iOS 27 Beta 1 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

OK, so I completed the Siri AI waitlist. It is my understanding that Siri AI uses Gemini. But, I see this Chatgpt Extension menu item under Siri. If this is enabled, does Siri use Gemini AND Chatgpt, or does it replace Gemini with Chatgpt?

That‘s an older feature where complex queries could be handed off to ChatGPT.

Yeah, that's wishful thinking. As a software engineer in a huge company you're paid to do exactly what management says. And if their priority is "ship new features, screw old bugs", that's what you do.

I get that, I'm not expecting the utopia of updates, but I imagine they themselves saw the glaring bugs when using the products themselves. When it comes to iPadOS specifically, a-lot of the OS 26 bugs were overtly obvious, even management would have seen it with general use.

Hopefully OS 27 allows everyone to have short-term memory of 26 and focus on the future.

I'm in Spain and by changing the region to US and language to English I was able to access the waitlist on macOS, but not on iOS 🙁

macOS has no EU gatekeeper limitation so new Siri will just work like that.

It seems that way. I just installed the new IOS27, and basically nothing they demonstrated today actually works.

Surprisingly solid. This is not a recommendation to yolo your only phone.

I have the pleasure of working at a large company, and I see how they prioritize things. It's sometimes beyond belief... and I can imagine developers can get quite frustrated at Apple when they're not allowed to fix those bugs.

I hope this will change now.

First impressions of personal context are very good. I just asked it who out of my friends I’ve spoken to most in the last week and it told me based on messages and phone calls.

I then asked what my mum said we would be doing on Wednesday and it told me a blow by blow account based on various text messages she sent me this week.

Impressed.

It seems that way. I just installed the new IOS27, and basically nothing they demonstrated today actually works.

It will take awhile for your phone to properly re-index so contextual Siri knows more about you. Check in Settings and you should see "Indexing in Progress".

Mail and Messages also need time.

I got rid of it by going into my iCloud settings and syncing messages.

I don't understand why you say iOS 26 is bad. On my iPhone 17 Pro Max, iOS 26.5 is very stable, no bugs, and the phone doesn't overheat.
