Does 26.3b1 have the same great battery life as the final 26.2? Wanting to make sure before I update, or if I should hold off.
You’re always going to have poorer battery life in a beta release as opposed to an official release, regardless of any battery optimizations that they may be working on. There’s extra logging happening on a beta that otherwise doesn’t happen. That alone makes it inferior, battery-wise.

I just wish they'd let us stay on iOS 18 this year. It sounds like there will be no 18.7.3 general release for iPhones that can't run 26, and they're trying to push people to upgrade to 26 for security reasons.

Like, can they acknowledge they made some wrong decisions and just let us stay put until iOS 27? I'm pretty much 100% happy with iOS 18 and 26 doesn't provide any upsides to upgrading, only downsides.
I don’t know. I held off as long as possible on my 16 pro max and now I like it better thank 18.7….great battery life, I can modify the UI in many new ways, its runs smooth, no problems so far. Pleasantly surprised!!

Thanks, so far the Wireless Adapter I got is working fine. I've tried forgetting my Phone from the Stereo Settings and Forgetting the Car in CarPlay Settings and then waited over 24 hours before trying again. I used a different/new cable. I've tried 4 different model iPhones in 3 different cars (all 7+ years old)..

All I can do at this point is let Apple try and sort it out, but I'm living as though this page isn't accurate. I have a 2018 Chevy Impala, and it says they support Wired CarPlay... :) I'm saying they do not.

I will have to try wired in my car. Ever since I found a way to go wireless, I haven't gone back. I would say less clutter or wires, but I still have a power wire to my wireless magsafe holder, but it is run in a way that provides less clutter.

The good thing about no wire is I don't have to charge my phone the entire drive (I tend to drive long distances), and it allows me to let the battery wear down without the constant charge going. I will try wired and see what happens on mine.

Absolutely. They really should stop strong arming people onto iOS 26 when for sizeable majority it sounds to be a disaster. Just debating myself whether to install the beta to get iOS 18.7.3.

I know I'm just me, but despite some glitches, I cannot find any issues that might qualify the release in any way as "a disaster," certainly not for a majority. And nothing I've read here would support that generalization either. Rarely hear of any bricking, any apps simply not working, slow performances, significant change in battery drain, etc. App redraws, anyone? Not exactly the stuff of a disaster.

That's not how Apple sees it:

It’s the illusion of commonality here because people seek out forums like this to discuss issues. If everybody came in on the regular to report things working as they should it would be a very different picture.

Well even on this own forum you can find plenty of people regretting upgrading to iOS 26 because of the issues it has caused.

For me it was the way Safari screwed up so many websites I visit. They improved it in 26.1 but haven’t completely fixed it. If you don’t visit the same websites as me then that particular bug will have passed you by. I regretted upgrading to 26.0 because it really was that frustrating.

Chances on getting 26.3 beta 2 Monday?

There’s no notice in the feedback app about the development teams being out of the office (like there typically is and was for the US thanksgiving holiday week).

Also, Apple released a new Safari Technology Preview Friday (yesterday) which contains a large number of fixes including a Promotion performance enhancement, “Added support for Threaded Scroll-driven Animations. With Threaded Scroll-driven Animations, eligible scroll-driven animations are updated as their associated timeline’s source element is scrolled instead of when the page rendering is updated, yielding smoother animations on devices with Pro Motion displays. Additionally, since scrolling is performed in a separate process, those animations update as scrolling occurs no matter the load on the main thread. Eligible animations are any scroll-driven animations animating the opacity, transform, translate, scale, rotate, filter, backdrop-filter or any of the Motion Path properties.”

You have to be crazy to install a beta software to your watch.
my beta 3 on my iPhone 13 and watch are flawless. Sorry to hear ya'll have such crazy issues. When ever I upgrade to a new beta say from Sequoia to now 26, I'll update but then do a fresh clean install, format everything and set up as a new machine, then install everything. It's always been a much smoother go.
