How about no IOS/Mac OS releases each year going forward? How about a focus on Bug, security and performance fixes. Id rather they wait a couple years between major OS releases to build a compelling release we’d be excited by and want to use. IOS releases each year made sense in the early days of the phone when the hardware was rapidly evolving and the software lacked features (like copy/paste)

Smart Photo Storage.

You know how you're taking a picture of your kids or dog or whatever and you snap like 10 pictures to get that one good one? Then you don't delete the other nine. What if Siri or some algorithm could look at it later and say "Hey, you took ten pictures today within a minute of each other and they are all similar. Do you want to delete some to free up space?"
Burst mode already solved this problem.

How about a less buggy experience? I haven't had half as many bugs and glitches and crashes in iOS in years as I've had with this version. Which in itself is laughable because there were few meaningful new features in this latest iOS version.

Not really a software feature, but would be nice with vibration/haptic feedback. I use my iPad quite a bit for casual gaming and it would be nice to have the same haptic feedback as on the iPhone.

Agree with haptics on iPad but that requires hardware and a new iPad. Would also like a wallet app, even if I’m not going to use it for direct in person purchases it would make it easier to manage my accounts than going through the settings app.

the Files app tag system is awful. It doesn't have any autofill/predictive text feature. If you have many tags, you have to manually scroll through them.

Additionally, they have this "context search" function that simply doesn't work now. I guess they placed it there as place holder for future implementation, but this hasn't happened yet.

The quick note links don't work with any pdf.

I am honestly fed up with the Files app and I am looking for Android options.

Long time lurker on the site, but thought I'd add a few things I'd like to see

IOS

  1. The ability to manage ringtones and alerts on the phone and use MP3 as well as the current format without having to keep garage band on the phone.
  2. When a call is diverted from another number have an alert that says so. I divert my work phone to my personal one when I am on call so I'd like to know whether they are calling me directly or the on call number.
  3. Be able to store eSim details as part of our back ups
IpadOS
  1. Better use of the secondary screen option. I'd like to extend my screen not just mirror it
  2. The ability to use the sleep focus set by the phone to fire up shortcuts on the iPad (I may be using it wrongly but can't seem to be able to do this)
Both/Miscellaneous
  1. Ringtones to be archived across devices so if we set it on our phones, it automatically sets it on our iPad too.
  2. As a result of this make sure our backups of ringtones/alerts are available across devices
  3. Be able to trigger a do not disturb focus when we book an appointment into our calendars rather than have to remember to do so manually.
  4. My company uses Google for their email, update the mail app so that it has push capability for Google rather than fetch
  5. A proper rename facility for photos and files. including the option to batch rename them.
  6. Better cache management, so that we can clear it without having to resort to third party apps

Here is my highly likely list of things we will get in iOS and iPadOS 16:
  • More bugs
  • New features we don't want
  • Old reliable features screwed up beyond belief
  • Double the steps required to get half as much done
  • Rearranged menu items and settings that take forever to figure out
  • Promised features we won't actually get until 11.5 months later
  • Images of fan club members oooing and ahhhing and clapping at every stupid announcement while they drink the Apple juice down
  • And a heaping plate full of disappointments...

How about the App Store remembering last selected sorting order for reading reviews? It always reverts to 'Most Helpful', while I'd prefer to see 'Most Recent'.

I'm not sure how they determine a review is 'helpful' or not, but usually this pushes outdated reviews for previous versions of the app to the top of the stack. I just want to know if I'm going regret updating, before actually regretting updating (you know, those *squashed some bugs* being a coy way of saying *we crammed more ads into the app*).

I would recommend you stay on the OS you are on and don't update.

Messages App: When a group text is silenced, also give the user the option to prevent that silenced group from displaying notifications, or updating the total for unread messages. I only want notifications and unread message counts (the red dot) from texts/group texts I haven't silenced.

The iPad reeeeaaaaaly needs multiple users. It just makes so much sense for that device. That's really the number one request for me.

My second dream feature (also for macOS): A focus mode that also disables selected email accounts to completely disconnect after work/in the weekends.

1) Health app - charts for activities - totals instead of "averages"

2) Phone app - read/unread feature for missed calls

3) enable download in backgroud to apps (I need to stay in my maps app and keep the display on to update offline map data, it can take 30 mins of more, in which I cannot leave the app. It is annoying)

Thanks!

An easy to find physical list of what has been added, removed, or changed/modified especially- but not exclusively- as it pertains to anything in settings. It seems that frequently items I don't have to change often but after an update either isn't working the way it did or sometimes isn't functioning at all. When I search online the search defaults to 'most popular' I'll get links to older articles for that feature that may have been moved or modified in the new IOS so the most popular links are sometimes no use at all even though the explanations aren't that old.
