I'd be shocked if they embraced RCS messaging. iMessage is one of iPhone's killer apps and universal RCS support would negate much of the advantage Apple has maintained for years now. I know this may be a US thing, but Android messaging is a major drag. You've basically had to adopt something like What's App or Signal before this, and then had to deal with the constant issues of people who don't use a particular app--it can be a major hassle. I went to Note 9 for a couple years, and messaging was a big reason for me coming back to an iPhone.

Support for multiple users would be so nice for the iPads in the common areas.

PROGRAMMING!!!

IntelliJ requires more system ram than the A16 is rumored to have.

Docker would use the majority of system ram (meaning there's no way it could run stable in the background - so you could run a container but unless you hit it with Wifi from another device it would be a bit pointless). It also is built to use virtualization functions with aren't available on A-series chips, so you'd likely need to run everything more slowly in an emulator.

Visual Studio Code (I assume you mean Code) could run - except they made it an electron app, and and a result there's no port (or effort AFAIK) to run on iOS.

You'd be far better off asking for a touchscreen Mac with detachable keyboard if you are going to wish for things. The A series is still not a general purpose desktop/workstation chip.

I would like to see changes to Apple Maps. Am I the only one who is constantly annoyed by Apple Maps user interface? I don't like how whenever you've ended a route, it automatically brings the same route back up, which you have to close out of to search for a new route. I'm obviously done with that route, which is why I closed it, so why am I forced to close out of it again? I've moved to a new city so I'm using Apple Maps quite a bit, and find myself constantly closing out of routes I'm already done with to enter a new address.

In the Fitness app, the ability to tap anywhere along an outdoor activity track and see the distance traversed and elapsed time to that point, steps taken, current time, the instantaneous speed or pace, heart rate, geocoordinates, altitude, etc.
ugh the fitness app needs to be destroyed with fire and rebuilt from the ground up. Start with the black bg and seizure-inducing colors, the "share" function sending someone an image of a bizarre map of my route and a marketing pitch with an Apple Watch hashtag...

Mandatory sound/vibrate option for notifications in any financial app. I shouldn’t have to glance at my phone or watch to view a silent notification for a fraudulent purchase made with one of my cards when I should have been notified immediately. It’s amazing to me that purchases with the Apple Card trigger a silent notification.

The iPad reeeeaaaaaly needs multiple users. It just makes so much sense for that device. That's really the number one request for me.

My second dream feature (also for macOS): A focus mode that also disables selected email accounts to completely disconnect after work/in the weekends.
As much as I agree on the need for multiple user support on the iPad, I have a feeling it’s not possible unless Apple redo iPad OS from the ground up instead of branching it off ios. Besides, Apple probably would rather every person has his/her own iPad.

I've been asking for this since the early days of the iOS - a two page option for imported pdfs in Books.

if it can be done on the desktop, I see no reason why its can't make its way to my iPad.

I don’t think most people here want RCS. It’s kind of a mess and prone to vulnerabilities. I prefer end to end encryption.

The only thing I really want is a macOS Lite for iPad. Keep it sandboxed if you must, with deeper level system access restrictions for apps, but I want a toggle to use mouse and keyboard with a macOS-style interface. This will also bring more apps to the Mac with proper interfaces since they can be used on both. And it could bring some Mac apps to the iPad. My iPad Pro cost more than a base MacBook Air and has about the same size display. With an M1, 16GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD it’s more than capable.

The call for RCS is not for use by those with iMessage but so that we can communicate better with those who don’t use iMessage. SMS is the current method and it is worse in every way that RCS. The idea is to simply upgrade that SMS connection to RCS.

Per app/site/message thread language switching of the keyboard.

Just as the majority of iOS users I often have to switch between my native language and English. If I forget and just start typing the keyboard will really work against me.

I regularly visit English pages and have English speaking colleagues.

Now if iOS would remember that message threads between me and English John should be kept in English and automatically switch to English when I text him and then switch back to Danish when I text my wife.

It could do the same for webpages: if it’s a .com switch to English. If it’s .dk switch to Danish.

I known it’s only a single button press, but still I forget and since we’re just dreaming about infinite programming resources at Apple there’s no reason it couldn’t be done automatically

When a HomeKit alarm system is triggered it should give a more persistent notification. Like keep ringing until you turn it off. Now it gives a single notification and if you miss that you’ll get back to an empty house.

Apple Maps
Needs route planning also, multiple via points, so runners and cyclists can plan circular routes and navigate them using Apple Watch ⌚️
