Regarding that I had a funny one (which then resolved after a few seconds):

Same for me. Right after a reboot (no matter if hard reset or just regular), the CPU will be at 100% for a few minutes. I have measured that with different apps. Also it heats up like crazy (15PM). After a few minutes it will settle down, but after that it will already have chewed through 5% of battery.

No idea what it could be, I need to do some measuring with Xcode Instruments but didn't get to do that yet.
Go back to ios17 via the backup you obviously made.

You have a bad install. Go back to ios17 and wait for the final release. This will solve all your problems.

This ongoing heat issue cannot be solved on this forum with other tips. There are too many issues at play with a beta release.

The only advice that will solve your ongoing issues is to go back to ios17. No point in restating the issue 10 million times. You are an edge case.

Or, take backup now, go back to 17, log in to iCloud (to get beta access), install latest iOS 18 beta again, and see how phone is after reboot. If OK, restore backup and check again.

If restoring the backup makes it bad again, then your choices are: deal with it and hope next beta fixes it or repeat the above procedure but do not restore from backup (if you have most stuff in iCloud ready to sync).

I highly doubt that the iOS 18 RC or final will solve his problems because these versions are most likely the same as the current beta 8.
But again: no software ever will be 100% perfect.

This is because you're on a beta, and there's still extra background logging and indexing that needs to happen, especially after a reboot. Yesterday I had to take my Phone out of my pocket because it was too hot. I saw the Battery drop from around 70% to less than 50% in an hour or so. It's been fine since.

And for those saying they'll remove the Feedback app, too, nope. That's always available on all iPhones, iPads, and Macs, regardless of the build you're on. You won't see any optimizations until the RC, that's when they'll remove the extra logging and "beta stuff".

Yeah, that's not how it is though. Even if I go back to iOS 17, I'm pretty sure the same problem will show up again once I update to iOS 18 RC. So I may as well ride it out until then.

Yes, it may be an edge case, but even edge cases need to be solved. That's why I will do some troubleshooting with Xcode Instruments and reading the console logs, to see what process is going crazy. Maybe it's just a rogue app that is misbehaving in the background.

Trust me, I'm the first person to make the "it's a beta, there is extra background indexing and logging going on" statements.

Unfortunately, experiences with past betas over the past years have shown that if such an issue is still there so late in the beta cycle, they never solve it, and it will persist to the final release. I sure hope to be wrong this time.

One feature I’m GLAD they either fixed or added is haptic feedback notifications for mail (the default mail app) messages. However, I don’t know if this is a iOS 18 or watchOS 11 feature. I finally receive haptic feedback notifications on my AW and I’m always wearing it so I don’t know if the iPhone would still vibrate for mail notifications, but I assume it would. A very welcome feature/fix.

in a dilemma , I have joined the developer programme but reverted back to iOS 17 and no longer want to receive iOS 18 updates and turned the toggle off but is there any way to remove it entirely or leave the programme as I can't find a option anywhere and as I a registered as a free developer some pages are locked and don't really want to pay 100 dollars to access pages if I am going to leave anyway .
any advice thanks

AFAIK, you cannot "leave" the program - it's free and you can just stop participating ... just turn the beta updates off and Bob's your uncle.

You could change your AppleID email address that would in theory lose the option if your developer account is on a different email address and vice versa

Uhhh I’m not so sure eh? I changed my Apple ID email in the past, and I’m still getting the options in Settings -> information -> updates, and I’m even allowed to enter the Dev portal to download the beta IPSWs.

@iPod2001 as far as I know, being on the dev beta program doesn’t mean you have to pay the fee.

They FINALLY fixed a pretty big security flaw in DB 8. Only saw it happening in Safari but basically if Face ID failed for autofill/password info and you tapped "Cancel", and then filled the password again, it would autofill your login credentials without requiring a passcode or Face ID. Looks like it's finally fixed in this beta and I can use Safari again.
I reported it every time as was shocked when it wasn’t patched. Finally it’s done. ✅

I found that my usb c cable original from apple which was included with my 15 Pro Max buy, is the problem with heating up that heavy when charging!
Took another usb c - usb c cable from apple from a iPad and it’s cool like ice when charging !
Needs a bit more testing with adapters from apple, but I think I find finally a solution.

Heat, when using, still exists sadly !

Thanks, I didn't see the Auto option for the icons, already setted that. Will look how it works now. It's strange too because I don't remember changing anything related to that config, maybe in the update the Icons setup changed to default or something like that.
Regardless, thanks for the help.
The icon coloring option always reverts to light for me with every update, maybe you’re experiencing the same.

My keyboard feels pretty laggy on this beta. Making typing errors 99% of the time. Really maddening.

Yeah, Apple cables are notoriously cheap and poorly made 😜
