I like how it can be toggled between full size and mini so I can glance at the widgets. Work needs to be done with the background shading though. I’ve noticed some album covers cause the background to have issues with the font luminescence causing it to wash out and be illegible.
Yeah, hopefully they remove this gradient-blur effect completely from behind the expanded now-playing interface for those of us with Reduce Transparency enabled. A plain gray or complete transparency (revealing one’s wallpaper, like with the smaller player) would be nice.

I’m liking the new music widget in the Lock Screen, however I’ve noticed in all the betas so far that it fades away too quickly, in ios15 the music widget would enable the screen to stay awake for a lot longer, maybe 10 seconds, while in ios16 so far the screen only wakes for 2-3 seconds even when music being played. I prefer to have longer when I’m skipping tracks etc
Agreed; this needs adjusting. The new lock screen definitely “celebrates album artwork”…for a split-second.

I’ve noticed its designed so if the picture you’re looking to use would block out the time by a certain amount, it will put the entire time on top. You can see it change a bit if you zoom in and out on certain pictures.

Only change in the below pictures was a slight adjustment to its location

I wish it worked for me the way it does for you.

Here’s an example of me trying to use a wallpaper where it just covers the time a tiny bit. Still no depth:

But then you see one of Apple’s default wallpapers:

How does one access the dev portal if we are only on the public beta?

I don’t know if you’re just trying to sound clever or won’t use your initiative…

But, the answer to this very easy question is:

1. A friend.
2. Use Google with the original question and see where that leads you - I can’t tell you where as it’s against MacRumors policy and I’d rather not get banned, but trust me, there’s lots out there to help you.

Did you delete the earlier download? If not, follow these instructions:

1) On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings and tap General.

2) Select iPhone Storage or iPad Storage, depending on your device.

3) Locate and tap the downloaded iOS software update.

4) Select Delete Update and confirm you do want to delete it.

I am going to DFU again and go back and double check this. When I tried again this morning I had to redownload the PB so I’m think the version I tried yesterday was gone but I’m going to make sure this time.

Back to 15.5 I go.

Anybody else having the “allow paste” pop-up appear every time they paste something, regardless if YOU paste it yourself or not? Also I love the new Haptic Touch option available for the keyboard. Just feels better feeling a response for each letter. I wonder how much battery this feature uses if you do a lot of typing.

Battery life is terrible for me on this beta. Down to 40% with not much usage. Anyone else have this issue?

Rock solid for me. I’d bore you with a graph but I’ll save you from that.

Hard restarts or I’d reinstall the iOS normally sorts this out if its not a runaway app you can identify and off load and reinstall. 👍🏼

Same here. Regular usage is fine but anything graphically intensive (FaceTime, playing games, continuous video streaming) really drains it a lot more than before installing the beta.

I think your issue may be that the sand dunes you want to obscure the clock are in the image background. The moon, however is in the foreground. Think of the clock as being in the foreground for this purpose. It would make no sense for a background item to obscure a foreground item.

I only asked on the "Report an issue" thing, as it's pretty obscure. But I suspect it's designed to crowd-source locating areas where reported temps/conditions don't jibe with boots-on-the-ground observations. And I suspect that that occurs frequently in areas like yours where I suspect seaside temps/conditions differ from those just a few miles inland. Just speculation on my part...

That's cool. I had originally submitted one. ;)
Think something is wrong with a setting on their end (app). Been solid overcast since mid afternoon yesterday and for current is says sunny and partly cloudy or mostly cloudy.

For those that work with the public and lots of paperwork throughout the day looks like handwashing when returning to home reminder is working again in this beta. I will confirm it works again tonight.

What about this one? There a pretty stark light/dark separation of foreground and background in this image.

I also tried with a few Portrait Mode shots that were taken from a few other iPhones (XR, 11 Pro) and even those, being portrait mode shots processed by Apple cameras, did not yield any depth effect.

Not every time but there are a couple of apps, like Google Maps, where it asks every single time

It may be one of 2 things (or something else altogether):

-The software may (correctly) identify the area I’ve circled in red below as being the foreground and thus decline to obscure the top of the “blades” as they are further back.
-It may only work on faces and relatively simple images, such as the Moon.

Try this (Based on the sunflower photo above): zoom in on the top of this figure so that it dominates the top of the frame. Like the sunflower photo, perhaps that will trigger it.

I noticed on the new Lock Screen music player, that if you're using AirPods or iPhone speaker, you don't see volume control on the music player, but if you're playing via HomePod, you see a volume bar in the bottom. Using an iPhone 13 mini on public beta.

AirPods (no volume bar):

Tried to address both your very valid suggestions by just downloading a simple, flat image of the moon from google and giving it a go LOL

Yep, that’s pretty much the way it’s been across iOS 16 betas thus far. Seems like at minimum there should be on-screen volume control available in the expanded lock screen player view.

Also great taste there, friend 🥰🥰💞

The copy paste issue happens a few times a day for me; I’m assuming it’s just an annoying beta bug

LOL. Well I got nothing left to give here. We might just be able to chalk this up to it being a beta. Or there’s some setting somewhere you need to toggle. Not sure. Keep us posted!

Really appreciate your help hahaha. This comes with the beta territory though so I'm definitely going to keep experimenting as the updates roll in!

I think it is partially the images you are using. I grabbed the non-cropped version of the Mojave wallpaper and it works fine.

Jeeze man.

I’m not new to betas but I honestly didn’t know it was possible. Was just asking.
