My 17 Pro (with half the SSD still free) is still indexing after 17 hours. I've had it on the charger for about 8 of these hours. I'm a little bit surprised it is taking this long. It's not a big deal, just surprising (to me anyway).

My M5 Max Mac didn't have the Indexing message on at all. I've read the same thing from other MacOS users. I think that with MacOS they did the indexing differently.

Anyone else never seen the indexing indication in settings? On iPhone Air at least

Edit: I am noticing when I search in Messages or Mail it says it's organizing content or indexing messages...

WARNING!!!

Do not update your iPhone 15 Pro/PM to iOS 27 DB 1.

It happened to me, and after looking online it seems I’m far from the only one. The update installs fine, but after the restart the phone can go completely dead and won’t turn back on.
The only fixes seem to be putting the phone into DFU mode and restoring it, or taking it to Apple Store.
There’s a Reddit thread dedicated to this issue already, with many iPhone 15 Pro owners reporting exactly the same problem.
Just a heads-up before anyone decides to install the beta.

I got off the waitlist late afternoon yesterday. Left my iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPad Pro m5, and iPad mini all on chargers since then for the most part and this morning still indexing (unsurprisingly). My guess is this process can take days to a week or two; between mail and messages and photos alone with all the indexing it needs to do now, it wouldn't surprise me. Last night mail showed hours of overnight background usage (i unfortunately horde email because i get too much junk nowadays)

An Apple Store won't touch it if it's on beta firmware.

I see what happened to mine. Seems the time offsets for "time of day" were removed. I had one for scheduled half after sunrise and another for 45 before sunset, but that trigger just doesn't exist anymore. Pity.

It's all there.

Given the disdain that iOS26 made me feel towards my phone, I thought I'd give the 27 beta are whirl. It couldn't be any worse, right? Well. It's definitely much responsive, with much more legible content. It just feels a lot nicer to use so far. On the Mac I still find MacOS27 quite jittery. Better than Tahoe, but still not as smooth as Sequoia. Hopefully they can get that sorted before Autumn. It does feel like an OS again, especially without the oversized corners, rather than a kids toy.

Don’t know if anyone mentioned this, but Apple did a lot of work on landscape app layouts with iOS 27. Tested with a 16 Pro Max and 17 Pro Max, these are the apps that now support landscape orientation:

• Weather
• Reminders
• Health
• Home
• Fitness
• Apple Watch
• Voice memos
• Compass
• Shortcuts
• Passwords
• Journal
• Tips

In addition, many of the existing apps that supported landscape were updated:

General changes: Floating sidebars have been removed. Sidebars are now resizable.
Files: Removed tab bar in landscape orientation by merging recents and shared into the sidebar.
Preview: Removed tab bar in landscape orientation by merging recents, shared, and browse into the sidebar.

I wouldn’t bet my life on this info with the indexing. It’s the first developer beta and the notification might just be bugged.
Nevertheless it’s a major update. Just see how it is in a couple of days. Wouldn’t worry about this too much.

Summary so far:

All the apps I use are working, including my banking ones, and the OS seems to be running well. Still "waiting" for the new Siri, but I'm not too fussed about that.

I had to toggle some automation triggers to get them to work, and on MacOS I had to set my photo library as the system one (for iCloud sync - it got turned off during the upgrade) but apart from minor issues like these, which were easily fixable, I've had no issues.

I'm running this beta on my main/only mobile - iPhone 17.

In the presentation they mentioned things like 4K in HomeKit cameras was iCloud+ for most plans. Has anyone seen any pricing items in the beta that share how this actually breaks down? I think Siri AI was also in this boat as well.

I promise I'm not an idiot, this is way less intuitive than before 💀

They've changed a lot of stuff, and the only reason I'm almost understanding it all now is that I have quite a few shortuts and automations, and it's something I enjoy playing with. The change to make automations into shortcuts with triggers was pretty confusing, especially as they all sync now.

I have every "automation" (well, ok, triggered shortcut) on both my phone and laptop. Cleverly, they default to disabled on the devices they sync to.
