Hmmm....Vision Pro handyman app would be pretty nice. Tool identification, part identification...Pretty easy to think of other sorts of stuff that this type of AI would be useful for.
Very trivially obvious is all those recycling symbols, especially if paired with your location to know what you are and aren’t supposed to put in the blue bin.
Also … think of all the various screws and nuts and bolts around you that you occasionally need to tighten or loosen. The phone can measure sizes … wouldn’t it be cool if it could tell you to grab a #2 Philips screwdriver, or a 6mm socket (with a footnote that a 1/4” socket will probably do in a pinch)?
You could read the manufacturer codes on your tires and instantly know if they’re too old or if there are any open recalls.
All sorts of possibilities …

They'll call it Rosetta 3.Modern day hieroglyphics. iPhone’s the new Rosetta Stone.
"Not everyone understands English so we will invent a new language using symbols that nobody will intuitively understand" sounds about rightMaybe it's because not everyone reads/speaks English. 🤷♂️
QR codes have definite registration marks so it might be easier to track.well, phone today is capable to recognize QR codes, can measure things, so, I don't know ...
Add it to the list of the thousand other things it can do. Well worth $1200.This is the use case my £1100 space-age internet communication device has been waiting all its life for.
Was looking for someone who realised this as well. Was not disappointedThis type of feature is all being prepped for inclusion in Vision Pro and its future versions. Great moves, here.
I really am loving all of the object and information recognition features they are building into the Camera and Photo apps. These are the uses for AI that I think will prove useful for most people as a system-wide, easily accessible feature. I hope they can soon catch up with what Google Lens is currently able to do in terms of searching with an image!
Why can’t you just not use the feature? Just don’t tap the things you don’t want to use…I’d the love ability to just turn off scanning my photos. We don’t have a choice, but I just want a camera and photo storage built in an OS. Make the photo processing to enhance them and scanning photo libraries to support helpful features an opt-out option at a minimum.
I can't wait to see videos of people doing their laundry while wearing AR goggles! LOLCan’t wait to see this in visionOS.
Some might. Other manuals will just say: “depends on model” because the maker just made one manual to cover 5 years of different models in 30 different countries. Then they would have to have custom faceplates for each language. This way is cheaper. I assume the manufacturers explain the symbols in the user manual but that is usually tossed out with the box..
