It is unclear in that article, the title states the 12th, but later in the article it actually states:

"Unlike in previous years, Apple is not releasing ‌iOS 16‌ and iPadOS 16 simultaneously. While ‌iOS 16‌ will be available to iPhone users on Tuesday, September 13, iPadOS 16 will be available later this fall."

I have devices on the PB program, and installed it, that’s why I posted that it was out for PB users.

That means it is safe to sign up for public beta testing to get the RC - if I feel I deserve to get the update this week ?

Or is the "warranty" on the release on the 12th with different warrenties - when it comes to failures/backuping ?

You will need to decide for yourself - the Release Candidate that came out yesterday is absolutely fine, but we cannot be a 100% sure whether the public release on 12 Sep will be exactly the same build. But even if these builds are different, the only major inconvenience for you would be that you will be installing iOS 16 twice within the same week. 😉

We should get 16.1 beta 2 either Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

I highly doubt we will get a iOS 16.1 beta 1, as that would mean iPad OS will be in beta 1 for another 2+ weeks, or iOS would be on beta 1 and iPad would be on beta 2. Apple being Apple is going to want them back on the same "track".

Yea, we’ve had a few releases that were newer builds than the RC the last couple years.

Interesting. This article suggests iOS 16 update in November, and we already know that 16.1 is coming in October. So there is possibility for 16.2 in November.

Or if the event is in mid-late October, which tracks, any hardware unveiled then may not ship until early November, which makes 16.1 in November a possibility.
