iOS 26 Speculation Thread

26b1 may be laggy, drain my battery like it sprung a leak and make my phone so hot I could fry an egg on it. But it’s at least more stable than 18.5

Mine wasn’t stable at all and I went back to 18.5 and it’s way better now on my 15 PM.
Which iPhone you got?

I’m on the 14PM, unfortunately one of the phones that did not get an updated build the other day. I am unwilling to do a restore so good or bad, if I jump on a beta train I am committed to ride it out till the end. Thankfully as of right now it is pretty okay and managable enough for me, but I would very much like for the Safari background tab bug to get patched since that does legitimately impact my day to day regular use of the device

Would be good too because my iPhone 16 Pro keeps getting hot but I’m ok with it but just want beta 2. Also would like Numbers row on Apple keyboard. Not hard Apple!

They’re presenting custom wallpapers in the message app as a brand new feature… it is hard :D
 
Which may be coming up. Had a chat 💬 with my Apple fan friend and he tested iPadOS 26 on his iPad Pro M4, we hope beta 2 addresses all these heat issues.

So we’re expecting next Monday or Tuesday for the new beta. I tink I remember there have been 3 weeks between beta 1 and 2 previously, but that wasn’t the case with iOS 18 and certainly hope it isn’t for 26

I think it’s safe to assume we may see an update on Monday the 23rd, and if not then on Tuesday.

I would also strongly suggest that everyone keep their downloaded .ipsw of each build. Apple signs each build thru the entire beta process, so if something happens on, say, beta 3, you can just “update” back by pressing Option+Check for Update and then browse to one of the prior betas.

You may miss out on something new that’s introduced, but if a prior beta is more stable, it’s sometimes easier than dealing with some issue with an app you need, at least until the next beta comes out.

I've found the iOS and iPadOS 26 betas very smooth personally, so I will not be waiting for a beta drop with my finger hovering over the screen to update to beta 2 immediately.

Instead I'll hold out and wait for reports from you guys that it seems good to go before I do! 😆

They can often get buggier before they get better as the beta cycle progresses!

I find it too smooth on my iPhone 16 Pro but sometimes not all the time I get my screen changes colour from glass mode to dark mode. So I’ll definitely be pressing the update button sorry mate!!
