Summary so far:

All the apps I use are working, including my banking ones, and the OS seems to be running well. Still "waiting" for the new Siri, but I'm not too fussed about that.

I had to toggle some automation triggers to get them to work, and on MacOS I had to set my photo library as the system one (for iCloud sync - it got turned off during the upgrade) but apart from minor issues like these, which were easily fixable, I've had no issues.

I'm running this beta on my main/only mobile - iPhone 17.

How is the iPhone heat and battery?

Phone is cool. Battery seems same as usual, which is quite impressive, considering how much I've been playing around with shortcuts/automations this morning.

Despite the phone being on charge overnight, the Settings app still warns me that the phone is indexing. I think they've really reduced the priority of indexing to stop people immediately posting that the screen drops frames when they swipe continuously for half an hour between home-screens for no reason apart from Reddit karma.

(Posting because it’s related) My MBP still won’t complete a backup, but at least now it’s able to see my NAS again (preparing to backup… for eternity).

Music won’t even open.

While my installs were going across my devices, before they restarted, suddenly all of my Eufy cameras shut off. Home still sees them. They’re in the Eufy app (and shut off there, as they should be so nothing goes to Eufy), but yeah. Weird. I’m not going to attempt any changes until beta 2 comes and they’re still off.

As for iOS, I’m hesitant to call the battery life bad at this point because my phone is still indexing apparently. However I shouldn’t be down to 85% at only 9:15am.

The performance is shocking though. It runs so, so smooth.

Ran into a bug where I couldn’t drop an app into a folder unless I held it there until the folder enlarged around the icon but before it expanded into a folder.

Any crops you make when you initially take a screen shot are not saved; you have to go to Photos and crop it again there.

Still waitlisted for Siri, too.

There's still a bug where if you drag an icon from the Spotlight search into a home-screen or folder, if it's already on another home-screen (or the same one, or in a folder) it deletes it from those other locations.

If you want the same icon on two home-screens (useful for focus modes!) you have to drag the icon from the App Library instead.

This is a continuation of a known iOS 26 bug.

I see they still haven’t fixed the keyboard still. Rubbish prediction and misstypes. Was hoping for improvements.
if you have mistypes thats almost certainly due to user error. the keyboard isn’t always to blame for you not checking the keys you press at least on occasion, and mistypes and key misfires are always going to happen no matter how much apple works on the keyboard, because it has tap and touch targets. if you overshoot the target, you just need to double check in future.

Sorry if it's been asked already... When I go to Settings I just see "Siri" not "Apple Intelligence and Siri." Is that the norm? I did opt in to the "new Siri" and am on the waitlist since yesterday afternoon. My 17PM is still indexing though.

No, it's they keyboard, although I am not blameless from time to time. Sometimes even typos it should correct don't even give a suggestion to replace it with. It never corrects y'all, just leaves it as yall. I also notice that it struggles more with autocorrect when you have more than language on the keyboard, in my case I also have the spanish keyboard on it.

Big indication of iPhone Fold. Makes we wonder if it’s going to run a hybrid version of iOS/iPadOS or they’ll just make iOS landscape friendly in every aspect.
Considering Apple just announced a feature to render apps in basically any orientation and aspect ratio we can be 100% certain a folding iPhone will happen this year.
The way Music is right now is more reminiscent of the music UI using Stand By mode, so just another thing they should have implemented years ago.
Im very interested if they actually go as far as adding a landscape home screen to iphone like the 6 Plus had but only make it available for the Fold…

My biggest issues so far:

Twitter app:
It scrolls very strangely now with white space at the bottom of the screen. Obviously they'll be able to fix that with an app update I imagine.

Carplay:
I had a Teams call that I took in the car today. When I tried to unmute Carplay completely crashed. Unmuting worked other times but that wasn't ideal at that particular moment.

I never thought i would see the day where Apple goes back-to-back with industry leading shake-up.

They came out with the iPhone Air last year and now foldable.

We are about to have 6 iPhones to choose from in 2026-early 2027. Diabolical work.

1. iPhone Fold
2. iPhone 18 Pro
3. iPhone 18
4. iPhone Air
5. iPhone 18e
6. iPhone 17

I've been experiencing the following bug since iOS 27 Beta 1—when I use the regular search, it no longer shows me files or other documents like it used to.
What's causing this? (I mean, when you use the search at the bottom...)

For anyone in the EU frustrated about not getting the new Siri AI — there's a workaround that's working for me as of last night.

On Mac, you need three things:

  • OS language set to English
  • Siri set to English
  • Region/location set to the US
On iPhone and iPad you also have to sign in with an US Apple ID in Media & Purchases.

I joined the wait list last night the moment it went live, and I'm already approved.

Here's the curious part: if you type to Siri in another language that was previously supported, it actually replies in both languages — the one you wrote in and English. So the model clearly still understands and can generate other languages, including for answering context-based questions inside Messages.

Which makes me wonder: why is Apple gating other languages at all? Is this purely down to the lack of regulatory approval in the EU rather than any real technical limitation?

Curious whether others are seeing the same dual-language behavior.

Im curious. Apple mentioned out loud some AI features aren’t going to be available in the EU for the time being.
But how come Visual Intelligence still works but it’s not integrated into the camera app.
Is this the case for everyone else, too?

Reddit and all these iOS related posts are really the hell. Honestly I’m considering to delete Reddit mostly because of this.

How did you get access to a US Apple ID? Or were you able to convert yours somehow? I can live with not getting new AI features, but im very curious how you got it to work and if I theoretically could do it too if I felt the need. Or just feel bored.

In my case I did not need to change the region to US on my Mac. Still on the waitlist though.

I think being able to answer in any language is kind of an inherit trait of how LLMs work. Though indeed they probably gate it for now to keep the regulatory and testing effort lower at this point in time.
