the AppStore?? Anyone had this bug and know how to fix? I tried force closing, restarting, and updating via Ipsw—no luck. Might downgrade back to 15 for now and wait for beta 2.

This time around, I updated with OTA and didn't reset the phone. All my cards were unusually stable, no re-establishing was needful

I'm not sure if that's normal? Previous years, I wiped my iPhone absolutely clean without restoring backup.. to best avoid any residual issues from the previous year of use

So far, so good.. now if only Apple could convince Elon to take over my car with that sick new CarPlay! =)))

Haven’t read anything about this on the forum, but I noticed a nice little touch to the app switcher animations. While going through or closing apps, the apps behind the most recent one open are more dim and transition as you maneuver between apps. Aside from that, have had iOS 16 beta 1 installed on my 13 pro max for 5 days now. No crashes or lock ups yet. The only issues so far are odd UI overlaps and to be expected less than stellar battery life. (7-8hrs sot per charge compared to 10+ on iOS 15.5.) Hoping beta 2 is a step forward😀

Curious to know if anyone has been able to have universal control working on their iPad in this beta? Current Setup MBP M1 Pro + iPad Pro M1.

Was using on iOS 15, but appreciate this is a beta.

eSIM would survive, remember not to delete existing mobile data plans when reset or installation happens. I have done several times and never lost eSIM Mobile plan.

I had not a single percentage drop on standby over night 😱 I don’t remember the last time this happened on iOS 15.

Usage time is a whole different story of course but it’s a beta and to be expected

I had bad drain with the weather widget until I disabled location services for the weather app. This stops the app/widget from constantly polling GPS data, but also prevents you from getting weather notifications from your "current" location. I took a compromise and saved a few primary locations.

I don't travel a whole lot but can easily add in a location if I do. 🤷‍♂️
In my case, the location has nothing to do with it, because the widgets have never had permission to use it, and the app only when I open it, and I practically never open it.
