On the other hand, given that the second RC was released last Friday, a Tuesday release seems a little quicker. Perhaps on Thursday.
Is this the first time Apple has been late with an official release? I’m sure the French are not pleased.
Define "late" -- Apple made no announcement that the update would be out today.
I seem to recall an update for iOS 16.0.1(?) coming out around noon or 1 PM PST.

I wouldn't say the government of France lied about anything.Once again, this time wasnt just rumours. The problem here is that the French authorities lied in their public statement when they said that 17.1 would be released on October 24th. Plain and simple.
Logical Apex, your response seems to be the most logical here. Kudos.I wouldn't say the government of France lied about anything.
Obviously, Apple has to give a date to the government for compliance with the patch needed to address their RF issues. Apple can skin it a number of ways. They could be late and pay a fine, whatever that fine is, or they can release something only in France to cover the RF issues.
It was everyone else who assumed whatever the patch is for the RF issues would be included in 17.1. Apple could easily release a 17.0.3.1 with the RF fixes, for instance.
Either way, it is a software update. It will come when it comes. No need to get heartburn.

For ex, sometimes public betas come out after lunch Pacific when dev betas are in the AM.Given AM announcements, sometimes they do a 1p Pacific OS launch.

I've been doing finger exercises getting ready 🤣🤣🤣...(just kidding)The thing is, I bought my Series 9 specifically for the double pinch feature… it has been rough waiting over a month now.
Could be. Or not. Who knows? 🤷♂️I’m not sure if it was just now posted, but apple posted the Apple event page on their website for the 30th of October. Is it possible they’ll release the update during/after that event?
Considering there are many annoying bugs being fixed it's pretty easy to have heartburn.I wouldn't say the government of France lied about anything.

Except RC2 was only for the 15, so there are a whole lot of other phones who still only have the first RC.With how buggy iOS 17 has been, I would prefer Apple release it when it’s ready, maybe some last minute fixes? Maybe they’re taking time to monitor how RC2 is doing and making sure it does not introduce additional problems? I’m happy to have 17.0.3, that fixed the heat issue that literally kept me from being able to use the iPhone as a phone without overheating.
True. I was considering the phone I have, it does seem the 15 pros have had the hardest time with iOS 17 though. IMO iOS 17 was a month behind schedule and 17.1 (including all points in between) is what should have launched with the new hardware.Except RC2 was only for the 15, so there are a whole lot of other phones who still only have the first RC.
Though it's not really the same, but you can enable this feature within Accessibility option under Settings. The thing is, I bought my Series 9 specifically for the double pinch feature… it has been rough waiting over a month now.
