You can always load a backup from an older iOS version onto a new iPhone. Updating your old phone is of no benefit, other than getting a sneak peek at the latest iOS.

What can be a problem is if the iOS update you put on your old phone is newer than what comes pre-installed on the new iPhone. That has happened where an iOS update comes out before your new iPhone arrives.
And who am I kidding? There’s no way they release iOS 16 tomorrow and I don’t updated my iPhone 13 Pro. No way. 🤪

Edit: And as expected, I'm watching 16 download now. Zero discipline. 😂

14 IOS versions to finally semi customize the Lock Screen!. And that is a “new IOS version”! Great innovation from a great American company. God saves us from competition!

Lets hope it sorts out battery drain , when I first got my 13 pro max the battery life was mind blowing now it's not that impressive...

Hopefully iOS16 will reset it ???
My 13 Pro battery life hasn’t been good right out of the box. I thought it was going to put my X (that still had 85% capacity) to shame but it’s not even that much better.

i don't even care for editing lock screen, maybe 10 years ago when I had android
I think you'll be surprised by this... the ability to have whatever information you want on your Lock Screen (e.g. a live stock/crypto price, delivery status, weather forecast, sports score, etc) without having to even open your phone, navigate to an app, etc is a fantastic, time-saving utility to have.

Best of all, no one is forcing you to use it if you don't want to, so it's all gravy, really.

When getting a new phone with a new iOS on the way, I wait for my new phone before installing the new iOS.

Am I the only one that does this?
I would definitely not do that. In fact I’ve been using iOS 16 since the public beta was out. Very underwhelming release.

I hate the Camera and Torch button on my Lock Screen and we still can't get rid of this .. Fully Customizable ?? Android had these feature since 10 years ... WTH ........

Installed the beta, had to double check if it installed, because i didn't notice any changes... Well at least when i'll receive my 14 pro max there will be that dynamic island.

But you know what really grinds my gears? NOT ABLE TO SELECT A WORD IN MESSAGES, ios 16 and i still can't copy a word from a message... what a shame

There's obviously more new stuff than just the ones "worth checking out" in the article. Here are additional ones that I find "worth checking out", too.

1. Battery status numbers :D
2. iCloud Shared Photo Library (once it launches)
3. Safari Passkeys
4. Live Text in Videos
5. New Home App
6. Photos Duplicate Detection
7. Translate Camera
8. Visual Look Up (Lift subjects from picture background)
9. Easier access to "Family" and "AirPods" in the settings app

Some of them small ones maybe, but a lot of handy stuff imo.

Wow, so customizable, and yet I can’t get rid of the flashlight or camera buttons that I constantly activate by accident.

On that topic, why the hell do we need a camera button AND a swipe left for the camera?
I guess you are accident prone. I’ve not herd of this being an issue but with YOU !

Quick question: It's been a while since I beta tested any Apple OS, ate there any special steps I need to take to go from the beta version to the 'official' release today?

Edit: Sorry, never mind, I got the answer from the beta FAQ.
