iOS 26 Beta Reveals Apple Watch Ultra 3 Display Size

Will be upgrading from my AW1
Its nice but the amount of times it goes gaga during my runs by not counting the distance properly during my hiit intervals causing to not properly measure my pace or like a few months ago saying I ran off track during the end of a 10k run when I’m running giving my all out to have a PR is ****ing annoying. The thought of running over the watch with my car was heavy on my mind after that 10k.
Time for an upgrade

Not super on topic, but the OG iphone had a 320x480 resolution which people used to browse "desktop" websites long before mobile optimization was commonplace. With that context, today's tech is both amazing and disappointing. Feels like we were doing more with less back then.

I have seen similar anomalies (fortunately infrequently) with my AWU1 but assumed, perhaps incorrectly, that they were software related and therefore would not be changed by newer AW hardware. Hmm...

Already I am considering the AWU3 if brightness is substantially improved as rumored. And the satellite connectivity sounds worthy too.

I own an Apple Watch Ultra 2, but I might consider upgrading it if it can consistently monitor blood pressure. If the tech can match the capabilities of an arm monitor, I would be more than willing to purchase an Apple Watch Ultra 3.

Aint gonna happen, thats not what the Ultra is made for. Just look what Apple is doing ads for, like people climbing mount Everest and stuff.
IMO a little slimmer second version for smaller wrists need not lose the Mt. Everest climber marketing effort. Just like Seiko makes great heavy-duty dive watches in small as well as large sizes.

I'm thinking maybe because of the internet connection. Which this having Satellite connectivity and 5G+ could maybe help

if the my can slim it down, meaning make the internals smaller, I’d rather them keep the same form factor and size and make the battery larger and increase battery life.

Do the same for the phones. Increase the thickness to eliminate the camera bump and increase battery size.

My guess is that yes, Apple could make "Ultra in a slightly smaller case size." Small Seiko dive watches have been made for years, and my guess is that an Ultra could indeed be made in a slightly smaller case size.
Can you actually compare those kinds of watches with smartwatches like the Apple Watch? I once read an article explaining why Apple Watches have nowhere near as good battery life as other watches and it came down to the fact the Apple Watch has way more sensors turned on compared to the other "smartwatches" meaning you're comparing apples with oranges. So I don't know those Seiko watches, but I presume this might be the case here.

Apple is totally lost in the watch market and doesn’t know what to do. Shrinking the bezels is just another way for them to claim this model as “new.”
Shrinking bezels always makes a device look more modern. I'm all for it. Although I just got the Series 10 Titanium, I'm hoping they'll hold off for another year before removing the huge bezels on the Series 10. If they do it in the 11, I'll be jealous as it's the one thing I don't love on the Series 10, although I don't notice it much with most watch faces.

Please don't bring logic into the conversation.

"You know Garmin has two weeks battery life...TWO Weeks"
Three weeks does my fenix 8. Coming from a regular aw it feels deliberating to see that I have 2 days left with only 7% of battery life.

My major reason to jump to Garmin was battery life. The aw could not complete an all day hike without dying on me and I found myself multiple times having to wait for the watch to charge before I could make a run. It took some time to get used to but with the Garmin this never the case.

In defense of the Apple Watch, the aw is much more intuitive and customizable out of the box then the Garmin. Eg I’m after 2 months still figuring out how to get decent and accurate weather info on my watchface.

Thinner bezels on an Ultra is not something I am looking for.

Earlier this summer I took a line drive with a bad hop off of my wrist that partially clipped the watch with more damage to my body than the watch. If I was asking for a redesign, I'd be asking for something slimmer. The size of the watch face is fine.

If no bloodOX I'll wait till they bring it back or my AWU2 stops working.
This.

I'd love to upgrade and pass my Ultimate 2 who covets it but won't spend the money, but only if there's a reason to upgrade, and a oxygen sensor is the main one I'm hoping for.

No, they did not. What they did was change the ratio of glass bezel vs. metal bezel.

Call.it whatever you want but the bezel are larger on the series 10 than they were on the 9.

Lost? Apple jumped into watches and now sells more watches than all of Switzerland. And personally I love the AWU1 as is, so any imporvements are just icing on an already excellent cake.

They are lost from a design standpoint. It doesn't mean they don't make a good watch, they do. They just don't know how to redesign it or make it any different than every other year.

You want change for change‘s sake? The big „re-design“ was the Ultra, it‘s just that they made that an additional model. There is only so much you can re-design about a rounded square.

I know I was being facetious. Seriously, that is what people are complaining about and expecting.
My apology then, I didn't realize you didn't mean that. Yeah, it's crazy though that few Garmin models with that kind of experience cost 3-5x of an AW Ultra. All that for connected wrist watch with limited lifespan. Yeah sure, I'd understand if it's an analogue tourbillon timepiece for watch collectors.

But a disposable wrist computer? I'd stay with AW Ultra for sure.

I understand and get what you're asking for...
What might not work in favor of a smaller case is the 100m water resistance rating, there's a lot of pressure the watch is exposed to, thus the case size. Also, I am not aware of "small" dive watches though I could be wrong about that.
Always, 5 or so more weeks and we'll have facts ...

They could make the 46mm with a lower 50m water resistance rating and 100m for the larger 51mm. :p

Yes, we’ll know shortly, but honestly, I don’t have high expectations for a major overhaul.

The Seikos are just dive watches. My point was simply that from a marketing standpoint having a smaller version makes sense, and it seems to me that it is possible.

if it were 50m water resistance, they couldn't market is for recreational scuba anymore ...
IF they are offering a smaller size, it'll have the same specs.

Since they skipped a year for the Ultra, they better have something significant ...

What are you talking about? Apple leads the smartwatch market with 21% of sales. Next closest brand is Huawei at 14%. When have you seen a Huawei watch outside of China?
