To hop on the train? or not? lol... That is the question
… what new features does it have?

If it’s just a bunch of minor bug fixes, I might pass.

But I’m not going to sacrifice my battery life! 26 beta testing before 26.0 is a whole different kettle of fish than .1x updates unless it means:

* It’s bringing an existing feature to more devices that didn’t have it before, like when it was iOS 18, visual intelligence on 15 pros.
* There are significant changes to the interface or features.
* Battery life gets a boost.

I generally like Liquid Glass, but it isn't a design concept that works across the whole OS. In Photos and Music, it looks great, because there is often colorful content. But in Mail and Safari and Notes and many other apps, you're frequently looking at white-on-white, with no contrast. Apps like Music are the concept. Apps like Mail are the reality. And it's concerning that the design principles won out in the end, even though they don't work as well in all apps.

Can anyone get this damn setting to stick regardless of whether your device is in dark or light mode? I try to have this enabled all the time while in light mode and it reverts back right away.

The half sun is how I keep mine. Just tested it. Not much difference either way. The screen may be slightly darker with the half sun. It used to be a big difference before iOS 26. Not so much now on mine. Mine is set on the dark mode option.

I don’t seem to be able to change my My Card avatar and poster and make it stick.

Don't know if this has been mentioned. They removed the border lines around the folders and widgets on the homescreen. The widgets have a little at the top. Here's a before and after. Everything was set the same. Same wallpaper. Same home screen customization.
I'm seeing the opposite. The CarPlay Dashboard screen has lines around each of the windows - the icons, the map and the others. And the notifications have line around each of those, as well. Not a fan.

Anyone who's running beta 1, can you test something for me, please? Here's my original post, which gives you the setup and info.. Basically, just need someone who is 1) running the beta, and 2) has a mDL on their watch (also on the beta) to see if you can access the "Card Details" of the mDL on the watch and see your personal information, or if it's still locked behind the dreaded "Unlock iPhone with Face ID" message.

I recently upgraded to the iPhone 17 Pro Max and encountered an issue with the California Mobile Driver's License (mDL) on my Apple Watch.

I've had my CA mDL on both my iPhone and Apple Watch without issues since California first supported it. However, after upgrading to the new phone, I had to re-add the mDL to my iPhone. Because the Apple Watch syncs the mDL from the paired iPhone, I had to delete and re-add the license on my watch as well.

The problem I'm facing now is:
  • The mDL functions perfectly on my iPhone.
  • On my Apple Watch, the mDL constantly prompts me to unlock my iPhone using Face ID to validate my identity. Despite repeatedly unlocking the iPhone, rebooting both devices, and even completely unpairing and restoring the watch, the watch still does not recognize the license as unlocked.

Been on the beta's since end of July, no real complaints from me. No bugs that bothered me.

But today on my first day of 26.1 my phone kept vibrating after I answered a call, and my phone also decided to blow past my 85% charge limit.

Odd bugs that do annoy me.

I am running the latest beta 26.1 and have mDL on the iPhone and watch and it is working as intended when looking at the personal info. On the watch it will ask to enter the passcode and then displays the personal info. Did not do any re-install as I am on an iPhone 16 Pro. So functionality is there, seems something went wrong when setting mDL up on the watch ...

Spotlight in 26.1 beta 1 is sluggish. Sadly, the "bug" where it shows Files results, despite the Files app even being uninstalled... is still there.

Also is it just me, or are tapbacks in Messages just so freakin' slow now, by the time the animation takes place I would usually have already tapped on it. I wish they'd make it so I could tap, and move and choose the emoji I want.. now I have to tap, hold down, wait until animation is done, move finger, tap.

Interesting.. My issue is that it keeps telling me to unlock the iphone with Face ID before it'll let me enter the passcode on the watch to unlock it. It's also doing it with my wife's phone/watch.

Did you notice if it worked for you after upgrading to io26.0 but before installing 26.1 beta?
