I’ve only ever used phone directly. Famous last words 😁 I’ve had no issues other than the odd bug if updating to betas. Is it smoother to update via Finder or directly on the phone itself?
26.2 is not out... YET. It tends to be 10AM PST in the US, add some time for server propagation.. But then there's been the afternoon release, too.. Who knows. The update hasn't arrived in Türkiye.
Will it definitely be released today? Or will it be postponed to another time?26.2 is not out... YET. It tends to be 10AM PST in the US, add some time for server propagation.. But then there's been the afternoon release, too.. Who knows.
No one has said it’s been postponed, and only Apple knows when it will be released. Will it definitely be released today? Or will it be postponed to another time?

I think so tooI have a feeling that it won't be released today.
You have to enable Prefer Cross-Fade Transitions in addition to Reduce Motion, but then you’ll get this visual bug 🙄 I reported it some betas ago but it’s still thereIn RC2, if I enabled "Reduced Motion", many UI controls like Safari menu and Mail menu still have animation. Anyone has this issue?
This is exactly what I’m experiencing which is not a problem in iOS 26.1You have to enable Prefer Cross-Fade Transitions in addition to Reduce Motion, but then you’ll get this visual bug 🙄 I reported it some betas ago but it’s still there
You should really stop using the same cable for iphones 14 and 16's if you really do that I'm surprised you 16's ever worked 😄🙄So, just to be clear as to what's happening in our house---
iPhone 16 Pro Max— When connected to my 2018 Chevy Impala, after roughly 45 Seconds of having the CarPlay screen displayed, the entire Car Stereo head unit screen goes black and basically looks like it’s restarting, with everything on the MyLink display slowly coming back on again, and eventually reconnecting to CarPlay. Then after about 45 Seconds, the same thing happens. I’ve let this continue happening for roughly 15-20 minutes while driving and lost count how many times this happened again and again and again…
iPhone 16e— The same exact issues as with the iPhone 16 Pro Max. This is my daughter’s iPhone that was on iOS 26.1 and when initially connected, it WORKED FINE. While we sat in my car in the garage, we updated to the iOS 26.2 RC and then when connected to the same car using the same cable that just worked, it is now causing this SAME exact issue.
iPhone 14 Pro— This iPhone is still on iOS 26.1 and is still working just fine using the same cable in the same car.
We’ve also tried these same phones in a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek and the iPhone 14 Pro still works just fine. The iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 16e do NOT.
For fun, we did try using a New cable (the one that works for my wife in her Crosstrek) and there is no change.

In total, I've tried 3 different cables. My Stereo's settings don't show my iPhone anywhere. I've never paired it with BlueTooth, and it's not listed as an option to forget on my Stereo head unit.. Most likely because I've never paired it with BlueTooth. You should really stop using the same cable for iphones 14 and 16's if you really do that I'm surprised you 16's ever worked 😄🙄
Even if you don't use bluetooth just CarPlay the headunit will still save a profil for your phone you should try to delete when you delete the car from your phone.
Since CarPlay issues are listed as open and having more than 10 recent similar reports in the Apple Feedback app, I'm pretty comfortable with this being an issue caused by Apple and not one-offs with specific hardware. Nothing I've done to troubleshoot and remedy has helped on head units that worked flawlessly for years up through iOS 18 and associated radio firmwares. Plus, if my specific phone was unable to connect stably with any CarPlay head unit, I would suspect the phone and get it replaced. My experience varies between head units, some work perfectly, others lose connection consistently. In total, I've tried 3 different cables. My Stereo's settings don't show my iPhone anywhere. Thanks, mine's worked flawlessly for the last 7 years in the same car up until this last 3+ weeks or so. FWIW, I filed FB21062288 and it's still showing zero other's reported like it. I've included a bunch of logging and stuff, too.Since CarPlay issues are listed as open and having more than 10 recent similar reports in the Apple Feedback app, I'm pretty comfortable with this being an issue caused by Apple and not one-offs with specific hardware. I'm not saying there aren't some folks with faulty cables, bad radios in their phones, and/or head units that are flaky. It just seems like Apple destabilized something in iOS 26.x if many folks are having issues where none existed before.
I've filed two with sysdiagnose logs. One on Nov 1, FB20889749, and another on Nov 17, FB21069042. Both indicate open and more than 10 recent similar reports. I've experienced instability with wireless connections and a stable wired connection, whereas I know you're having troubles with wired. I have no guess whether they're even the same issue beyond CarPlay problems. Thanks, mine's worked flawlessly for the last 7 years in the same car up until this last 3+ weeks or so. iPhone 14 has a lighting connector iPhone 16 usb-c so find it hard to believe they ever worked with the same cable 🙄In total, I've tried 3 different cables. I guess you’ve tried a different cable and verified that your USB while locked settings aren’t blocking you?I have. There's no reference of my phone at all anywhere in my Stereo's settings. No BlueTooth pairing, because I've been using wired CarPlay. No need to pair with BT.
The cable I used with my old iPhone 14 Pro Max is now being used by my wife’s 14 Pro. I’m now using a Beats cable for my 16 Pro Max. Why is this so hard to believe?? Geesh.iPhone 14 has a lighting connector iPhone 16 usb-c so find it hard to believe they ever worked with the same cable 🙄
All cars that I have owned with CarPlay 3 different brands, have saved the CarPlay connection without pairing with bluetooth.
Maybe just downgrade to 26.1 while you still can, and wait on apple to fix things
Yes I have…I guess you’ve tried a different cable and verified that your USB while locked settings aren’t blocking you?
But you claim to connect a 16pro 16e and 14pro with the same cable and only the 14 works 🙄The cable I used with my old iPhone 14 Pro Max is now being used by my wife’s 14 Pro. I’m now using a Beats cable for my 16 Pro Max. Why is this so hard to believe?? Geesh.
If you’re really following along, you’d have found your nitpicky answer in one of the other posts. Please stop trying to diminish an issue I’m having for whatever reason you find you need to.But you claim to connect a 16pro 16e and 14pro with the same cable and only the 14 works 🙄
In your case I would be interested to see if it works wirelessly (with an adapter since yours does not support wireless). The idea mentioned that it could be some driver issue with USB-C may be the deal. However, it seems the 17 series have had CarPlay issues since release. But of course they ALL run iOS 26 too so there that. Hopefully you can get something sorted soon. Thanks! The only consistency I've noticed is that the recent 26.2 betas and RCs have helped the 17 models, but folks with earlier models still randomly having issues. It's almost as if they removed the drivers for all these different cars and now need to add them back. This has happened with macOS updates and the removal of drivers for Docking Stations and stuff.. Then it gets "fixed" in a later update when they include those drivers again.
