I tried my iPhone 16 Pro Max in my car and it's still causing my head unit to reboot. I tried my iPhone in my wife's car and am still having an issue there, too. I've tested an iPhone 16e in my car on the 26.2 RC that worked prior on 26.1, and that's causing my head unit to reboot. Updated to the official 26.2 release and it's still causing an issue. I tried my wife's iPhone 14 Pro in my car before updating to iOS 26.2, so she's still on 26.1, making sure her iPhone isn't listed in my stereo's settings, and it still works just fine! So, yes, I know different cable- but I did even buy a new cable...

We then updated my wife's iPhone from 26.1 to 26.2 and now her iPhone is causing my head unit to reboot. It also doesn't work in her CrossTrek, although there it's just occasionally making that buzzing feeling as if it's connected to something that can charge it.. But it never ends up charging it.

There have been no updates for my car's stereo. My wife and I both have 7 year old cars bought new and this has worked the entire time we've owned these car over the entire 7 years. So Apple has effectively made a main feature of our cars now obsolete, and just a couple weeks before Christmas. Thanks! If this is some part of a master plan to get us to buy new cars, think again!

Now to worry about whether it's worth it to go and buy a wireless dongle to try and connect that way. I feel like I've exhausted all other options at this point, including resetting my stereo.
I would buy a wireless dongle. They’re inexpensive and work well. Make sure you check the reviews..my wife’s CRV worked everything on the first purchase. My Toyota took a few returns before finding one that worked 100%.

Hello,
I'm still using iOS 18 on my iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Are there any people who are satisfied with iOS 26.2 on this iPhone?
We're talking about CarPlay: is it really faulty on iOS 26.2?
Thank you.
CarPlay does not work for 3 different model iPhones in 2 different cars using 3 different cables.
Your Mileage may vary, though...

My Feedback is still open with Apple. Seems like the common theme is that if you have a shiny new iPhone 17 of some kind, you're good. Otherwise CarPlay may have been fixed in the latest official 26.2 release. Not here, though...

I held onto 18.XX as long as I could - however, my wife and I woke up Friday morning and our phones updated to 26.1…then I moved to 26.2 yesterday. I kept denying the update then it “happened”.

Anyway, I have to be honest, really am liking all the new functions and looks so far. I’m still getting used to it but it’s not the horror it was made out to be, at least for me.
No stuttering, it’s smooth, I like the animations, etc.

Battery life needs yet to be determined but so far it’s on par with 18.xx that I had…seems slightly worse but not bad.

I’m on a 16 pro max

Not happy. Woke up to all sorts of stutters here on there on my 17 Pro. When unlocking and swiping up, stutters and swiping to close apps to Home Screen + keyboard lag and stutters! Will do another hard reset and I’m going to turn off adaptive power mode.
Yeah manually turn off your phone for 3 minutes and then turn it back on and turn off Adaptive Power mode.

Thanks 😉
The reason CarPlay can be hit or miss may be due to them removing the "drivers" or support for older cars. This has happened years ago during the beta process and sometimes has happened with macOS removing drivers for things like Docking Stations and stuff.. Ultimately, though, it's still back on Apple to add this support back. My 2018 Chevy Impala is still listed as being supported on their page, so IMO they need to address the issue I'm having ASAP. But, you know how that goes. I'll be adding .mp3 files to a USB stick again like some kind of caveman.

I've been updating FB21062288 if it matters (screams into the endless void)

After updating to 26.2, all but a couple of my iOS Shortcuts have been deleted (out of at least two dozen). Syncing to iCloud has always been enabled. Bummed…lots of customization gone.

I’ve noticed that I’m back to being unable to swipe out of a picture in the Messages app. I’m having to tap it to see the X and then tap the X. This was happening during the 26.2 betas and was fixed in the RC for me. Happening again. A reboot seems to fix it, until it happens again.

That glitch is something that’s so glaringly obvious that I can’t fathom having to provide feedback to get it fixed, but clearly you’re right. Pretty sad on Apple’s part because there’s no way that Apple employees who use the Mail app haven’t seen that bug. Guess it’s just not a priority.
My guess is there are so many technical/infrastructure bugs that need squashing that the cosmetic bugs are a low priority.

Recreating the shortcuts but also created an iOS shortcut to automatically back up weekly to the Files app.

CarPlay (wired) has worked fine in our 2021 Renault on iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 15 and iPhone 17 with all iOS 26 versions.

Are these your Safari Shortcuts that got wiped? Did you make a full iPhone backup on your Mac? Just restore from backup 💻
Nope. They are the shortcuts (not bookmarks) I created in the Shortcuts app over the past 10 years. I only have an iPhone, no Mac. It’s OK though. I recreated the ones I remember using a lot, didn’t bring back the rest. If I need them later, I’ll recreate them then. My new “backup shortcuts” shortcut works well.

I'm seeing no improvements to any of my reported issues across iOS and macOS. Each beta and RC and subsequently official release, have all degraded in performance overall as time has passed. I can honestly say these latest releases, to me anyway, are worse than the iOS 7 betas and iOS 11 betas. There's been some real clunkers out there, but taking away CarPlay for 3 different model iPhones in 2 different model cars right before Christmas is a huge bummer in this house.
You may want to try a wireless dongle just for kicks. They are relatively inexpensive now (the one I linked to you was $99 last year and dropped to $49 for some sale now is like $37 on sale). I get that this is on Apple to resolve but for $37 you can possibly save Christmas :). All joking aside, the convenience of wireless is worth the $40. I did it just for that reason and never looked back since my car is wired only.

[Edit] I just saw your post that you did already saved Christmas! Hope they work out for you.

UI lag when swiping between screens are fixed, especially from the widget screen to home. Nice one. iPhone 16 pro.

Will be interesting to see if it's fixed on "lower end" devices such as the iPad 9. Will update them later.
