I am surprised that many of you are surprised:
1- the real Apple, the Steve Jobs Apple, died with him
2- Tim is only milking the cow with no innovation in the last 10 years
3- Apple is 5 years behind OpenAi and Microsoft in AI (Real AI)
4- Liquid glass is just a poor distraction from their lack of creativity and innovation
I mentioned this earlier, but the Tim Cook Apple is definitely not the same as the Jobs Apple. Which is fine, to a point – they are different people, after all. I think the "milking the cow/no innovation" stuff is a bit much, though. A company's deeply lucky if they introduce something as society and technology-changing as the iPhone.

I mean, they released the frigging Apple Watch four years after Jobs died. So there's a whole other batch of innovation. And whether you think the Vision Pro is a good product, there's a crap ton of innovation there, too.

I think when people say Apple isn't innovating, it's because they're not innovating in a way that directly benefits that person. But if you step back and look at Apple's achievements since Jobs died, it's hard to justify this "no more innovation/money grabbing" perspective.

Same here

I think that only happens when using the glass icons not the standard or dark ones. I actually like the dark icons myself and don't use the tinted or clear ones .

I don't think that's a bug. More like the design they have chosen to look like glass icons. I actually like the effect myself. Its been that way from the start so I believe its intentional and will not be "fixed" since its not actually broken. Sorry
The fact that the icon outline pop in doesn’t happen with clear icons tells me it’s a bug.

Clear icons draw with the outline, even though it may be disoriented from the angle you are holding your phone, it orients itself after the icon settles. Looks WAY better than the outline just popping in.

I’m in the “it’s a bug camp”. There’s no way that behavior is intentional. Though part of me does hate to think that something so glaringly obvious was overlooked for so long.

There are a million visual bugs still present in iOS 26, but here’s another that’s been around for the last several betas that I haven’t seen discussed here… the word “social” shrinks a bit when opening the “Social” folder from the App Library…

Has anyone seen on recent betas when coming off a WiFi network, the iPhone refuses to use the cellular network for data? When leaving work, I have to toggle airplane mode for data to start working :-(

Haven’t seen that anywhere in iOS 26 dev betas.

Hmmm this one doesn’t happen for me. A very similar one I’ve noticed is if you have the text size set to anything but the default, in Apple music when you minimize the now playing screen to the bottom, the text jumps between the different sizes just like this

I will ask again: WHAT DID THEY CHANGE?
Here’s one thing I know they changed: The keyboard did not fit properly in the bottom left and right corners on the previous beta. The radius was different than the radius of the phone (14 Plus for me). You could see this the easiest in Messages with a background set for one of your conversations, like sky or water. Previously you could see the background poking out around the keyboard in those corners, but not anymore. So I know they fixed “some stuff”

Edit - Idk what happened, but now it’s broken again ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If so, then why does it look completely different with transparent icons or with folders? The shiny outline is smoothly animated with the app-icon itself and does not pop in at the end of the animation like it does with „normal“ or dark icons.

In the last beta on, for whatever reason, the volume on my Apple Watches (series 4 & 8) goes down to zero, neither watch is on the beta. Not sure what causes it. Hope this one fixes that issue. Also hope that it fixes the terrible battery drain, which was noticeably worse on my 16PM. Somehow, the battery was excellent on my 12PM last beta. Hope that continues.

Liquid frost glass still. Beta 6 had it perfect. Not too much glass like beta 1 that made it unreadable in certain scenarios, but not as frosted as now. Le sigh. I don’t have the icon draw-in issue like others do though.

Things I’m hoping to see with my 16 Pro with this new beta are battery life and thermal management improvements.

Off to a good start as plugged into an Apple 30w charger now and it’s nowhere near as warm as it has been while using it during charging. Will see how it performs in my usual day to day stuff today.

I’ve also noticed there aren’t the same visual flickers since installing public beta 6.

Not expecting anymore design changes at this stage, thankfully I love the new look of iOS 26.

There’s an issue with device output volume control at the lowest levels. When watching a YouTube video, movie, or podcast, the volume—even at the minimum visible setting—is still very loud on iPhone or iPad speakers.

In previous versions, this was fine-tuned: you could adjust the volume to an almost silent level. Now, with this beta, there’s a big jump from silence to loud, with nothing in between.

This problem only affects the built-in speakers. When using headphones, volume adjustment works normally, and there’s plenty of headroom to make it very quiet.

Anyone else?

Switching back to Settings from another app causes app icons to switch between light/dark appearance…lots of visual bugs in iOS 26 seem to relate to light/dark appearance. Still getting bug wherein keyboard briefly contracts in width upon invoking as well, and had a new one today where Music audio completely cut out over wired EarPods upon pausing and then resuming via the in-line mic button

26 is shaping up to be yet another hot mess release from our friends in Cupertino o_O

Is anyone else having this issue with the Phone App?

I have cleared the unknown calls list but I am still showing a one in the corner and have for the last two betas. Anyone got any idea how to clear it?

That
Tim's era saw the return of blessed ports, the iPhone X, Apple silicon and a Sony-esque 'cool **** for the hell of it product' Vision Pro. That's a LOT of stuff that shook up the industry. The M4 Mac Mini is the greatest desktop computer ever made.

Is Apple behind in AI? Clearly LLMs caught them off guard but I think they're guarded entry is the right one. Instead of an internet search engine they built Spotlight which is a lot more useful. Licencing a 3rd party product as they do with search makes a lot more sense than building their own LLM.

Is there a lack of creativity and innovation? From the point of view of the annual update things move slowly but most people upgrade every 3-4 years at which point they have a snowball of features. The leap from a 12 to a 16 was quite large.

It’s running fine, but this update has rendered Face ID effectively useless for me with how often it asks for my passcode. Put the phone down for 5 minutes and there’s a 75% chance it’ll need a password. It’s infuriating to the point of wanting to disable both until fixed.
