Doesn't iPadOS already display the battery %?
It does, but I meant the new update to the UI that shows the number within the battery icon. iOS also already showed the battery percentage in the Control Center view.

Agreed. Same issue with missing silent mode indicator 🔕. Apple should bring back it too.Dumbest thing ever removing it in the first place. Should've at least given an option...it's probably the most important info next to signal strength.
And missing multiple users (accounts) feature, I hope. Currently, it's available only for pupils at schools, but not for anyone else for some incomprehensible reason.First new emoji and now this. Next thing you know they will add a built in calculator to the iPad.😄
Or for me an option to display a missing silent mode indicator 🔕.Maybe in 3 years they will let me remove the home bar lol
And color.Looks like it will be full all the time. Only thing that changes is the number. But I could be wrong.
The calculator app will never appear on iPad as it’s meant for creative professionals who don’t need to add/subtract etc. 🤔First new emoji and now this. Next thing you know they will add a built in calculator to the iPad.😄
Right, they should have just the percentage (with percent sign) without the “pill” icon. Maybe it’s because there’s not enough space to add the “charging” thunderbolt on the side, so they revert to the “charging” icon when charging instead of showing the percentage?Only complaint I have is that from a distance the icon looks like it indicates a full battery when it’s only partially charged. I realize this is a result of it not being practical to split the contrast of the text over partially depleted battery, but this is going to take some getting used to as at a glance I thought I had a full battery until I looked closely.
The reason is very comprehensible: more iPads sold if they can’t be conveniently shared. And missing multiple users (accounts) feature support, I hope. Currently, it's available only for pupils at schools, but not for everyone else for some incomprehensible reason.
From my current testing...it looks like it doesn't. I'm at 63% and it is solid black or white with the large number. I think the battery likely just turns yellow/red/green depending on the status and you can't "see" the percentage if you have the number enabled.
So far I actually find it kind of annoying and ugly, especially if you have a dark home wallpaper and open an app like mail, it calls way too much attention to itself being so large compared to the wifi/network icons. Should either be a smaller icon or filled in gray vs solid black.
Looks like the battery is now going to stay full looking since the examples show a battery in 80 and 87 percent. To me that appears to make things more confusing. Also don’t like that it does not show a percent “Perhaps they have removed the graphic charge indicator in order to fit the numbers in? that would suck as I found the quick check of the graphic more useful than the approximate detail of the numbers.
Thanks all - looks like you are all right, the graphic never changes, looks like it will always "be full" with the number simply shown.Perhaps they have removed the graphic charge indicator in order to fit the numbers in? that would suck as I found the quick check of the graphic more useful than the approximate detail of the numbers.
It’s not about frequency. It’s that when you glance at the battery, you don’t want to be forced to do an awkward extra swipe to see if its at 25% or 35% (say). Another way to state this is that the battery icon does a relatively poor job of conveying the amount of battery left. A bar graph with five vertical bars that shrink one after the other would be more precise, for example: “llllı” for ~95%.I honestly can’t understand this obsession. If you look at the percentage all the time it literally feels like the battery drains faster.
why would i do that in public randomlyAnother way (if the situation allows) is to say “Hey Siri, battery”.
it’s the same design you choose to keep it off; no one is forcing ya to have numbers, this is just for people like me that hated that the percentage was gone iphone x and upGreat to see! But, controversially.. Am I the only one that prefers the current design over this new one?
Yeah, 10 years and finally it is here.i can’t believe it actually took this long… but hooray
Nope, 10 years. They took it away in iOS 11 for iPhone X.It only took five years!
They needed 10 years to develop this feature. Not 5. But only need 1 year to take the feature away in iOS 11.Is this, like, a joke?
They needed five years?
Really?
That’s why I wrote “if the situation allows”. Jeez.why would i do that in public randomly
You will appreciate it even more with the iPhone 14 Always on Display. Don't ever have to pull down or tap the screen no longer. The battery percentage will be there forever![]()
